i did this to the T and i am getting a rattling like sound in 3rd and 4th gear??????????
@McLeodRacingClutches
@McLeodRacingClutches 14 дней назад
The noise you are hearing has nothing to do with the bearing, the throw out bearing rides against the clutch the clutch at all times if it was the bearing you would hear it in all gears. If you are hearing noises in 3rd and 4th gear it is most likely coming from somewhere else like either the transmission or driveline. Items to check: transmission mounts, driveshafts are tight, worn u-joints and driveshaft angles. If those are all good you may have an issue in the transmission itself.

When breaking in a new clutch if the ABS system is activated the clutch system will need to fight the braking system adding additional stress to the clutch and could pre-maturely hurt the clutch.

Mcleod tech support comes off as you're bothering them. I'm a 20 year Ford mechanic and when I explained the mechanics of the problem, he told it wasn't possible. i had to cut off .400 of the throw-out bearing pedestal{on the bellhousing, around input tube} to achieve proper clearance . Called back to relay info to tech support for anyone else who had this issue, wanted to argue than accept the facts of the situation. Great product, shitty customer service. Have a nice day.

@McLeodRacingClutches

No. The kit will work with the OEM pivot. However, an adjustable 16909 does make life easier. We supply the bronze busing because we feel that lasts longer over the entire life of the clutch. It has no moving parts to risk seizing up.

I just got my WS6 back today with this clutch installed. I also did the Tick Performance adjustable kit as well and I highly recommend the speed bleeder as well. It’s soooo hard to lay off the throttle but I know it’s for the best. And they are 100% accurate about the pedal feel. It is almost as easy as stock. Maybe a tad more pressure but nothing horrible. How are you supposed to properly break in dual disk if drag racing only???
@McLeodRacingClutches
@McLeodRacingClutches 9 месяцев назад
If the car is a dedicated drag race car, then you use a clutch made for dedicated drag racing like the McLeod Racing Soft Lok. The Soft Lok uses a sintered iron disc that doesn’t require a break in, drive around the pits to get some heat in it and go down the track. The RXT is primarily a street clutch first that can go to the track. But break in is critical for the longevity of the RXT.

I have about 1.5k miles on my RST in my 2003 mustang gt making 518hp. Is this chatter in the video normal? I did the break-in properly and had well over 1k miles of mostly city driving over 5 months before it went on the dyno. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YAXNe3QAaD0.htmlsi=D0Gi-BnCugDGOGX_ Seems to chatter the most at idle in neutral. Car has big cams and it shakes alot.
@McLeodRacingClutches
@McLeodRacingClutches 11 месяцев назад
That is not clutch chatter. That is an engine vibration. Clutch chatter is the disc doing a stop, go, stop , go action against its respective drive surface as your taking off from a dead stop. This action transfers up the pedal as a pulsation. What you are experiencing a vibration from the engine or even the clutch. We always recommend having the clutch and flywheel balanced by a machine shop prior to installation. This process eliminates the clutch assembly being a cause of the vibration. If you can’t find a shop to do it. McLeod offers this service. Reach out to our sales staff at info@mcleodracing.com and a member of our staff will be happy to help you out.

How can so many have the same noise/rattle problems? The RXT really gives me pause.
@McLeodRacingClutches
@McLeodRacingClutches Год назад
The rattle that is associated with twin disc clutches is from the “pin drive” floater plate design. The floater rattles against the pins when the clutch is released. This is not the case with the RST/RXT/RXT 1200 due to the spring steel strap that is riveted to the ear of the floater plate. This stabilizes the floater to keep it quiet and from rattling. Other noises that come from the Bellhousing would be pilot bushing/bearing or a bad throw out bearing.

I actually plan on installing this in my 2002 mustang GT, even though I only plan on 400 horsepower when I supercharged it, I like the sound of it being very easy to push in and being extremely smooth, plus with it being that good of quality I should never have to worry about the clutch. My mustang build is kind of a modern take on the car. I'm upgrading all the suspension, the brakes, putting either a Whipple or Eaton supercharger on it, upgrading the rear end to 373, and of course to a full exhaust from long tubes to an aggressive off-road x-pipe and I'm going with pype bomb cat backs, and of course the proper interior mods like very comfortable racing leather seats, a factory look steering wheel with racing features, the Cobra shift knob with a short throw shifter, and all buliitt or billet pieces. It's going to be gorgeous.
