It was incredible, such a good day and Jamie was great to ride and hang with! Thank you for watching and commenting. need to get out with you for a ride sometime?
@@MindfulTrailBiker hey I'm no street pigeon but happy to join up when I'm feeling fit. Nursing a bad elbow at the moment from a thing called "getting older" or something. 🤣
I don’t think I would want to carry a full fat e-bike up there. It can get pretty windy and it’s fairly steep at the top. Maybe an SL if you weee used to carrying it. There is another route that would be a long steep push right from the base of the valley that follows a wall all the way up. That could work but u e not gone that way so can’t be sure p
Thank you, that's great. We are road tripping it from Scotland in the campervans but we were withering wether or not to just get accommodation. Do u have any recommendations
@georgemcmanus5943 I stayed with Atlas Ride Co. They do all kinds of accommodation focused towards bikers. I did the “riders week” which is pretty much fully catered and includes lift pass for the week and they have bike wash, tools and mechanic onsite etc. It’s a great place to stay! They do self catered and hotel stays as well.
Awww love it when my favourite You Tubers come together. The enthusiasm, enjoyment and humble honesty that comes across as well as video quality put you both right up there. This ride is creeping up my bucket list. What time did you do this? Looks nice and quiet! Having hiked up Grizedale Pike (sans bike) a couple times I'd expect it to be be a little busy atm on the ascent?
@@anneslambert3369 thank you so much, that’s a lovely message. This was filmed this Thursday gone and we set off around 10.30am. It was busy enough in the trail centre but quiet up on the pike. Never known it get too busy to be honest 👍
Great day. Just watched this with the kids. We all thought it was an awesome edit 👏 Think you captured the vibe on that last trail with the music choice 👌 👍 😀
Jamie.. I will remember this day forever! You are a legend my friend! I’ve been out today and really concentrated on my cornering having seen how poised you looked railing them corners! Hats off to you brother! Thank you for the memories! ❤️
Love this one 🎉🎉 Great riding and looks like you’re having an absolute blast! Edit captures a lot of what i love about both channels… No egos, just great riders exploring and having loads of fun on bikes ❤❤ I also want to go to Whinlatter now 😅
Awww, thank you! It was easy to bring this edit to like as the content was so good, just had to not screw it up 😂This has always been one of our favourite rides! Can’t wait to get on it again with you!
Cheers Mark, appreciate it! It was the most fun to ride and film. You’d be fine on the reactor, it’s not that chunky really. Would highly recommend it for sure!
With the pigeon tower on your left, take the right fork and follow the main road for about 1/2 mile. When the younger the woods on the left it’s there. 👍
@@davemtbpowell3965 not much to dislike about a private uplift service. That said, I went for a nice analogue pedal today and really enjoyed the slower pace, took more scenery in, was more relaxed and mentally recharged from it. Both are awesome and I shall enjoy both immensely going forward. You’re right as you are and would highly recommend an ebike, if that makes sense 👍
Your videos are good but without music it would be much better ( I couldn’t watch until the end) nowadays putting music in videos is a big mistake...!!! It would be better if you only talk a little bit or nothing just let the sounds of the bike talk by them self…Cheers
Got to admit to being occasionally tempted by an ebike. But then I here the latest youtuber trying to justify their choice and it puts me right off! Just pedal a proper bike ffs! Then the next tough day of climbing I'll start being tempted again!! Maybe the day people stop feeling like they have to justify moving to an ebike is the day I'll jump on board? Definitely would be an SL of some description. Too many people I know have a love/hate with all the extra weight and my local trails I feel will be more suited to the lighter bikes.
