I have heard this music many thousands of times since I was a child, and of course I have the original double album, but this performance was able to recall the original atmosphere in me.
0:52 I don't see him pushing any stops to activate the Organ's Glockenspiel/Celesta. No way is this recorded as a single performance from one musician.
On theater organs there is something known as “second touch” where if you press certain keys a little harder, it can activate other sounds. So I think on the upper keyboard he presses down all the way to make the glockenspiel go. This also explains why they come in just a little bit after they should, because it takes time to fully press the key.
@@SuperOktav I know what to watch for, he is not using second touch for those parts. The organ is fully capable of midi playback so it's pre-recorded and "dubbed" in. A common trick on many modern theatre organ tracks. Almost like performing a duet with yourself.
I won't give this a dislike, but the musical passage that represents the end of the storm is played a bit too fast. The Gallopade is, however, right on point. Bravo!
🙏 so great to hear this beautiful music once again. Jelani and David played it in Middelburg, the Netherlands.I think that this was about thirty years ago ….. 👍👍👍
