Congrats on working Japan! I worked Japan on several digital modes but no voice modes yet. Its not as far as many other places I worked but it seems more difficult. I worked the east and west sides of Aussie in every mode including voice and even short pass is much further than Japan. The challenge is that we have to aim almost north to reach Japan via short pass and it is almost no water for the multiple hops needed to work eastern Asia. I have to go right over Alaska and the Bering Strait to reach Eastern Asia.

One pass of each of the birds I tried isn't really enough to 100% give my opinion but seeing the ISS and pointing at it as it went through the tops of trees usually doesn't phase the arrow and it wasn't hearing it so much that I switched to the arrow...

I love this satellite. It is actually easier to operate than AO-91. You can learn simple rules of operation by observing it. But you need full duplex. Otherwise it will be a waste of time. 73 de RA3VGD

@@w8cptCptDon to make a call on a satellite that almost no one works on, you need to hear yourself. even if i can hear myself, during the few seconds while i'm making a call, i have to adjust the antenna position because the signal is not very strong. this is a feature of so-121 you can make a call while the satellite is broadcasting the carrier signal - it will be a useless call. for some time after the carrier signal, your signal cannot be broadcast either. the satellite pauses. this satellite has its own behavior. you can understand them only using full duplex

I'm having a similar problem. I downloaded and installed AllStarLink3 -arm63-3.0.11 and went through the setup following Freddie Mack's video. I can't get the echo back functions to work and when I look at the Allmon3 dashboard it shows transmitting and I hear nothing but static on the HT. During the few brief periods of not transmitting I could monitor other nodes so I'm pretty sure it will work IF I can stop the transmit. I have some ferrite beads I will try.
