This is an unofficial BTCC fan channel, uploading small clips of action from the 'forgotten era' of 2002-2010. People talk about the excellent current TCN1/NGTC rules and the 1990s Super Touring, but this period in the 00s is what got many people interested in the series. I hope this channel does not get shut down, as I feel the action, drivers and incidents in this period provide excellent context to the series today and helped form what we have currently. In addition, these are just small snippets, for the full season Duke Video sell DVDs (and hopefully soon) digital downloads. I feel these clips help promote the DVDs and the BTCC on a wider scale, which I always recommend viewing the full races live in person or on ITV in the UK. Most of all, have fun!
Heavy blocking deserves some light petting, don’t be slow on the racing line and you won’t need to be removed from the racing line. Then the slow BMW goes and tries to run the next car to pass him off the track entirely on a straight. 😂
Jason Plato - the reason i stopped watching touring cars. If you cant get by fairly without shunting into the car you're overtaking you shouldn't be allowed on track. Im aware that the rules allowed it but that doesn't make it right. How other drivers weren't seriously injured I'll never know.
hard to believe with in 3 years Andy Jordon would be champion in 2013. Shame most of the drivers that were in this are out now, Only Tom Chilton is still in the field from this Gordon would have been the next one if dynamics had not lost the sponsor.
Bump racing is fine as long as your not thumping them then bump and pass should be fine. That was one of the reasons why i stopped watching f1 and watched more v8 supercars and the btcc
If the BTCC actually did tolerate this nonsense, it was only them. It has always been illegal to use the chrome horn in any legitimate road racing sanctioning body, even back then. NASCAR is an entirely different story, but they are obviously not a legitimate organization.
@@Formaldehydex The late 1990s and particularly the 2000 season saw a lot of very heavy contact moves in the BTCC that the officials deemed fine. By the time this happened, contact had become a bit stricter but this was still seen as fine in the BTCC. Other forms of touring car racing didn't tolerate it but, whether right or wrong, the BTCC did. By the standards of the time, this was fine.
@@ciaranreed91 If there is only one sanctioning body that thinks the use of the chrome horn is “fine”, it obviously is not. It sounds like the BTCC, at least back then, was no different than the fake sport, NASCAR.
Andrew went on to win his first btcc race in 2010 Croft race three and he joined his father mike who himself was a racer himself he was 48 when he won his only race at mondello park 2006 and then Jordan took a couple of independent titles and got his hands on his first btcc title
IMO, Tom Boardman is one of the worst BTCC drivers of all time. He won a race by smashing Jason Plato , a BTCC legend, off the track and then slowing down to take 2 more cars out under the safety car. What an idiot!
back then you can get away with this sort of overtaking bump and pass which ruined the racing in my opinion and wasn't fair, now drivers do get penalties which is the right thing .
This move is characteristic of this era. The straight up the back move doesn't happen so much now (2015-7), and if it does, is now penalised post-race.
