Fishing, motorcycles, nature, and pets

For me, fishing is not about catching ... it's about just getting out there. I don't always catch the most or the biggest fish, but I always enjoy it. I don't ever want it to feel like work. I am never competitive about it. I will film my adventures and try to make them as entertaining as possible even if only a handful of people watch.

Motorcycle rides clear my head.

Nature and pets make the world special.

I appreciate the feedback. I’m in a similar place, sold an east cape vantage which was sea worthy but a bit big for the flats and now trying to find a better compromise. Easier said than done. I’ve been looking at the 17 hox but like you fear it is a step too far back in terms of size. The -8 hpxv might be a great compromise but hard to fun and affordable one. Looking at some east cape options but not sure where I will land. I have a bay boat so I guess I can get away with a smaller flats boat since they serve different purposes but not sure
@straightouttajupiter
@straightouttajupiter 11 дней назад
I don't know the east cape boats. As far as MBG in my opinion the Redfisher 18 is as versatile as any 18 foot bay boat. And for me, when I decided to go to a bay boat i went much bigger- 22 ft, which no 18 foot boat can compare to. And a lesser brand to keep cost low. Good luck
@davide3129
@davide3129 14 дней назад
Doesn’t seem like you respond to a lot of comments but if you do, I would be interested in understanding the rationale of all the different boats you’ve had and the struggles in finding the right boat. I would say perfect boat but no such thing. The 18 hpx would be a highly versatile boat for what you do but then you traded down to a 17, a different boat vs the 18 and too small for the versatility you need. Then a red fisher and now a bay boat. You are all over the place lol
@straightouttajupiter
@straightouttajupiter 13 дней назад
Hey i always answer. Just not when people ask where I'm fishing. That's not fair to other fisherman. The 18 maverick was a great boat. At the time I was poling and I thought the 17 would be easier. But I didn't like it. Too small. Waves crashed over the gun whale while spot locked in the inlet. When i stopped poling, I went with the redfisher 16. I needed a boat that would fit in my garage and the RF 16 fit the bill and was much more stable than the mav 17. When I moved to a new place with no hoa, and no need to garage the boat,I decided to get something bigger. I would have loved the RF 18 but the cost skyrocketed. So I went the bulls bay. 22 ft for even trade on my RF 16. Hope this helps.

Just found your channel! I've seen you've owned Mavericks and your new RF. How is the RF handling chop and big waves compared to the other mavericks? Is the RF more tippy than the Mavericks?
@straightouttajupiter
@straightouttajupiter 2 месяца назад
Hey thanks for watching. Mavericks and Redfishers are two completely different boats. Unless you're poling the flats, the redfishers are more stable, smoother and drier in chop than the mavericks of the same size. The redfisher 16 imo is the best 16 foot boat on the planet. Awesome boat. And fits in the garage. I don't do any poling anymore

Have u handled the R16 in a heavier Chop? How u you like the ride compared the your previous Hpx ? Thanks again! Your videos are great! 🙌🏻
@straightouttajupiter
@straightouttajupiter 4 месяца назад
I suffer from lower back issues so in heavier chop I keep my speed fairly low. Trimming the bow down and heading straight into the waves, the boat handles well. Personally I think its the smoothest riding 16 ft hull out there. Much smoother drier compared to maverick 17 V. Thanks for your compliment

I fished by myself nearly all the time. I wore my stop switch lanyard whenever I was underway, making way. My boat was a 21 Maverick Master Angler. I loved that boat! I lived in Panama City Beach and fished the bays, creeks and the Gulf of Mexico. Anyways an instructor at Sea School told us that most drowning deaths in Florida were of male persons. He said and most of those could be attributed to guys taking a pee and going MOB. I took it to heart and when on the Gulf I always wore my pfd, even in the heat of summer. I also practiced going MOB and being able to get back into the boat. He also told us that anyone that goes on the Gulf of Mexico without a vhf radio was a f in' idiot! I took that to heart as well. 😊 Tightlines, Mike
@straightouttajupiter

Yeah I should set a better example. I do have and epirb, vhf and satellite messenger in the boat but yeah if I fall off underway I'm fucked

Also I never pee over the side. Always into a small bucket that I keep on board for that purpose
@rockinghorselivestock2491
@rockinghorselivestock2491 6 месяцев назад
You're better 'n me. I mostly just peed on the deck and let it go out the scuppers. Good on ya for havin' the epirb. I had heard of one feller who had a line made that floated, that he put in a cleat that he thrower overboard figurin' if he he went MOB he might could grab the line and stay with the boat. Not a bad idea. I never fished the Atlantic but i know the currents in the Gulf are awfully strong. A person in the water and the boat could part ways pretty quickly. I'll quit bothern' ya now. 🤠

Nice footage. Nice Fish! Change your fly. Have a 4 flight rotation set up before you start. Do not spend more than 10 minutes Not Catching fish, with the same color fly! You never set the hook. Use butt of the rod, not tip, to fight strong fish. You could not pull the fly line from between tip of my fingers with the tip of your rod. The butt you can pull me down! You will break your rod pulling on the butt with your left hand, an Expensive lesson! Just so friendly advice! - Peace
