We are passionate about training with Indian clubs, karlakattai, mugdar and meels! It's all about body and brain integration, strength, flexibility, coordination, and feeling awesome! We have invented the Pahlavandle™, a handle you screw onto a plastic bottle to create an adjustable Indian club up to 3kg. Look it up on ebay. Regards from Denmark!
No, I love YOU man! Way to take the discomfort out of making something out of wood, for those of us still learning those skills! I really appreciate your style and I'm going to make myself and my man one of these handy gadgets. I'm one of the ones who likes their wrists positioned in a particular way, to motivate me to take care of my gorgeous body in the hindu style.
This is a nice workout for an in- between day when I do not want to spend too much energy. Not too hard with 1,5kg that I use but it gets you moving. Workout 2 is more demanding in my view.
Amazing channel, thank you. How did you learn those moves ? I find it very hard to find good info about clubs and maces training (i started doing a lot of movements for my rehab with old hammers before learning it was an actual training methods used for centuries :))
Thank you. I have been studying the history and culture of strength training since the late nineties. Many of these moves are traditional karla kattai exercises combined with footwork that I found suitable. All the best!
To be honest, there is risk with anything you do in life, even not doing things... If in doubt, try the movements empty handed. A weight at the end of a lever can create some serious forces, so start light, listen to your body. Finding out for yourself is the probably the only way to know, all the best!
@@HeroicSport This is sad. I have hard time trying to find good quality, authentic india style wood club and gada. Your products seemed to be high quality. Do you have any clue for me to buy good wood mugdar ?
This may be the best instructional video I’ve ever seen. Super clear. Thank you. It’s interesting to me, even just starting out, how good and natural this movement feels. Merci encore.
Thank you for this. For some reason, I thought there was an extension of the forefinger on the saber. But it looks like we can maintain the same grip whether our elbows are bent or straight.
No problem. Some people teach the other technique, and as long as the clubs are really light, it's OK. It's like the ring grip, either keep all fingers on or release some digits. Sometimes it's a question of mobility. It's really hard to define right from wrong if one technique works better for some people. This is the way that makes sense from all my teaching experience, but even then I have had to compromise, and have tried all variations.
I am new to this practice and am swinging a 1 lb club. What I am not achieving that the demonstrator does is a continuous circular movement of the club after the elbow bends. Is this because my club is only 1 lb in weight? It seems that the demonstrator's club is much heavier.
It could well be. Unless you have shoulder problems, the recommended weight for males back in the hey day of Indian clubs were 1,2-1,5 kg for beginners. 1 lb clubs might not provide enough feedback, and those clubs are usually too short as well. Guidelines for optimum length is toughly from the crease of wrist to armpit.
@@HeroicSport Thank you! I am trying to get some mudgars and indian clubs done here in the mountains of Brazil with a locar carpenter....would it be possible for you share some specific measures to get the shapes and handle right?
The guidelines are roughly the length of your arm, from armpit to the crease of the wrist. That is the maximum length, nothing wrong with a bit shorter. Diameter of the handle about 4cm is great, 5cm if you have large hands. The weight will depend on the density of the wood. Trial and error. 3-5kg to start with, all the best.
I might be very wrong here, but this looks like you could do same with swords, such as practiced by the Seikh Warriors of today- Gatka Martial Art. It certainly looks so when the double clubs are in motion... Am I right or wrong, please?
