CATtales. Thank you so very much for talking to Zal. Really interesting and a massive insight. Zal you gave us SAHB fans a cult to follow to our graves! "Do you believe me?" RIP Alex, Chris, Hugh & Ted. Never Forgotten.
It makes me a bit sad when Zal said here he wanted more of his playing and felt his place was more of the expanded higher level of Zeppelin and Deep Purple. He WAS at that level with his supreme musicianship but he was a little bit tied up in SAHB. Still, Zal has a great career to be proud of.
Absolutely, SAHB had & still has a huge cult following. Zal much loved and he has lived through something many can only dream about. Keep it up Zal me old Mucka!
I have enjoyed listening to SAHB for many years. Alex was a brilliant performer with a brilliant band behind him. The band was as important as Alex and the two together was a marriage made in. heaven.
One thing nobody should forget. Back in the 70's many of us went to see 'Slade' (For me, Birmingham Town Hall). SAHB were the supporting act, someone I'd never heard of. When Alex appeared on stage, the derision he received was quite vocal. HOWEVER!, after the set, many of us came away from that performance with the opinion that SAHB blew Slade out of the water.
Very underrated Guitarist was Dave, I love Slade still to this Day , I just re bought the Slade Alive Album on limited edition vinyl. If I had straight hair in those days I would have got the Dave Hill cut 🤣👍🏻 Your outfits were legendary and no one had a style like Dave, 👍🏻

John mentioned Eddie Haynes who was with Premier drums. I spoke to Eddie who has now sadly passed at a vintage drum show many years ago and he had lots of stories about famous drummers at the time. He even gave me an old pair Premier cuff links. Years later I got to meet John, again at a vintage drum show, it was great talking to the man I worshiped when I was a young Quo fan.

Hi Cat, SQ were the very first band I saw live in '74. As they say, you never forget you're first. Quo were huge in Australia back then and John was the engine room. Saw them again 30 years later, still awesome.

I saw them about 20 years ago and they were great, sadly without John, but I also loved John’s Quo when I saw them live too, so double the opportunity to enjoy! Xx

One of the best moments I ever had watching a live band was standing at the front of the stage in Troon wearing my Frank Zappa T-Shirt, whilst Zal played a solo TO MY FACE not 3 feet away. I could smell the notes. Thank you Zal.
