@@JonathanKWiddup I understood your review. I just don’t think any of the movies you mentioned were as good as this one or that there’s several movies since infinity war/endgame that come close to this
I know you have to go to showings as early as possible for your reviews, but i dont envy you that. I just wait til the least crowded weeknight showing the week after opening to avoid people in the theaters.
Glad you enjoyed Furiosa as much as I did! And yeah I guess I have the same nitpicks, especially with score not being as epic as it was in the trailers or Fury Road. I just hope that the unfortunate Box Office performance doesn’t prevent George Miller from making the standalone Max story he’s been working on. Seeing Tom Hardy again as Max, being the real lead this time, would be incredible!
I do want to see this film. My opinion. GHOSTBUSTERS (1984) 10/10 , GB II (1989) 5/10 RGB (animated series) 10/10 , GB Imposters (2016) zero! GB AFTERLIFE (2021) 10/10 ✝.
very well done review. nice video. i've been looking forward to this movie for awhile. the concept intrigued me from the beginning, but it certainly doesn't hurt that this is probably the most beautiful lead cast of the year. i'm for sure going to see it, but your review just caps it for me.
i agree and i totally think they should've implemented a harry potter type style, I've been on a recent harry potter kick and the first film is so incredible different than the 8th and i think if marvel took this same route they would've aged a lot better and wouldn't be as hated as they are.
The criticisms are valid because those in charge of media propaganda WANT this to happen. They can't beat the constitution. The only way to suspend the constitution is for something like this to happen so that it can be suspended and action above the law be taken. You don't understand the game that is being played behind the scenes and I dare say anyone who criticizes this and says its merely entertainment is brainwashed as is what the film and other media like it is meant to do on a large scale. You don't understand that there were REAL chinese conscription forces stationed in both canada and mexico as those that helped fund this movie do not believe our military and police forces would "do their job". Same thing with all the conspiracy theories of 911 and J6. These actors promote these false acts of violence in order to get the chains of military action removed. Whats more scary is people believing this is entertainment, when the same if not worse is happening around the globe in places like Haiti, Venezuela, and Ukraine. We will not let them do this here, which is their dream. All hater comments below agree that they are stupid and did not get enough spankings as a child.
I refuse to believe that anyone actually wants this to happen. particularly the people who made this film. I feel like people look to this film to validate they're political stance and those who do that will be disappointed and irritated.
Spot on bro scaling is all wrong. Same problem pacific rim 2 had. We need the feeling of grandeur like when your stood on a mountain or in the grand canyon. These films are supposed to bring the characters to life but they keep getting stuck somewhere between a film and a cartoon.
My personal ranking is a bit different. Similarly, my bottom two are Zone of Interest and Maestro for similar reasons. For eight, I have Barbie. It was fine, it was fun, it was not best picture material. Next, Past Lives was good but I didn't connect with it as much as some other people have. Then I have the Holdovers. Making my top five is Killers of the Flower Moon, it was good but I do think it felt its length a bit. I really liked my top four, starting with Anatomy of a Fall. 3: I adore expresionistic cinema so I loved Poor Things. 2: Easily my favorite script of the year, American Fiction was hilarious and resonated with me more than I expected it to. I feel like it's the basic pick but as much as I loved Poor Things and American Fiction (and I think both of those films speak to me on a more personal level than this) Oppenheimer is my number 1.
When it comes to the Best Animated Feature category, never doubt the Golden Globe and BAFTA combo. If an animated feature wins both Golden Globe and BAFTA, it always wins the Oscar. That’s why The Boy and the Heron won. That’s also why Brave won over Wreck it Ralph. Brave won with only Golden Globe and BAFTA.
The Academy hates animated sequels unless it’s Toy Story. That’s why Spiderverse lost. Hopefully, Beyond the Spiderverse wins whenever that comes out. I hope one day a non- Toy Story sequel wins for once. Keep in mind, How to Train Your Dragon 2 was close to winning Best Animated Feature at the Oscars but lost to Big Hero 6. Big Hero 6 won without winning any precursors.
The ACE Eddie stat was broken with the animated feature category. The Boy and the Heron is the first animated feature to win the Oscar for Best Animated Feature without an ACE Eddie nomination. Also, Across the Spiderverse is only the second winner at ACE Eddie Awards for Best Animated Feature that lost the Oscar. The first being The LEGO Movie which wasn’t even nominated. So, Spiderverse is the first ACE Eddie Winner that was nominated for the Oscar and lost. Even Big Hero 6 was nominated at ACE even if it lost to The LEGO Movie.
overall i thought the ceremony itself was good. it was one of the best in awhile. there were a few surprise wins, which always makes the show better. at least there were no bad choices. nothing that won was a head scratcher. i was hoping to see your reactions to some of the bits like the arnold/danny bit and i'm just ken. what did you think of those? for the most part, this was a good, smooth show. until pacino came on, everything just kind of sailed along. thanks for the video. you always do a great job on your posts.
@@JonathanKWiddup They just wanted to probably award Miyazaki's before he retires completely. Beyond the Spider-Verse is coming eventually and it will win 6 Oscars, maybe 7. It wil have a proper ending unlike ATSV. ITSV won the franchise an Oscar anyway.
