Here’s the deal. Some dealers will intentionally advertise an insanely low price to reel you in. Then they’ll tack on the crazy fees. Because of this, you should expect to pay at least some of these fees or else they won’t make a profit.

Had a dealer show up to view my car claiming to be a student, when I asked for proof of a license, I saw that he had the last name of a large dealership chain owner. He then admitted to being a dealer. Took the test drive and refused to give my keys back unless I agreed to have their mechanic go over it (figured it was a ploy to get a lower price). Said okay, he gave the keys back and I ghosted him after that. Very very sleazy dealership chain in Windsor Ontario, sure people here know whom I'm speaking of.
Last year I went to the state fair and saw something I neve expected. A corvette that was cheaper than a jeep. I keep telling myself that The Matrix had a glitch. I do wonder how much cheaper cars would be if say 50% of upper management didn't exit.
#3 happened to us once. We threatened to call the cops if the keys weren't back in our hands in sixty seconds and the key materialized pretty quickly. Needless to say, that was not the dealership we did business with. It was a shame, because that was a pretty nice car, but the one we ended up with was a better deal with lower mileage.
Don’t they sometimes do what’s called a work sheet showing not only the OTD price but also the general APR u could expect prior to a credit check and prior to the F&I office ? If not what’s the difference in a work sheet and a OTD write up? I heard this mentioned in one of Kimberly’s videos .

I was just dealing with Kia (Sorento hybrid). They came down some, offered a soso trade in, in the end I took it. I accepted the offer after we went back n forth BUT...BUT....throughout this process and at the very beginning I specified one item that was a must have (ambient lighting)....he told me multiple times this car had it. The sticker did not show it, all the car details did not show it so I asked again (at least 6th time now) and he assured me in was on there. So, on the sales day I drove the 1.5 hrs, went to the bank on the way for a cash deposit.....get there and the first thing he says is we have a "little" issue you aren't gonna be happy about....yeah, that ambient lighting that I asked about multiple times was not on this car. Needless to say I had steam coming from my ears and every other port on me, I was so pissed off.....I got in my car, drove the 1.5 hrs back,,,,he sends 10 or so text offering another car, PLEASE GIVE ME a CHANCE....I said you had your chance. I really wanted this car, now I am too pissed off to even look at it and I certainly would not go to this dealer.
Your channel has a video dated 4 years ago that says to never pay cash at a dealer. But in this video, you offered to write a check and was offered 7,500 rebate. Maybe you should make an updated video on paying cash?
Lynn Hickey Dodge in Oklahoma City was notorious for refusing to give back your keys after appraising your trade. They were everything a dealer shouldn't be.
Prices up, quality down, customers don't have the choices they used to as everything is packaged in a way to make dealership and manufacturer money. I'm sorry, offroad and towing packages don't have fog lights to see where they're going but a fancy electronic does? and stop with all the Fing start stop bullshit! give the customer a choice! Bring back manuals lol! Ford with their teeny engines, dodge with their weird package groupings in their 1/2 tons. Then there's the children buying trucks and using them/decking them out like a car instead of a truck because muh image needs boosting causing the EPA to get pissed at the manufacturers causing them to do BS like the start stop or teeny engines... oh wait... .
I have a 2008, 250k miles truck, a bit rusty and temperamental, I have repaired by hand enough parts that it should be considered a Frankenstein and had the engine worked on a number of times. I will continue to drive it for as long as possible. only a year or two ago a 1500 basic bighorn with almost no additions was something like 60k to 80k with a few packages, I just did a build on Dodge's website for a bighorn with the level 1 bighorn equipment and the offroad package, 56k. Now if we can just get these twits to not put the start/stop bs on every engine and give customers a choice, maybe even bring back manuals. KEEP WAITING BOYS AND GIRLS.
I went to a dealership 30 years ago and they made a disparaging comment about my car. That rubbed me the wrong way and when I saw they weren't doing a good job on the price of the new car, I wanted to leave but they took forever to get my car keys. I learned to make sure the salesperson where the keys are when negotiation gets to trade-in, because if they know what they want for my car they no longer need those keys.
Used car salesmen are getting cars from insurance paid in full....fearing not to disrespect like it's a 3k bicycle.....I can't never have started a car which was not battery related.....homes and cars can't do and would pursue in perfection because I am harder Stoopid but better than a women.....ibreath not breed.....🪠wish I had childhood cancer🪆 so I and america wouldn't have to grow up and hate my life and Americans...🪶🪽🪶🪽🪶🪽🧮

