Loved that 1st album from the first day I heard it back in 74. Just old-fashioned kickass rock & roll! To this day I still think and believe Rush with Rutsey, if they had continued playing kickass rock like on the debut album and not venture the prog road as they did with Peart, would still have been a big time rock band. We can only wonder! RIP Rutsey and Peart!

Clem burke although a brilliant drummer at this point, he was just over the top with fills,eventually I think the band had to tell him to think of the overall sound and chill.
Niedecken - und natürlich auch der Major - sind für mich die besten deutschen Songschreiber dieser musikalischen Ära. Höre die Musik bis heute sehr gerne und viele der Texte haben bis heute nix an ihrer Aktualität eingebüßt. Großartige deutsche Rockmusik ❤
Musikalisch top aber für mich ohne die Magie der 40 Jahre alten Studioversion,. Die ist kein Song den jemand singt, die nimmt mich wirklich mit in Kerstins verregneten Hinterhof. Bemerkenswertes Werk.
Oh man! In the days when music, the musicians and the styles of music were genuinely appreciated. I was born to late! 1974! If i was 18, 19 in 1968, that would have been perfect. I have been a musician for over 30 years and when kids my age were listening to the latest music like U2, human League, the early 80's I was mining for the older stuff ever since i won a deep purple single hooking ducks at the local fair! From Deep Purple I searched for anything connected to them and a chain reaction happened. I was listeing to Spirit, Steppenwolf, Mountain, Soft Machine and so much more! Why? Because bands were like...mercurial back then. Now, you dont even get who plays what on the album!!! Fricken downloads! I am ranting as i would love to know who the band is playing at the end here? I think vinyl played a huge part in our musical education as you would put the album on and read the shit out of the album sleeve!!! Every detail was soaked up as you listened!!! I know you know what I mean to whoever reads this! So god bless Soft Machine and all the bands in the late 60s early 70's, the finest musical period as far as im concerned! Not forgetting Jazz of course and classical but... Well you know what I mean x
Gerry Rafferty caught my attention when he was with Stealers Wheel. But it was his album "Can I Have My Money Back" that hooked me as a fan back in the 1970s. He was a magnificent singer-songwriter-musician.
