thats all bs, inital d did show nobody how cool jdm is, fast and the furious and need for speed underground did. a few years ago, most people didnt even know that anime. social media did make it big. i remember back in the days i did watch it and had literally nobody to talk about it, because nobody did know it.
cars lost their soul in mf ghost you can tell there is no actual grit and love behind them even if its modern or whatever it just doesnt capture what initial d did all those years ago
i keep rewriting this comment about why i enjoyed ZnT, including the opposing of critics' negative points: - i enjoy the vague character motivations and choices - characters make VERY brave choices without much explanation. It keeps the characters feeling like real, flawed people and we the viewer feel confused and unsettled. it's refreshing to see an anime which doesnt tie up literally every characters' reason for everything they do. - I enjoy the weird interspersed scenes like flashbacks to the settlement, ep6 feather scene and the motorbike scene - its as if these scenes keep the show on track, and they arent possible in a non-anime show. - i like how literally dark the show is. Most anime are colourful and bright, as if the viewers are children. ZnT doesnt do this, and the art style really matches the irl shows and real life that it mirrors. - ZnT doesnt hold your hand. Missing a minute of dialogue might just leave you in the dark about what is happening in that episode, but it really adds to the 'We know as much as a person in their situation would' feel. Each short scene is intentional (although this might just be bc of how short it is) in summary a lot of the reasons critics dislike ZnT are why i love it. Its just so unconventional and personal. This isnt even mentioning the OST and animation quality. I also sort of dislike shibazaki's character - he feels a little too perfect for this show.. lol
I'm gonna have to call some rose-tinted glasses with this review. Initial D is a classic, no doubt, but it had the benefit of being a pioneer in its genre. The action is exciting, the music is great, the sounds of the cars are good. But in your review you keep on going back to, "well, the story is no Initial D". Is the story in Initial D really THAT good though? I suppose one of the best parts of the Initial D story is that we do sort of grow with Takumi, we see him evolve from a clueless dude into a street legend. However having gone back and rewatched the first few seasons of Initial D again, I'm super frustrated with how empty and two-dimensional so many of the characters are. Takumi at first is like, frustratingly clueless. Itsuki is almost only there for comic relief. Iketani felt like he was only there to help advance the plot. Don't even get me started on the female characters, especially in Stage 4, they're some of the worst written female characters I've ever seen. Kyoko from Fourth Stage who drives the black RX7 (you would be forgiven if you forgot her) is THE most empty character I've ever seen. The whole crux of her character comes down to the fact that she has an RX7 *just* like Keisuke does! Wow! What a great setup for a romance subplot! The fan service is even worse in the manga, it's bad in MF Ghost but it's really nothing new to this series. Fourth Stage in particular starts to fall apart because it just becomes boring. There's only so much they could do with the formula they wrote themselves into, it just becomes a very dry, stretched out series of events. You only end up watching it for the races, which by that point are also so nonsensical and over the top it's hard to enjoy. To me, Initial D is almost like the better Fast & Furious movies. The action is interesting, watching cars race is cool, but you're never going to ever give a shit about the story. The story is just a mechanism to keep the races and action going. It's a shame MF Ghost couldn't evolve the blueprint Initial D left into a story that is genuinely interesting, with actual nuanced and detailed characters, but if you read Initial D's manga especially, its not all that surprising. He's got a good eye for making an engaging story with the racing, but his ability to write personable characters is nil.
4:51 the regulation is grip to weight ratio not power to grip ratio. Power is unrestricted so they started calling it the rich man's regulation because everybody racing started using high horsepower european models which were unattainable unless you were rich
I mean i don't think so in my opinion Since everything in Initial D was just so good and the scenes are all iconic because of the Eurobeat songs whenever something crazy is about to happen
This anime was terrible. I finally stopped at episode 7. Like, seriously this girl is so damn annoying. She is straight up toxic. All she does is piss off the ML and insult him. I would pick Wolf Girl and the Black Prince over this trash.
nah. cgi music anime? we already have bang dreams. and this shyt is just premiered after Bocchi the rock with good musics and animation? nah. it doesn't sells good for me. overrated fr😂
Tamako Market is the positive atmosphere we strive for and hope for, the direction of Tamako Market is meant to stay exactly where it is, we're taking the perspective of visitor in the form of the talking bird, Dela.
At least Initial D races are somewhat believable. Sorry MFG but there isn't a single bit of road or track in the world where that 911, 488 and Huracan would be challeneged by a GT86 that isn't a full out race car on slicks and with at least GT4 levels of downforce. The GR86 Cup car though, that would be a different story.
I agree with most of your takes in this video, but I've got some news for you... If you are against "sexualization" in anime, in general, then anime is not for you. Your take about this is ice cold. People take this stance because they think it will make them look less like a creep, or that it will win them favors with women, but it doesn't. What's more, the sexualization in MF:G is so mild, that you earn nothing by complaining about it. I'd also like to point out that this kind of mild element is also very in-character for Initial D as a franchise. Even in the original season of Initial D, there was sexalization (Mogi was doing paid dating, and Mako was practically throwing herself at Iketani.) On the other hand, you have this girl from MF:G who is practically dressed in a burqa compared to the girls they wheel out for wrestling promotions. Please give up this ridiculous point of view, and just go join a monastery or something if you are going to be such a prude.
honestly the moment I've heard the boring soundtrack I was so disapointed I just could not force myself to watch it anymore... The music was like 50% of what made initial D so great so when I've heard the wimpy and soulless music of MF ghost it was a deal breaker...
Even 1080p anime on a 1080p monitor looks noticably crispier when at fullscreen, dare I say almost perfect with the high-end shaders. I like Ctrl+6 (C+A) the most. I have an RX 5700 (non-xt) For those who don't see the input.cfg and mpv.cfg. At 3:10 instead of copying the lines of text you will have an option to download the "template files" zip file. The input.cfg and mpv.cfg files will be inside that zip folder, just move them to mpv net folder, no need for editing files anymore
Well if they do a 1 for 1 adaptation of the manga, it runs on nostalgia factor with the exact formula as Initial D, the MFG Angels as your standard fan service and street circuit style racing. What I really dont like are the so called "tourists" with the conventional racing arguments such as: -how can an 86 beat a Ferrari -how can bigger tires make a car slower and lose grip on corners and your average western anime fan: -pedophile 21 year old hits on 17 year old girl -why are they dressed like that. Its as if people forget its an anime. At the end of the day, I still prefer Initial D over MF Ghost but its always nice to watch cars go fast with accompanying eurobeat even it doesnt make sense in the real world.
Bro could easily go to the police and ask help to find his stupid dad without the convoluted plot of joining a looked down upon racing event, where 99% of the drivers are so incompetent that they're almost beaten by a guy in an underpowered budget sports car while the rules makes zero sense. Remember that this is the 4th year of this competition has been running, there are no rules against aero nor modification, and yet nobody is exploiting this gaping abyss of a loophole.
