Oh, golly, I must have taken this train several thousand times to and from UIC. Ah, the memories... and the soul-destroying ten hours a week on public transportation.
I made history by riding the first sb train into the new tunnel from Howard st to 95th st and back to Washington and State and took another sb train to Ashland/63rd, trains going both ways that day. It was fun.
I remember seeing and riding the Evanston Express cars on the Dan Ryan line when we had that deep freeze and snowstorm. I was still in high school and yes i had to ride them!
I remembered when i rode past the Wilson St shops and they just put that fire out, I was on the Jackson Park Howard L riding to Washington/State station.
I rode the 2000 series on the Evanston Express, the former West-northwest 6000 series and i rode the early 6000 series flat door cars with trolley poles on top too

@@Nvideofilmsproductions I don't understand. The tops of 3200, look like today, 2005, 1990's. They don't change....except the former Yellow line cars. They are the roof boards.
Wilson burned down in 1996? Library wasn't opened til 1997? OPTO Purple was June 1997. I'm guessing this was spring 1997. Some red line 2600s aren't OPTO ready yet
I was unaware that they actually ran proper express trains that actually skip stations. Shame that the purple line now stops at most stations it passes by
Yes. There were three types of 3200's......the ones with no roof boards....ones with roof boards.....ones with fixtures for roof board but none ever added.
1997 or 1998? Love seeing the 2600-series BELLY CARS on the Red line. David, I'm sure you had to have seen me running motor sitting in the tower. Did you have control of that old school destination sign that faced SB motor people?
Any cars that is using PCC technology is PCC. Robinrosenberg9065, your definition is DO STRICT. The "PCC" ("Presidents' Conference Committee") originated from the design committee formed in 1929. It was renamed the "Electric Railway Presidents' Conference Committee" (ERPCC) in 1931. The group's membership consisted primarily of representatives of several large operators of U.S. urban electric street railways plus potential manufacturers. Three interurban lines and at least one "heavy rail", or rapid transit, operator-Chicago Rapid Transit Company-were represented as well.
Must be Jan-Mar of 1997. Purple and Red line equipment not OPTO ready yet. 2 car Purple line trains in snowstorm when cta wasn't afraid that employees wouldn't know how to operate in snow