They are my reasons rather than justification Pete. This is why I decided to spend my cash rather than me asking for forgiveness from the audience. My rationale (that I would normally have for purchasing any bike i.e bigger travel, different wheel size etc is detailed in the edit for the audience as it may resonate or provoke thought. I enjoy a climb, always have, always will, it’s part of MTB for me and I wouldn’t change it. That said as I’m now doing more other training than ever before and it’s nice to get extra riding in without it overly detracting from my overall energy level for a few days after. That’s said I normally need the zone 5 heart rate element of pedalling an analogue bike uphill and so will monitor and ride the ebike accordingly. On the flip side I do love a good uplift and the extra descending time you get on an ebike means your tired from descending rather than climbing which is novel and will only improve my descending endurance. To summarise then. It’s not just about avoiding climbs and it’s certainly not justification, Im defo not someone who needs to ask if it’s ok for me to buy a bike, just ask the wife 😂 Lindsey decided against a purchase as she feels that on her favourite type of the tracks (golfie style) she would struggle with the weight. I concur, my heavier bike prefers open bridleway to root filled, muddy tight woodland descents for sure
@@MindfulTrailBiker yep, I guess you put yourself out there with this stuff, and good on you. Lets us see places we might never have know about. I'm sure I will relent at some stage. Maybe when the big 60 hits in a few years time. But I do kind of enjoy the struggle too🤘🤘
They’re so much fun aren’t they. I’ve not been out on the bronson since I got the Levo but that was mainly due to it needing a full rebuild. Gonna try and get out on it this week so I can keep a foot in all camps, there’s no denying e-bikes are addictive
@@bmartinot 🤔 maybe i wasn’t specific enough with the title. Unfortunately “Can a light MTB rider confidently pilot with agility, poise and control, an ebike that is approx 6kg heavier than their existing analogue mountain bike on tight, technical single track mountain bike specific trails and enjoy the experience and can they in fact enhance the overall riding experience” is too long for the title character count 😂
Had such a great day 🥳🥳 I’m still wary of how I’ll cope on the steep, natural type stuff that I prefer riding though, only thing giving me further pause 🤔
Nice, stopping here few nights on way to Scotland and was looking for an explore ride, views from beda fell look 👌 thank you for you efforts, going to do this today 🤜💥🤛
Hey Mike, pleasure, enjoy. there is also Helvellyn which is a surprisingly easy climb/push. would recommend the Sticks pass descent rather than Dollywagon. easy route to put together with trail forks or similar. cheers
@@MindfulTrailBiker I love the Reactor & much prefer at uplifts for sure! Also ride it when out with the lad as don't want him to get used to getting towed and not have to pedal 🤣 and with the brothers mostly as they don't like the ebikes 🤣 Also brought on your ride as I wasn't sure if there would be any other ebikes and also to prove to myself I can still pedal 🤣🤣
I've had my Whyte E160 for 1 week now, and I'm loving it! I was very worried that the motor would take away the sense of achievement and physical effort benefits I get from my Nukeproof Reactor, but I didn't need to be concerned. This week, I've spent more time on the bike, covered more distance, climbed higher per mile than ever before, significantly increased the time spent in zone 3 and 4 according to Garmin, and this is with the e-MTB in it's lowest power setting for 90% of the time. Living in a hilly region, what the E-160 has done is help reduce the one thing that put me off riding - the long, tedious ascents. Climbing still takes a lot of effort (which I like) but now it's fun and my motivation is better than ever to get out and ride.
Perfectly put Tony. I’ve just been out on mine for around 5 hours this evening. 40miles, 1500m climbed, a big smile on my face and I’ll be up first thing in the morning for a run, no problem. They are brilliant! 🤩
Reliability was a concern for me and the main reason for going with Specialized and buying from a shop. Good warranty and quick service is important factor for sure! 👍
@@MindfulTrailBiker i have a ktm ebike and a whyte ebike now both seemingly holding up well considering been upside down only reason they break more is because u can ride more with them i think ive always seemed to have problems with the rear brakes on them though no idea why might just be my luck, Up rivington soon for a good best places to ride in rivington in summer 😂😂
Good video, good to see other people's bike decision thought processes too. Thanks for the tip on the glasses I'm after a new pair of photochromics with more coverage than my decathlon ones which are now scratched to hell after several years use. Will check it out as I'm struggling to get hold of the Endura ones I was looking at. 3 witches and Breasty Haw are my favourites in Grizedale, grinning like a Cheshire cat at the bottom 😁
It got in my head that day as the compression onto the take off was a bit soft and sketchy. But yeah, should have got it done really - always next time!
Felt awesome to get it nailed after so long. The singer/songwriter on the band is my brother in law - they are epic! if ever your in Cornwall you may be able to catch them playing.
cheers Danny, felt good towards the end of the trip. My mate can’t ,make it this afternoon and im off to the lakes early tomorrow so not gonna bother so you’ve not missed out. Will arrange to come over when you can make it. keep in touch next week pal.
@@MindfulTrailBikerahh that’s a bit of a bummer you not going, at least I might get to meet you next time. Yeah you can see in these last few videos, ie Morzine, Dyfi, you been getting a lot a progression, it’s fun to watch. Sent you my number in an email to iCloud just make it to arrange that ride at some point. Speak soon.
Nice one mate...we only came across this on day 1 in the wet and didn't fancy it so early! Would have been a big progression for me to do but will have to do next time 👍
@@shannonmtb some of the guys i met saw some pretty horrendous crashes on the boardwalk on the first wet day we had. It would be a no from me in the wet. As mentioned in the other comment, if you can tick of the bigger one of 3 at the bottom of Les gets, then this is the next step up 👍
@@LakesMTB1964 glad I’m not I own 😂 it’s very intimidating isn’t it. It is built very well and the feels great when you nail it. Good luck to you brother! And remember it’s your progress, your pace! 💪
@@LakesMTB1964 also the 3 x drops in Les gets really get you in the right headspace for tackling this. Once you’ve done the largest one at Les gets, this is in the bag 👍
@@MindfulTrailBiker give us a shout when you’re back I might be able to keep up by then! Thanks for the videos, I’ve been meaning to try the triple 8 and your video helped me prepare!
@julianescalanteflorin9626 thats brilliant, I’m really happy it helped, that’s exactly why I took the time. It’ll be next year before I’m back if I’m lucky ☺️
