Thanks for sharing your experience. Great energy! Especially with applications like goodreads, you kind of feel the pressure to finish your books (or it doesn't count 😅) And I agree, self-help books can only take you so far. Eventually, you end up in some sort of empty paralysis mode. Good stuff!
Great video lam! The part about self help book resonates with me a lot. I think self-help books in a way, is like diminishing return principle in economy. After N amount of books we read, the ideas are the same wrapped in different words. I'd also argue our content consumption habit (Tiktok, reels, etc) tends to cut our attention span heavily, hence making it harder for us to focus on a book for longer. Liked and subbed
You have to go with the flow instead of fighting against the current; It can be really hard to accept that though, because we've been trained to go in a specific direction but the river doesn't flow that way anymore...
I understand when u say "doing 2 things, reading and try to understandins..." I read a lot of books in foring languades (Spanish and Englis) and sometimes, especially in Spanish that I still getting fluency, I need to do this 2 things... Great video Man!!!
Thank you for this, I should read more I think maybe the audio book option would help I am an early riser like you and usually by end of the day I am pretty tired.
This video popped up on my recommended and I legit assumed it had 300k+ views. Shows how high-quality your content is man! Keep doing what you're doing my brother, you're on the right path. P.S. Naval was the guy that got me into reading often so I'm glad you appreciated his approach too!
@@LamarrG I try and religiously re-read the most influential books to me, among which I found to be the navalmanack, poor Charlie’s almanack, can’t hurt me by David goggins as well as others in the self improvement space. However I’ve also gotten deep into fiction & literature, currently strolling through the idiot by dostoevsky. But what about you man? What’s been catching your interest?
Nice bro, i've heard a lot of good things about Charlies Almanack and for David Goggins what can i say the guys a beast. I'm currently reading "How to Read a Book" By Mortimer J Adler. Just to learn how to fully extract details out of a book and improve as a reader. Im also looking for book in Philosophy aswell, can you recommend any?
This video is important! One of the reasons why I procrastinated getting started on my RU-vid and developing the skills to create. I just read loads of books thinking I was making progress but it was a false illusion. Only when I took action and sat in front of the camera was when the real development started. Thank you for this video bro 👊🏾👊🏾.
Words are the same regardless. Weird way to gatekeeper reading. If it makes it easier and more accessible I don’t believe it is less of an ‘actual way to read’.
I’m on my third Kindle and love it. Rarely do I buy physical books these days. I love that I can read a book and no one knows what it is. It could literally be any book, any genre. Hope you managed to clear that shelf off above your head.
