I went to the first 2 years of sick new world and I will not be going this year. Metallica is not only not nu metal but also haven't done anything worth listening to since the black album. Chester was a legend there’s no question asked. I’d say that he is probably the best nu-metal vocalists of the 21st century. I’m not happy with the Scientology stuff, and I wish there was a way to ban it considering what it’s all about. I respect people’s religion, but Scientology is more of a cult than a religion. I like that you are looking at the apology from both points of view. Jaime I believe, but Chester’s mom is questionable because Jaime made videos talking about it. Chester’s mom never was in a video. Brad is still a part of the band, but no, he’s not touring. It’s Mike, Dave, and Joe for the pre 2024 members. She is a good vocalist too.
To me this whole thing was a cash grab. Even if Emily actually wrote the apology it wasn’t a good one. She never mentioned Danny by name. This is not me defending Scientology but the reason why she didn’t was because Scientologists can’t speak ill of other Scientologists. That’s how messed up the cult is! A fellow Scientologist can do something unforgivable, and it’s YOUR FAULT for calling them out. Yes, she was born into it, but considering that Mike knew her since 2019 I think he had to have known about her personal life. LP has always been pro mental health, hell the suicide hotline is on his discord server. What was going through his head when he picked someone like her?!
Linkin Park made a good decision in selecting Emily Armstrong. She's nailing the screams. And continuing to improve and gain confidence in each new live show. Now she doesn't have the vocal range as Chester nor the emotion quite yet. But it's serviceable for fans! I'm optimistic for the future of this band.

It _sounds like Linkin Park._ Why? Because Mike has always written the songs. This is his musical voice. If he started another band with another name, but it still sounded like Linkin Park -- and it would, because this is what _he_ sounds like -- that would have been even weirder. Emily is an amazing musician. She deserves Linkin Park, and Linkin Park deserves her, and they deserve to continue. Chester would have wanted that. 100%. They just hit 21 on Billboard 100, which is insane for a hard rock song with screaming in it. Rock on, Linkin Park.

I would not believe everything Chester’s mom has to say, but I’d listen to Jaime because there’s video evidence of him saying these things. Do I think Emily is amazing? No, but she’s not bad. I’m not comparing her to Chester because he’s irreplaceable, but getting someone that can cover the old songs would’ve been better. Listen to her screams. They don’t sound good. The new stuff so far sounds good because it was written with her in mind. It’s also worth noting that Chester was the second lead singer. Mark Wakefield was the first lead singer, and they were told if they wanted to be successful they needed a better vocalist.
No disrespect intended but a few things. How do you know it was Emily, and it was indeed her PR team, if she did declare she was no long a part of scientology, would you believe her or think it was her PR team advising her? She made a mistake in seeing the best in people like we all do and thought of Danny as a friend. Maybe criminals have friends who don't know what that person is capable of, and no one (except Jaime) has said she was the intimidator. Not to mention, she does may many things that go against the church, such as supporting the LGBT community, has openly dated other women, and is not in a band known for their songs on mental health. From where I stand, it seems like she doesn't believe in the church and doesn't want anything to do with it. Plus, all religions are cults, so that's a moot point.

I don't care what a celebrity does in private. Even if the Scientology-thing was true... does that make her a bad singer? Nope, it does definately not.Chester had his problems too, He was a drug addict and he wasn't always a good guy. I loved him for his music and not for the things he did in his life- Emily did support a rapist. That's true. But we don't know the background of it. Nowadays there are so many celebs accused of raping or sexual assault by "victims" who lied and just wanted money or fame. Maybe Emily didn't believe in the accusations
Also, if someone accused my mom of being a serial killer, I wouldn't believe it either. Its normal to want to support people close to you. She changed her mind when she saw the overwhelming evidence. Someone can only be truly evil and deserving of the witch hunt she is receiving if she still stood by someone after such revelations, but she did not. I don't get what the fuss is about. People have lost the sense of empathy and rational thinking these days. The power they can exert collectively over others makes them feel good so they abuse it by slowly finding more stupid reasons to attack people. Its a purity spiral that does not end well for society.

