My organ teacher Frederick Carter was organist and choir director here from 1953 until he moved to Vancouver in 1968.He hired me as his asst here and coached me for my ARCCO and FRCCO exams. I had the sad honour of playing for his funeral. The choir sang Byrd's four-part Mass. For postlude I played one of Fred's 'party pieces' - the Bach P&F in B minor.
Finally! I have been looking for this version of the song for YEARS! We sang this back in 2006 when I was a little boy, and have never been able to find this version since!
A very interesting and enjoyable Platinum Jubilee musical evening. Well planned and researched. Thank you for all the hard work. I’m sure the congregation really appreciated the effort and loved the result. I certainly did.
What fabulous playing! Thank you, Peter. This is a less familiar Howells composition to me so I am delighted to be introduced to it with such an energetic and convincing interpretation. Utterly splendid.
Bravo Peter ! Most enjoyable and very glad to hear you play the Cathedral organ again after such a long while during the Covid 19 pandemic. I know you have been very busy elsewhere in your parish churches. Congratulations and best wishes.
At this, the lowest point in my life I have found comfort and peace within my soul thanks to this beautiful choir and these words of heavenly praise! Thank you Fr Thompson you redeemed my soul!
Jetta Handover: Mom What's That Stupid Sound! Clara Handover: Well I Think That Stupid Noise is Clifford Because i Think That He's Gonna B One Big Nightmare! By The Time Morning Gets There!
I love any and all from the Church of my forefathers;and always appreciate feeling a member from great distance. You welcomed us tho we were strangers,, even inviting us to sing with your Choir at Family Service. I felt surrounded by love and still long one day to return where I should love to rest in my final hour. I am still praying that one more visit will be possible. My 81 years are still,no hindrance but when Civid gives us a break Inwill Plan, God willing. At the least perhaps my ashes might be my final journey there. You are always in my heart!
The last I have found is the Baptism of John, son of Michael and I have his mother's name as well but will have to look at another record as U cannot recall her name at the moment,
It’s published in the hymnal “Thanks & Praise” (2015). I think that is the only current book it’s in - and it’s actually set to a different set of words in that book. The tune is called DRUMRAINEY.
