@@AroundTheWay_Jay ohh dang I did see it lol I’m old haha REN to me was best .. period I just don’t think I like battle rap either ..but I hear he is good w everyone now
Go check out Michelle Show. Dude is funny. But the whole thing started when Michelle show thought Knox was taking a shot at Dotta on Killshot. But Knox said he didn't know Dotta. Dotta went to the studio and made a track against Knox, so that's how it started. But killshot had nothing to do with the diss. It doesn't count. They also call King Dotta the boogyman. So that John wick line is what they that was toward Dotta. But Dotta got some fire songs.
@@AroundTheWay_Jay good reaction bro. Ren just drop a live one take yesterday, but tonight at 9 Chris Webby fet Ren is dropping. Hope it's fire. Webby Channel is For The Burbs
@@AroundTheWay_Jay I don’t know how that works. Maybe you could last summer at least? I don’t know why Dotta tagged all those people unless they were the ones he called out in his track maybe?
I just wanna see you’re in the 90s by Ren reaction and I almost commented about how you should watch the track. I’m so stoked that you’ve already done it.

This wasn’t a battle about real beef is the issue. Knox didn’t know who Dotta was, only responded because he got annoyed by Dotta going after his fans etc. Dotta does seem to genuinely dislike Knox, but he doesn’t seem to really have anything substantive to use that hits. So it was a bit of fun, most people decided Knox wiped the floor but then most people ignored Dotta’s last track as he was too slow with it, but even then, most people call it a draw at best for Dotta. That’s not saying no one thinks Dotta won, there were certainly some who liked the old school flows and don’t like Knox (sometimes for their own beef reasons - see the battle Scru started with Knox that has been simmering for years). So - fun - ultimately we as fans benefited from seeing them both flex. But no real winner - although personally, I thought Knox’s tracks were catchier, cleverer bars, and more innovative.
I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of reaction channels; especially in terms of Ren, Sam, and chinchilla, but some thing absolutely stood out about you when I watched this video and that is just how much passion you have about music and the joy it brings you. You’ve reference so many old-school artists and the nostalgia that you feel from their tracks you grew up to. This was an incredibly entertaining reaction and I definitely will be giving you a like and subscribe.
Thank you so much and I do have a passion for music it’s the only thing that makes me feel away from the world lol and this guy is special very special 🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪💪
40:34 this last bit - Dotta missed again when he had a good point to try to make. He’s suggesting Knox just copied what other people had already dissed Dotta about by playing samples back to back - but he doesn’t set it up well so when the few people who reacted to this track got to that part, most of them didn’t get it so it fell completely flat. It’s like he had a kill shot in the chamber and then failed to cock it properly and the unspent shell just got ejected useless on the floor.
39:55 - Dotta’s problem was that by the time he dropped that dis, no one cared. With Knox dropping 2 and Ren finishing things (you need to see that if you haven’t) then by the time that Dotta track came out, it played to an empty room. The party was over, everyone had said their goodbye to him as his casket went down and it was on to the next thing. Talk about missing your shot…which was exactly what Knox said in his Stan Remix. Dotta took a shot at someone way above him in reputation and fans etc, and he missed his chance. Hearing that track again after a while - it’s not actually as good as I remembered it being (I did bother listening at the time unlike many). It’s OK but it’s so monotone and “old school” it’s not what the culture is about /now/. Look at which track by Kendrick got the world saying he won - it is the antithesis of this. It’s tuneful, lyrical, catchy beat - you can dance to it! An analogy - it’s like someone showing up to a war today still wielding a sword. Sure it might be a really fancy sword that took skill and years to get good at making…but it’s a sword when everyone else is wielding machine guns. Bringing a knife to a gun fight…however you want to look at it. Sure, there are some people who still appreciate the skill and artistry of the “old school” but it’s not right for a modern battle. And that’s why Dotta remains salty to this day - because he doesn’t get that.
“You’re gunna meet your hero…you know the guy” … He’s talking about Justin Bieber, who has long been his hero and who’s career he’s tries to emulate. He also got the opportunity to go on tour and open up for Bieber.
30:10 - to explain this bit, you need to know that Ren jumped in as Dotta had been criticising him too, and they “agreed” to a rap battle. Ren said to do it “rap battle style” - meaning recorded live. In response Dotta wanted there to be no playing instruments as he can’t - and rules agreed, they set a date. Dotta dropped his diss track on Ren and also put out a video of him recording it to show he hadn’t re-recorded anything and he had done it “live” - but that bit in the video seemed to show he was reading his lyrics off his phone - hardly “rap battle” style was the implication. Anyhow, Knox dropped this second diss 24 hours after Dotta’s one before it and directly addressing things like that which were happening in real time, showing this wasn’t something pre-prepared, it was dropping a diss quickly and including new things - which really set the tempo of what everyone expected Dotta to have to respond to (since Dotta had made a big deal of Knox not responding for a few weeks as he was out of the country in the U.K. at the time) so when Knox surprised people by responding to a much smaller rapper, and then dropped a second diss in less than 24 hours, it was a real flex saying - you think you can battle me? I can do this every day! Which is key to understand why everyone called it over when Dotta didn’t respond quickly to Knox (but also because…you really need to see the Dotta/Ren disses for the full context).
