lol couldn’t agree more. I keep telling my wife how lucky they are. She told me one “I think you’re jealous of your own kids.” I said, “hell yeah I am” lol.
No doubt solo is fun. However, there's something special about getting together with a great group of people for a shared experience/adventure. There's more than one way to have fun. Just like there's more than one way to experience Baja. I think you need to experience something like this before making an accurate comparison.
It would be really cool if you guys could do a video at some point that covers the best trucks for Baja - Gen 1? Gen2? Gen3? What suspension and mods work best and are battle tested? What stuff have you seen issues with? That would be awesome! Thanks!
Came across this vid from a Raptor forum. Just bought a 2023 Raptor and it came with 37s all around. The truck, however, was a 35. I off road this thing (it’s also my daily) and was worried about the repercussions from the 37s. Nice to know I’m all good!
There is a car wash guy in San Ignacio. On the right next to the auto parts store where the road from town hits Hwy 1. His name is Ernesto. He’ll bring his wash setup to your hotel if you have several trucks that need washing.
One of the best videos put out by you guys yet! Why? Because we get to see the behind the scenes carnage and it's just not visiting the missions and making it seem like everything is okay. Shit breaks and we want to see how you handle it (very well by the way). I think this helps people still on the fence feel better about signing up for something like this. Great job as usual!
Thank you for the feedback! I was kind of hesitant to show the carnage because I don’t want to scare people away. We usually don’t see this much. I ultimately decided it was best to show what is pretty much the worst we’ve experienced and how we handle it. It must be karma - the video we planned to show the behind the scenes turns into the biggest shit show lol.
They'd have to actually go down there before trolling lol. Actually, the ones who troll self identify as not having any real experience because if they did, they'd know this comes with the territory. We've had a couple toyotas on the runs over the years, several have mechanical issues as well.
Thank you for sharing! What a great adventure! Which trucks did best reliability wise, modified vs stock vs 1st and 2nd gen Raptors vs regular Ram vs TRX? Just curious, I have owned 1st and 2nd gen Raptors and not drive a 2024 F350 HO SRW Tremor. I see you have one as a chase truck, how’s that truck do?
Honestly pretty much all the issues were due either poor prep/maintenance or aftermarket parts like the progressive coils on stock shocks. We have now seen over 13 trucks have their shocks separate from the shock hats on our runs. All have been running an aftermarket coil spring. So If someone is going to level their Raptor with stock shocks, due it with the lifts that replaced shock hat. SDI makes some. The drive shaft fell out due to the leaf bolts being loose. So doing a nut and bolt check before a run is important. My starter failed due to the silt and that can happen to anyone. I’ve done those silt beds several times of the years and first time that happened to me. In short - stock or stock with bolt on shocks and bump kit are the most reliable. SVC Midtravel is as far as I’d go performance wise while maintaining good reliability. I can also say we have never had a run with this many issues. We have each of these issues happen but they are usually spread across several runs. So had some pretty bad luck. This run definitely put us to the test lol. Each generation is about equal when it comes to reliability. The new 23 chase truck is amazing! The power combined with the 10 speed pulls effortlessly. I just finished dialing in the suspension and bag setup. Rides like a big couch on a cloud while towing now. Icon stage 4 2.5” lift. So 2.5” shocks, front coils, adjustable trac bar. Also added their progressive rear leafs along with some airlift air bags that I customized to worth with the lift.
Sure did on this one. It’s not normally like this. By far set a record for any run we’ve done. Most of the issues were due to poor prep/maintenance or poorly designed aftermarket parts.
