@@TeenyPort VW was going to do a .5 or 1/2 release like it did to it previous generation even if the MK8 GTI came out looking like the car in the video, just to extend its platform's production life. The .5 or 1/2 is a subtle refresh/ facelift generation of the current model. It's still an 8th gen platform with some minor or subtle upgrades in tech, looks, performance etc. Usually, all car makers refresh their currents after being in the market withing 4-6 years. The GTI is one of the 3 VW's models that I know to add a .5 to its platform after a refresh after the mk7.
