Thanks for the information, it was delivered in a frank and honest manner. I'm pretty sure I'll have to get done sometime over the next several years so now I'm a little better prepared.
I had my surgery and they took the catheter out the day after , I passed water without the catheter so was allowed home without it . The bleeding actually stopped after a couple of weeks but only had pain when urinating. Seven weeks down the line and sometimes still get pain when finishing urinating, hope this stops soon. Glad I had the operation as I’d had water retention due to enlarged prostate, I had the operation in Wigan in the UK .
I just bought a 10x14 used but in perfect condition for $100. Catch, I had to disassemble and move. I'll be about $300 in with truck rental, sawzall purchase and some new shingles. Two days working with my brother.... can't beat that!
@rid3withthewindvaj131 Depends on the make/model of your rifle. A packet of "O" rings came with my rifle but you can also google parts list for your make/model...
Again, thanks for your open, informative videos - really helpful in the honest detail. Wishing you all the best from the UK, and my regards to sunny California
Thanks for posting - I am considering getting a used K1600GTL and worried about lane splitting on a bike so heavy and large. I lane split all the time in California on the 405, 5 and 15 highways so used to it, on a BMW C650 Sport which is also relatively heavy. Your demonstration shows that it is not much more difficult on the K1600. I would get the Hornig narrow pannier lids and would not have a passenger, so even less challenging. I am 6'2" so should be able to keep the bike in check if I would need to stop at some point.
I just got back from another biz trip in LA. The last time I went I saw 3 bikes down on the freeway from lane splitting in one day. 1 was a smaller Harley and the other 2 were "crotch rockets." There are ways to do it safely and it mostly has to do with speed. I've had some idiots try to cut me off on purpose because they get frustrated and don't want me to "cut' in line I suppose. It's definitely possible on a big bike. Be cognizant of your speed relative to if that driver decides to change lanes all of a sudden in that open space can you avoid it. Be safe!
@grafenr.3405 You gotta watch this one....more important since you are about to have it! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-njreNva-1u0.htmlsi=CWJcoTju4X6aIJap
Hi l have a question , l bought a k1600 in 2018 , l rarely drove it but l did put 6000 miles on it and having changed the oil yet . I remember they told me when l bought the bike to bring it in at 300 miles for the first service . I my mind l have never done it , because l thought the wanted to take advantage of me because it coasted $500 . Now , l realize that l made a big mistake , my bike runs , but not good , specially when l’m in higher speed l feel life it doesn’t want to give me it potential . I’m planing to take it in for the first service after 6 years . I just hope that l did destroyed my bike . I’m so made of my stupidity because l bought it 30k brand new . Do you have idea what can happen to the bike if not oil changed for the first 6000 miles ?
Great technique, definitely ‘the way’ to success…..for those of us who have yet to do the impossible, a simple carpenter’s shim-wedge under the back tire (roll it up forward or back) provides enough lift or height to make the task much easier. A standard shim is only about 3/16” at the thick end, tapering to zero at the other end. The home-improvement stores have small packets over in the door sales area. 😎
i am going to have turp surgery in oct 5 ,2024 ,watched a lot of videos , i m dr too ,got a good knowledge , my age is 64 , however where ever i saw people are worried about sex life , where as my feeling is we have done enough in life , but people only worried about sex life , where as in our part of world pakistan wives are also not interested in sex , any more , may have it or not dont make nay difference to them
I understand I think what you are saying. I think that is a personal decision and still important to some, especially if their wife is younger than the patient. I had a lot of questions about it which is why I addressed it in this video. For those that aren't worried but want more information about recovery, my first video is packed with information: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-njreNva-1u0.htmlsi=ukOj4PqsAJCIBObb
Thank you so much for this informative video! <3. My husband just underwent this procedure, and I am wondering if you experience chronic fatigue for several days/weeks following the surgery?...im quite worried about it, and wondering if you felt the same way...
@Thecakecrusader15 I only recall it for first few days. Watch the other video. You can see what my demeanor was because I shot that video while recovering. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-njreNva-1u0.htmlsi=PVp5b7SCl3K0Y3Jq
The board technique seems to highlight if the center stand was a half inch shorter it would be much easier. There would still be clearance under the rear wheel as well.
@davesouza9707 I took finisteride and alfuzosin for about 6 years until it pretty much wasn't working anymore. I hate taking meds but recommend you do that as long as possible first.
