The gondola chase scene was pure escapist entertainment. None of it made sense but it showed you how Bond and the team behind him could get out of any scrape, however ludicrous!! These scenes perked up the films ableley assisted by the fabulous musical score 🇬🇧
What a beautiful Masterpiece it is ! Just like all of the James Bond Movies from 1962 (Dr. No) up to 1989 (Licence To Kill). After that starting in 1995 a Series by the same Name ("James Bond") was made.
I was So Sad to hear the Passing of Roger Moore who Died at 89 Of Cancer Very Upsetting he was one of my Favourite Actors in James Bond & The Saint R.I.P Roger Moore you True Saint 007
I have one but the black version not with blue the real deal still i feel that when i wear that watch everytime i honour sir roger moore he brought something special to the digital watches
Best Bond and one of my top 3 bond movies Moonraker Live and let die The spy who loved me Brilliant, exciting and hilarious Always leave me smiling And the music is awesome too
One of the most badass lines ever spoken in a bond movie "look after Mr Bond make sure some harm comes to him" & then there is Jaws the ultimate bad guy. Moonraker what's not to love.?
Interesting to see how they filmed those gondola scenes and how bland everything looks through an 8mm camera without music and sound effects. I loved Moore's Bond because he was sort of winking at the audience with his portrayal - as if he was saying "You know this is nonsense. I know this is nonsense. But they're paying me a King's ransom to do it so lets have a laugh." I haven't bothered to watch any newer Bonds since the first 20 minutes of Casino Royale with Craig which made me appreciate Moore and Brosnan even more.
The newer Bonds remind me of the first 'serious' Batman movie of 1989 where they tried making Batman believable. I managed to get about half an hour into it waiting for something to happen then left the cinema. It's like trying to make 'Downfall" as a slapstick comedy with pies in the face and Hitler slipping on banana skins.
Thanks for sharing this….. Fascinating to see how they filmed some of the “Bondola” action shots. As for Roger Moore in some of these clips; dictionaries could greatly clarify their written definition of the word “suave” - by simply inserting a closeup photograph of Roger taken from this footage….
Roger Moore was a very good Bond, very british and gentlemanlike. But then, of course, at some point he was too old for the role and no longer seemed credible.
I liked Roger Moore but to say his James Bond films were the best is just hogwash. They were akin to pantomimes, ok if you like that sort of thing but lets be honest, they were rubbish. In fact he virtually said so himself when he told an interviewer, Daniel Craigs Bond was so much better. He played it for laughs and that is what you got, hence the pantomime.
Good evening. 40 year's ago I was a young fan filmmaker on Super8 domestic films about scyfy such as "The Empire Strikes Back" l'm get into stop motion's movies. My idols are George Lucas and Gery Anderson. I love super 8 domestic films remastered Regards from Rafael Pozo from Madrid Spain. Bye.
Laughable how critics and fans alike blasted the Bond filmakers and Moore after 1980 because Moore "looked too old"!? When we now have the Keanu's, Neesons, and Harrison Ford's of the world kicking asses and doing the action hero thing STARTING at 50+ or 60+ into their 80s! Yes, Moore aged visibly after Moonraker, and Imo, For Your Eyes Only should have been the final Moore Bond. For me, Octopussy was a Bond low point, with View to a Kill even worse. Though Moore was in great shape and appeared to trim down for VtaK, the acting, dialog, pacing and direction and editing of that film were poor. VtaK had great casting and ideas, but poor execution. Both Octopussy and VtaK seemed like Bond parodies, especially the latter
While my generation grew up with Moore Bond, I think Lazenby would have done well through the 70s and maybe all the way to 90s, when Brosnan took over. After all, Lazenby looked more like Connery, though not that important, but was also ~12 years younger than Connery and Moore! Lazenby aged better too, looks fine in 80s now, appears to do Con s While Her Majesty's Ss was classy and 60s Bond-esque with some 70s traits as the decade was starting, the pacing, editing and direction were poor and sloppy, similar to View to a Kill. I think the culprit is director John Glen
First Bond flick I saw at the theater, when I was old enough. Mall megaplex, then on to KB Toys and another independent toy, hobby store in the same mall to buy the Revell Moonraker shuttle kit. Good times