27:55 - Dotta is always smoking on his videos and often saying how high he is - so yeah, it does seem he can’t get by without being high by his own admission. Yes it was true that Dotta had less than 1000 subs at this point. Yes it’s true that he’d tried to dig up dirt on Knox about being racist that really didn’t fly. Yes it’s true his video had dislikes disabled - although Dotta maintains to this day that he is too ignorant to know how to do that on RU-vid. I tend to believe him on that as saying “I’m too stupid to be that smart” would be a weird flex to deny doing it so it seems more likely he had nothing to do with the dislikes being turned off - but they were disabled as was confirmed by multiple people, but how it happened….thats unconfirmed. It should have only been possible if Dotta did it himself deliberately - but, he denies it so… But generally, yes everything Knox covered was verified.
23:15 - the start of that track is because “Eugene” is “the Michelle Show”’s real name of the Michelle show and others had been hyping Dotta up and also pushing the narrative that Knox had dissed Dotta first. They then also went overboard with the praise for Dotta’s diss - so Knox was saying that Dotta was “pleasuring” Michelle Show (Eugene) to get the hype….
Dotta’s first diss - I hadn’t listened to in a while and once he gets into the second half, it gets better. The biggest issue was he started off rhyming sh!t with sh!t way too many times, it was slow and ponderous and didn’t really get going for a bit. Then most of it is about Dotta being great rather than actually shots at Knox - which came over as insecurity instead of confidence. So most people didn’t rate Dotta’s first track that highly. I think on listening to it again, it is better than most people gave him credit for - but…if Kill Shot was a diss, I don’t think Dotta beat Knox on that comparison but it would be close. But since Kill Shot isn’t part of it really, we have to compare it with Knox’s eventual response…let’s see what you make of that.
Ah, so someone has told you Kill Shot was aimed at Dotta. The mistake seems to be thinking “speak a lotta dada dada” was “Dotta” combined with the line about the boogieman “babba yagga” (I think it is) as Dotta had adopted that name for himself or at least he’d adopted Boogieman and some people took the stretch of seeing babba yagga being also known as the Boogieman as meaning Knox was aiming at Dotta. Also Dotta has had people criticise his flow as being slow and mumbling and Knox does seem to be having a go at rapper who mumble. Everything was a stretch and when asked directly if there were sneak disses at Dotta, Knox stated no, he hadn’t intended any of it. So despite it being possible to look at the complex metaphors and slant rhymes etc that Knox had in Kill Shot as being a diss - it really wasn’t. So going into Dotta’s first actual diss, most people immediately saw it as clout chasing - remembering Dotta at the time had something like 800 subs on RU-vid and Knox had recently passed one million, so they really were and still aren’t, in the same league in terms of reputation and Knox had absolutely nothing to gain by dissing Dotta - while Dotta had reputation for starting beef with much bigger rappers. Anyhow - on to the first real diss track from Dotta - let’s see what you think of that.
Interesting to watch how much of this you include - starting with Kill Shot suggests you’ve done your homework in advance to understand how it started at least so I’ll be watching with interest as a lot of reactions to this mistakenly jump in with Dotta’s first actual diss (Knox’s kill shot didn’t actually have anything to do with Dotta but…we’ll see if you pick up on that)….
You had a good ole time lol Are you going to take requests during the week? Maybe you could take requests and put them in a hat on Sundays and pick songs out of the hat.. just a thought 💭 Like play one of yours and one from the hat so you can get your favorite ones in too 😊 had a hard time hearing what you were saying tho Heard music good
It becomes even more impressive when you remember that Ren isn't only a rapper! He's also an incredible singer, world-class songwriter, a poet, a player of about a dozen musical instruments, a sound engineer, a top-notch producer, a video director and editor, a first-class live performer and someone who writes and performs in EVERY genre and who doesn't miss! Oh, and he does it all as a fully independent artist, while in constant pain and suffering from a whole range of chronic health conditions! :) It's why you have to be careful when saying someone is "just like Ren" because nobody else comes close! :) An artist may be a good rapper. Another may be a great singer. One might be a great songwriter. Another may be a great producer. Someone could be an incredible live performer. An artist may be a wonderful acoustic guitarist, or electric guitarist, or bassist, or pianist... but who else does it ALL like Ren and to such a high level? Add in his award winning video directing and editing and his charisma, humour, intelligence etc and it's really not even close. :)
"Dust to Dust" would definitely be a good place to go next. Live from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. There's a lot of ground to cover with this band (a lot of history/music) it could keep you occupied for quite a while 🙂
