The rat is fine. It's great that you're having it learn how to hold it's own bottle... that's the least the tick can do... these things can eat and drink double its size so i don't see nothing wrong with you teaching it to hold us bottle during feeding. If it can't or won't hold it then it can just sit there and not eat... dont spoil it... that thing already whines and screeches all day long as is and spoiling it will only make it worse. How annoying.
For the most part this rat always looks clean with a clean diaper... plus it doesnt look malnourished or starved. It's just a crybaby, clingy, whiny little tick.
