My Name is Indra. I am From Bali, Indonesia. I have been Working on Cruise Ship Since 2011. Here i want to share my experiences while working on board Cruise Ship and Visiting beautiful places around the world
I am pleased you had a hike and took wonderful videos. All the climbing will make you hungry hope you found good snacks for your cabin. The crew members all work very hard and should enjoy the natural wonders like you. Best wishes to all your family.
Ex crew member here. Yes it is closest thing to a slavery we have. It's not a slavery in traditional sense but as crew member you don't have basic human rights : 1.Guests are allowed to abuse you, instult you and company will turn a blind eye. They can even grope you and company will do nothing. 2. You don't have day off which is the most basic human right for every working person on this planet. 3. Company does not cover medical insurance and you have to fight them in court. They will pay if you loose a limb but if you injure your back or any other part of your body, company will try not to pay for your medical bills and will fight you in court and after that you will get fired because you cost them money. 4. The company does not provide you with a pension fund. So even if you work 30 years in the company, you will get nothing once you reach retirement age. 5. This is the most important one : *NO UNIONS.* You are not allowed to unionize and this is breaking of basic worker rights for every human being. The company will not allow you to form union and will threaten you and you will get fired instantly. So you tell me if this is not a form of slavery ?
Thing changes buddy over the years .. we can report guest now even company issue do not sail letter/ black list for guest.. crew member have time off weekly( not all company might have). Pension plan after 10 years service. 5. Crew right under MLC rules. Even rest hour for crew now being check weekly crew must have 10 hours rest MINIMUM. Well things changes over the past. Free WA internet plan.
@@INDRAMRD - Yea you can report and company will do absolutley nothing in reality. So worst case scenario the passenger will get slap on the wrist for sexual assault which is a felony. Way to go....justice is served. - Pension plan does not exist for average crew member from 2md and 3rd world countries. If you are crew member that falls under hotel department you are on your own. - The 10 hour is a joke. We both know that no company respect that. On paper it will say you had your 10 hour rest because company forces you to write that. - MLC is not an union and will not protect baisc worker rights. There is no minimum wage for crew member because companies sail under flag of a countries that does not recognize MLC. You say times has changed ? Try to unionize and see what happens to you. We both know what you are writing is classic PR for the comment section and for the company because you are an officer and you want to keep your job. Because you and I both know that if you say any different the company will fire you. Stay safe brother, I wish you calm seas.
I wish you had more time ashore. Maybe next visit you can arrange to stay longer in that beautiful port. I am glad there was still snow on the ground for you to experience. Thanks for the video.