I'll listen to the new album but I won't go see them play live because it's half a band playing. Chester is gone, Rob is out..and Brad..I don't know why he isn't playing but as far as I know he isn't playing live...so you got Mike,Joe and Dave. I've said that they should've done it with just them 5 and audience would sing Chester's part...it was obvious that LP won't be the same after Chester was gone. I would see them live if they played only new songs which at the moment I have no idea how they sound like...are they all full songs with lyrics or again some just instrumental "songs". And LP also isn't clean..they collabed with Jaz-Z..you think he is clean ? Go to any big name band and there'll be dirt to find.
Sooo should we then also cancel Tom Cruise now? He's a very outspoken scientologist. Boo hoo get over yourself. If you like the music with her in it, then listen to it, if not don't. But don't judge a person for their past. They are people to and they to make mistakes. Yes Crimes should be punished and some crimes should have someones dick cut off, but don't take it out on some bystander who believed someone was innocent and later admits they were wrong.
Tom Cruise is a well-known scientologist, that doesnt make him any less of a great actor. Not sure why you claim that Emptiness Machine does not sound like Linkin Park, it most certainly does minus Emily's singing. The beat is a classic mix of Brad and Mike riffs and in fact i would even go so far as to say that they took inspiration from Faint. That said, it does go against everything Chester was all about but at the same time it hardly means anything. "This has been reported" is about as reliable for data as an eye testimony in court in this day and age where all it takes to ruin a person's reputation is to accuse said person of something "morally wrong". Ask Michael Jackson. Anyway, i don't get the fuss over this crap and if it ends up being such a problem then only time will tell. What actually triggers me is people saying she actually is a good/great vocalist. She most certainly is NOT a good vocalist much less a great one and she was chosen by Mike for creative reasons not talent or skills. No her singing of the Hybrid Theory/Meteora songs was not good, it was horrible and horrendous to listen to. She belongs with this new era of LP if anything, the band ought to not touch the old classics ever again at this point. I still feel antagonized from watching that Live performance of theirs.

i realize i am a Chester Bennington fan. I don't care who the replacement is. If they are singing the old songs pass...how is it a new era with old songs? she cant even sing his songs...do your own music and it will prob sound better because you aren't just singing someone else's words like a cover band. That is the only thing that threw me..
You guys have to stop with this garbage. Everyone nowadays has to literally find one way or another to bitch and complain about everything! She’s an amazing vocalist and I think she fits right in with Linkin Park. You guys need to let go of the past. They’re trying to look forward to the future. Yes Chester is and was amazing but he left this world on his terms. The band just wants to move forward so leave them be. God I hate this generation! Mike and Emily started making LP music in 2019, and the Danny Masterson drama happened in 2022, so there's no way Mike and the LP team didn’t know about it. They knew her background and didn’t care-such a huge disappointment. I really like the new single, but it's probably impossible for me to keep spending money to support the band now.
Well, they made an effort, and Emily screams very hard in memory of Chester. And another thing, the band isn't Chester. It's Linkin Park. Mike Shinoda is a part of Linkin Park and they're a team. That's all.
There is an interview that was conducted just before the Linkin Park show that introduced Emily. If you watch it, you'll find out how they came to work with Emily. You'll also see that it wasn't greed or a cash grab or Mike selling out. The guys missed playing together and just wanted to hang out and see what would happen. Mike had been working with Emily on other projects and there was chemistry there. They are not trying to replace Chester, that will never happen. They are not trying to dishonor Chester, that also will never happen. The guys just enjoy hanging out and playing in a band with each other and wanted to do something to move forward and this situation just worked for them. Does Emily give them a different vibe? Absolutely, she does. Is it still Linkin Park? Considering there are still four original members, I would argue that that foundation is still there, so yes. It will never be the same without Chester, but very unfortunately, Chester is no longer an option. So, Linkin Park forging a new path forward seems legit. As long as the band members still have the desire to continue on, that is their choice. Getting on board with them is the fans' choice. Everyone doesn't have to like it and that's okay, you'll still have the albums with Chester. For those willing to journey along with the band, it's a chance to be introduced to new music and a new story.
how about just shutting up and doing actual research about Emily Anderson and redo this video. I bet you cant even tell me what band she even came from. all you are saying is everything people are accusing her of. lay off shes the new lead singer of LP and shes doing an amazing job..get over it
Here are some thoughts over this: 1. She didn't support an abuser, cause she didn't believe Masterson was an abuser. As an observer in the trials she got knowledge of new things, she changed her mind and walked off. This kind of sh1t can happen to anyone. We use to believe and support friends in moments of need, it's a good human value. She misjudged him and cut relations with him after knowing the truth. I don't see any problem here. 2. I think people are misunderstanding what leads someone to religion... We don't know her relation with Scientology. It's not that scientology doesn't believe in mental illness, they have a different approach to it, focused in confronting the issues to overcome it. Maybe she found in scientology a way to get better from her own mental problems... we don't know and we shouldn't judge. Obviously, Chester didn't took his life because of scientology. Creating this relation that Emily couldn't be in this band because scientology is a disrespect to his condition is, at best, shallow. It sounds so much as religious intolerance... I'm a Christian man, I don't believe in scientology but I understand depression all to well. I did all kind of treatments (psychology, psychiatry, cognitive behavioral, church... pick anyone, I did it) and none of them worked for me. My family made it batter. The need to man up and carry my world on my shoulders made me stand. My point here is, wich one of us knows where we struggle. Scientology has nothing to do with it. Maybe a religion (any religion, even scientology) would have helped him. One thing that didn't help him at all was those fans criticizing him for not being able to replicate his own style in his later years. Seeking for erros, playbacks, booing... I hope Emily and Linkin Park overcome this. She is a great song writer and vocalist, I think her style fits LP.