Stellantis just kind of sucks. They’ve always had quality issues, but at least ram, chrysler, jeep and dodge were cheap. Not anymore. Their feature over function philosophy extends to everything as they just keep adding more and more barely functioning features that rely on other barely functioning features. Modules ontop of modules, and the results are comical.
Years ago I had a dealership state that they misplaced the key to my trade in. I surprised them when I said "That's OK, I have another one in my pocket.....LAPD will be back for that one." They had someone sprinting out to my car with it as I was backing out of the parking spot. I shared that experience with everyone I knew for years to keep them from experiencing the same thing.....especially at that dealership.
I just had a dealer from a nationwide dealer chain try to get me to sign a retail installment contract (financing through them) telling me that it was required to give to my bank for my own financing. Their interest rate was 9.99% and mine was 5.49%. Made them give me new paperwork with a cash only deal.
11/30/23 I bought my ram 3500 with msrp of 88k for 70k otd. I believe its time for lowball offers. Do i think its an 88k truck? no. but it was still less money than a ford or chevy by 10k.
When you watch any of the "Ask a mechanic, which car would you not buy" videos, the answer is almost always Jeep. Plastic thermostat housing designed to fail at 3k heat cycles causing blown engines says a ton about how much they care about the customer.

You guys always say "Don't Pay Cash"....so what if I have the cash but I finance thru the dealer, I think this would get me a couple grand off the car....then when I close the deal and it's mine I just pay off the loan???
Dealers are often more incentivized to cut you a deal if you finance through them because they expect to make that up in other ways. For example jacking up the interest rate of the loan (search car edge for buy/sell rate). Negotiate a good deal, finance, then when you get your bill pay off the loan in full. If you tell them up front you have cash in hand they know they won't make any money on the loan they sell you from the bank.
I have been researching buying a vehicle and on some websites the carfax is free when you click on it and some dealership websites you have to pay when you click on the carfax icon. I would PASS on buying a vehicle from any dealership that doesn't offer the carfax FREE on their website. If they will do that, they will do other stuff too.
Maybe if the auto manufacturers actually put out good products and not try to screw over the consumer things would be different. I have a 2015 Ram 3500 that has at last check, 28 recalls. WTF?! So they overcharge for a junk product that’s going to spend more time in the shop than in my driveway. No thanks on buying a new vehicle.
Gentlemen: I understand your platform is to educate potential car buyers on the how to’s and then the general state of the US car market. Stellantis however, is NOT in North America to manufacture and sell vehicles, especially ICE platforms. They are specifically directed by the EU elite to push the agenda. This will be done no matter the fall out and the TOTAL destruction of CDJR is just part of the plan. They must be backed by the IMF. Look at the losses in their stock, current losses, it doesn’t matter. Carlos Taveres was recently in front of the French government COMPLAINING about any course change to the agenda. Carlos will get a golden parachute because he was a good soldier. There is some change coming depending on results in November.
If the sales person came back with $26,000, I’d get up and walk out. I’m sure I’d hear “Hold on a minute. Look, what if…” I’d say I’m sorry, but this isn’t going to work, and obviously you’re just wasting my time, so…bye. Seriously, if they start out with that kind of BS, what’s the point? They’re either stupid or underhanded or they’re bad at their job. Either way, I’m not going to deal with them.
