Me suscribo al canal....me ha gustado encontrar este canal..Por cierto,la historia de España es bastante más interesante que " Juego de tronos"... y fue real!!!!!😊❤
Many thanks for this wonderful interview with Professor MacCulloch. The mystery (and timing) of Gregory Cromwell's behaviour is so intriguing. Also Rebecca, if you have not yet had a chance to read Professor MacCulloch's, 'Tudor Church Militant - Edward V1 and the Protestant Reformation' - it is a tremendous read.
This was wonderful, I could have listened to him for hours. I love his book on Edward VI, who is my favorite Tudor, and have written several essays on him in my blog.
That was a very interesting interview! It would be so nice if you could invite him back at some future date. Thank you for including us on your adventure by expanding our horizons visually and historically!
@@TudorsDynasty Just wanted to let you know that I'm listening to a second podcast with Professor MacCulloch since watching your video. Such a great story teller! Thank you for introducing me to him!
What / where was the 12th c. church? I am so interested in how you put together your itenerary since you traveled so far and wide! Pls share about your travel planning if you have time!
The church was in Ashtead, near London. As far as an itinerary - I had a few stops I HAD to make for interviews and a few on my list of must-sees this trip, and after that I allowed my friend Nigel to choose and surprise me. I'm planning to return next year to some of the same plades but a few more and am hosting a tour. If you're interested in joining and want more information, please email me at rebecca@tudorsdynasty.com
Awww did you not go to the Tower of London? Looks like you had fun though. One day I'll get to see the Tower of London and Hampton Court Palace for myself. I'm on holiday visiting Alnwick castle the home of the Percy family. It is huge. Amazing. Next time you are in England I recomend you visit there.
Sadly, I only had half a day in London and had to go to the NPG to do an interview and then I only had time for one more stop. I chose Westminster Abbey over the Tower of London this trip due to proximity to te NPG.
Yeah, I've realized that if. you're gonna do England properly you need at least two weeks to do so. I'm planning a tour for next year if you want more information about joining me, email me Douglas at rebecca@tudorsdynasty.com
Hi Rebecca, you just look so happy. Enjoy the vagaries of UK weather. We are so lucky to be surrounded by millennia of landscape and buildings. Oh jet lag is grim xxx
We all have ancestors but very few of us actually turn up time and again high in a country’s founding. Great interview. I am in no doubt that my ancestors beat rushes, fed swine, and had only a tallow candle.
I live very close to Leeds Castle and we would take our kids at least twice every summer as it has lots to do for the whole family, a real maze, bird of prey show, plenty of kids play areas, beautiful manicured grounds surrounding the castle, lakes and streams and we now take our grandchildren for a day out .....the Open Air orchestra show is very very British themed and is brilliant.
Many thanks for this enjoyable broadcast. It never ceases to amaze me how knowledgeable and enthusiastic the guides are in the major historical attractions. They can really make the visit that bit extra special.
I visited there earlier this month so this video is a nice coincidence. Thanks Rebecca. The castle has a fascinating history, and I loved the contrast between the castle’s exterior and interior.
The name ‘Tudor’ belongs to a proud and honorable line of Welsh princes - it was NEVER used by the Lancastrian exile, Henry of Richmond, ie. Henry VII, nor his son Henry VIII nor his son, Edward VI, the last of the male Lancastrian kings. Nor was the name Tudor used by Mary I or her sister, Elizabeth until very late in her reign - why would they? It had no dynastic meaning nor legitimacy, not in 1485 nor in 1553 when the last Lancastrian king died without any heirs of his body. A brief, if bloody and destructive ‘dynasty’ .
I don't see how Firebrand can say that it's based on The Queen's Gambit at all! The characters are similar (at best) but the story is NOTHING like the book. Very odd.
Many thanks Rebecca for this enjoyable, interesting and informative interview with the Earl of Devon. There is something quite pleasing about the fact that, despite the Tudor line disappearing over 400 years ago - the Courtney family remain.
Buckfast is obviously one of those 'special' historical places that retain much from the past beyond mere stone. That St Thomas More's hairshirt has survived the ravages of time and fate is truly remarkable. Thank you for sharing your visit and many thanks to Mark, the window is truly impressive.
Beautiful place ❤ great video. Thanks for sharing. Going to watch another time now in a slower speed, because I'm curious about all of the beautiful details ❤
I expect it's a letdown in some ways...Thank you for sharing your adventures with us while you were away. Some of us won't have the opportunity to go, and it was nice to 'visit' vicariously through you! Take care.