His problem with Emily is she being friend and keeping this friendship with Masterson's wife. Which doesn't mean anything. We don't know the extention of this relationship. We don't even know if Emily helped the wife to overcome the pain of discovering the abuses of a husbund and loosing him to jail. I bet it was a dificult time for the wife too, I bet friends were needed. Helping a friend doesn't mean she agrees to every atitude or that she even knows everything. Again, we don't know nothing about her relationship with all those people. For everything that was "exposed" till now, I still support her in LP.

I know you are coming with this with the best intentions and I appreciate the comment but I'm not attacking her solely for her religion if it was just that fine. The problem I have is she supported a rapist and having those beliefs goes completely against to what Chester and Linkin Park stood for. Normally I hate cancel culture (even tho I misspoke in the video) but if it's someone who supported a rapist or even worse an actual rapist that's inexcusable.
I wouldn't be particularly sympathetic towards her b/c of religious freedom. Freedom of religion is an important right, but it's also not SO important that it trump's other rights. It wouldn't be at all the same as attacking someone for being queer, the religion you practice is not some fundamental immutable fact about who you are. Emily is gay by the way. But the thing is if you go looking to find out if she is or isn't a Scientologist today you're gonna find several instances of her being heavily critical of it in her lyrics for a number of years now. That includes this new single. What is the emptiness machine? Well... duh? Why hasn't she made a clearer public statement? Ok... Scientology isn't just some weird religion. This is one of the absolute worst and most dangerous cults around. She never had a choice in being associated with it, she was born into it. People underestimate just how hard it is to leave any cult that has its claws in you and your family. I was raised mormon and actually came pretty close to losing my family when I left... but that church is kinda riding the line between cult and religion it's absolutely nothing compared to Scientology. Scientology... there are straight up horror stories, dead bodies and all, about people who spoke out against them after leaving. Testimonials from ex-members, books on the subject. This cult is intense, disgusting, harrowing... We're mad she has ties with an organization guilty of child abuse? She was a child once you know... I'm not defending her actions that shouldn't be defended. It was a mistake to show up at that pre-hearing. And if there was in fact intimidation from her towards victims, that's a bigger mistake. Not good, not okay. But from everything I have seen, most people's all-out condemnation of her as a human being are likewise mistkaes. It's wrong to be so vicious towards her, especially from so many random people who clearly haven't actually so much as tried to get the full picture and just spouting knee-jerk reactions based off a few facts. This image of her as some "pro-abuse" monster... it doesn't hold up. The more I look into it the more undeniable it becomes that the full and true narrative looks a lot more like a story about a victim with some fuck ups along the way. She is a victim of this monstrous cult. That's not some license to abuse others of course, but from what I've seen the absolute worst dirt on her is not really stuff that is so unimaginable and unforgivable... people can change and I think she has. What I'm seeing of her story, her mom advocating for her rights in the church to be gay... her mom being put in "the hole", all of the inevitable trauma's she endured growing up in such a hardcore cult... there's absolutely religious trauma this shit obliterated her life as it would anyone's. And we don't know if there's more. I think she's actually someone who can bring a lot of authenticity singing the lyrics in LP's music. Cherster's son is strongly against yes, and I'll admit it's not like I have the full picture either. But when Chester's widow supports Emily... it's hard to feel like I can just rely on totally on the one guy's opinion.

By "Acquired Taste" I assume you mean "requires altered brain chemistry (via drugs or some mutation)" for Tool. My favorite band of all time, BTW, so I must be one of those. Your opinions are valid. You seem even tempered, and while I don't agree with everything you've said here, at least you have the humility to understand an opposing arguments. Now I won't be so nice to you: please work on your editing and try to eliminate your lip smack when you begin a new thought. (and I don't mean via editing, I mean just recognizing it and trying to eliminate it from your speech pattern entirely.) I know that's a super "High Horse" thing to say, but I think you'll find better listeners if you don't have this potentially annoying habit.