Hi, this is day 15 after TURP. Just wanted to give you a quick update. The burning/ stinging sensation after urinating IS Strong! but I have been managing it with those pills that you told me to get. They don’t completely wipe out the pain but it does take a strong edge of it and my urine comes out neon orange. Anyway, I still have urgencies in going to the restroom at night , but not as bad as before the surgery. Before the surgery I did spend a good while self -catherizing which became pretty easy, and strongly alleviated the frequent urgency to 90%, but now after the surgery is not necessary. Anyway, my scabs and small blood clots are coming out, but they do sting. I also was told that that my prostrate and urethra are still inflamed due to the surgery and that’s normal and it will go down and that is generating the temporary urgency that I have at night.
I think that is a bit longer than my recovery in terms of stinging etc., however still sounds like you are on the right track! The pills definitely take the edge off. Congrats.
2 weeks post surgery today. The first week fell across Labor Day weekend and my cath stayed in for a week. That was the worst part, just a huge annoyance along with some minor discomfort. Getting rid of that thing was pure Heaven. Very little post op pain but for some irritation and burning at the end of the pee. The blood level goes right along with the level of activity. I began passing some small clots over the past few days. Today, the doctor says I'm doing well - pathology was clear and symptoms are normal. Oh by the way... I'm peeing like I can't remember how good. Don't put this off, guys... it's not a big deal.
Sounds a lot like my experience. I think the one thing I would do differently is talk to the doc about the removal of the cath and make sure it's not extended due to holiday or doctor's day off etc. Thanks for posting.
Im on day 7 going to hopefully get catherter removed tomorrow, I am a little worried as I distended my bladder before getting surgery. My recovery has been pretty much as you described, only had to take pain meds twice at night to sleep better. Thanks for all the info, very helpful.
@@californiahikebike Thanks man, I just drove 2.5 hours home as I live in a very rural area. Got rid of my catheter friend and passed the voidance test this afternoon. I feel very lucky, no leaks no need for depends no frequent urges so far! Shout out to my surgeon Ernesto Lopez at West Kansas Urological in Hays Ks. He is evidently a good one!
Hello I appreciate you for having the courage to speak out on this I feel so much better about my surgery my doctor hasn’t set the date yet I’m 58 years old I know what it’s like having a catheter 😮 it’s no picnic
About a year and half since turp. Very thankful for the ability to piss when I need to and be done. Unfortunately it also wiped out any chance of a normal sex life. Asked about it and was told basically it’s the way it will be. Stuck with a dead dick.
Hey my friend, this is Neil again, if you by any chance go by Santa Rosa, please let me know I would like to personally give you a hug and thank you for the information that you have given me. Anyway, on a different note: how often were you changing your absorbable underwear during the day after your catheter was removed?
Definitely! I will take it easy. I do have to come back at 2pm, they will do an ultrasound on my bladder just to make sure that I am emptying it completely after I urinate ….
@neilortiz7216 Don't listen to your body when you start feeling better. Too easy to over do it. Follow doc's instructions on length of time after surgery and before certain physical activities, including not lifting over 20 lbs.
So I already did my first pi without the catheter about 45 minutes after my catheter was removed, it wasn’t that painful, it was like a waterfall with a short duration.
Brian, Melbourne Australia here. I've known this has been coming for me for a few years now but seeing and hearing you certainly takes a bit of the stress out of it. Much appreciated and a great video. Will get back here after I have had mine done. Cheers
Yeah for the years I was taking the meds I knew it was in my future as well. And there was definitely some trepidation on my part before getting it. That was one of the main reasons I did this video....Thanks for stopping by!
I'm right at my 6 months now Aug 2024 from TURP surgery and I can say its great! Just like I was in my 30's and I'm mid 60's now, Everything Rob says in this video is pretty much the same as I had experienced! I waited to long to have this done because I was scared but now I wish I had done it at least 5 years sooner
Great video and thanks for the info. I had the procedure 1 week ago. Had the catheter removed 2 days later. I voided fine at the doctor appointment. So far, so good. I am experiencing the post surgery things that you mentioned, like the reddish/cherry urine and scab tissue here and there. Had a lot of stinging pain at first, but that has subsided a lot. Definitely need to drink plenty of plain water. My doctor went over everything and he explained it all very well. Everything has pretty much went as he said it would up to this point. Watching videos on the procedure will definitely help give some insight on it also. I see my doctor next week for follow-up. Again, great video, very informative!
I'm scheduled for a TURP in a week. I've had a green light laser procedure 6.5 years ago, however the urine flow has gotten reduced again. The first time around, I wore a Foley cathetor for one month prior. I opted to wear the cathetor over the self cathetor as I could not get relief for very long using the self cathetor. My experiences with the laser seem consistent with yours here. If the cathetor is the worst part of your situation, then I should have this made.
For me, the catheter was definitely the worst part. The grueling part was when I felt better but was still supposed to take it easy. Overall, it's been a good experience and it's almost 2 years later.
