This is a channel about finding watches, primarily Casio watches, that fit my small wrist. While most watches fit an average size wrist, not a lot of attention is given to watches that favor smaller wrists. So I wanted to share my experience with the Casio watches I've bought and maybe help those who have smaller wrists and are looking for nice fitting watches.

I have 6 Casios and one on the way, with a Swiss field watch I’ve had since about 2010. I’m with you on the luxury watch, I’ll definitely want to try it on in person. I believe there’s a Casio store in New York, id like to visit. I’d have to double check. One thing that’s cool too is changing the strap for a new look/feel. Great video, and your views sit a lot with mine. For the future of my collection, I hope to keep it at a 10 max. But yanno 😅

I'm looking forward to my next trip to Japan, as I'll finally get a chance to try on the Oceanus line. The Oceanus watches look nice, but I've got to try it on for myself if I'm going to spend that much money.

It truely depends on which level and experience you are as a collector. From my own personal experience I can tell that I have enjoyed the time collecting all type of genres, different brands, band types etc. This was my personal learning experience about watches with the goal now to find out what really fits to my lifestyle and to me personally. I have discovered the elegant sportswatch catergory such as the MTP 1302 line that sits in the same collection with a Rolex OP, Longines Conquest or Seiko SARB. It looks like a candy shop. All type of colors among same type of genre is what me is all about.

Eh, howzit! You and I overlap on the MQ24 and W86. Good choices both as I’d consider them GADA watches, well, maybe not for formal occasions, but for everyday life I think they’re great watches. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve narrowed down my likes and dislikes so getting what I like is about all that drives me anymore. Do you have <any> mechanical watches? I know it’s its own rabbit hole but sometimes practicality needs to take a back seat.
@thissmallwrist
@thissmallwrist 2 дня назад
I don't have any mechanical watches. I decided like didn't want to deal with the maintenance. Some of the Seikos and Citizens look amazing, but I just didn't want to worry about servicing down the road.
@nplus1watches35
@nplus1watches35 День назад
Hey, I have an idea... have you watched any of the numerous watch videos on AliExpress watches? There are several watches that have the Seiko VH31 movement inside that might pique your interest. Quartz timing, with a 4 ticks/sec sweep, it's got the accuracy of quartz with the looks of a mechanical. Granted it has more moving parts than any Casio (except maybe their analog models), but you'll probably never have to service it other than a battery change, like your current Casios.

I have almost 200. I just buy what I like and they are almost all G-Shocks. Some I buy to wear and some are just for the collection. I have one MRG which was expensive but I just wanted one as it was a grail watch for me. I also have one Oceanus, one Pro-Trek and a way 'classic' Casio watches. I don't intend to stop. The nice thing about watches is that they don't take up much space :)
@thissmallwrist

200? Wow. How do you store those watches? I hope to get a MRG one day. Those are really nice, but hard to justify at this point in my watch hobby. Maybe for a significant milestone.

I don’t think it needs to be that deep. I disagree with the need to ascribe a dogma to something that brings pleasure like watch collecting. Your ‘goal’ should just be to buy what you like. Aiming for an arbitrary number or categories to check off is a fool’s errand.
@nefariox
@nefariox 3 дня назад
Right! I was recommended to buy a Casioak because it’s trending. But I liked the new GA 2300 more. So I bought it. Do what you love, not what’s trending. 😊
@thissmallwrist
@thissmallwrist 2 дня назад
Having categories of watches or roles to fill helps curb just continuously buying, I've found. I look at the new models, but don't feel like I need to buy everything. Just keeps it in perspective.
@sathishrao7926
@sathishrao7926 3 дня назад
I’ve ‘collected’ about 60 Casios in a year. Most of these purchases are impulsive, triggered by FOMO (only 1 left, great deal etc..), but I’ve a self imposed budget of $100 on a watch and I’ve not exceeded it ! At this time I’m in “more the merrier” mode and I don’t have any desire to buy a ‘luxury’ Casio (I don’t know how much more luxurious a $1000 Oceanus is compared to my $100 Edifices). Maybe a couple of years later, I feel that I should have bought 20 ‘top of the line’ models instead of 200 watches under $100, let’s see !!
@thissmallwrist
@thissmallwrist 2 дня назад
That's a great strategy. It would be tough to limit it to $100 for me, but I'm trying to buy a new watch only for significant events. If I'm buying 2-3 watches a month, that's a bit much for my budget and storage.
@sathishrao7926
@sathishrao7926 2 дня назад
@@thissmallwrist Fortunately I’ve been able to grab many good Edifices and G-Shocks when they were on sale at surprisingly low prices, so $100 limit hasn’t been a real barrier yet ! Hopefully I’ll get a Protrek too under $100 some day !!

@@thissmallwrist hopefully this comment doesn't go away, but basically it took me like a year of trying different things with my 108D until I got a 35mm silicone PRX strap for it, as seen on my pp. It almost fits perfectly and since the end links are curved, they'll hug your wrist really nice. I wrote a thread about it on reddit and posted pictures and all. You should give it a look, maybe you'll like it. My wrists are 6.5 in so I get what you say about the fit of the 108D but for me the silicone strap fixed all my issues with the watch, and also ended up putting a butterfly clasp for good measure

As an interesting aside, the name “Fifty Fathoms” was inspired by Shakespeare’s play The Tempest, in a verse sung by Ariel: “Full fathom five thy father lies; Of his bones are coral made.” It also references the British measurement of 50 fathoms, which converts to approximately 91.45 metres, believed to be the maximum depth which a diver could achieve with the oxygen mixture in use at the time.

The downside of a retro release like this is that you get the flaws of the old design too. The trade-offs in that time w.r.t. cost were different. I would have preferred that they would have added 24-hour time.

Thanks for the solid review, Back in the day I had an Armitron quartz digital ('sorry 'don't remember the model), and it had buttons on the face of the watch like yours, and one thing that drove me nuts, and to Casio because theirs was on the side, was you'd randomly bump the watch into things, like door jambs, tables, etc and one of the buttons would get pushed and you'd find yourself in some mode you didn't expect to be in. Does that ever happen with the A1100? Have fun with the watch!

And the link adjustment is super easy to do. I really like that white face since the text is much more visible! But I don't like that there's no month/day display option, other than when adjusting it manually. Also, so far it has yet to be able to sync. I'm in NYC.
