22:20 There is one I recall that you can only get if you speak to someone in Chalons and then deal with the camp du champagne where the item's inside a chest. 26:00 What I like about this game is that it's historically based like Age of Empire or Call of Duty, but unlike either one of them you can fight as a character with a melee weapon as your primary means of offense.
I loved the ARPG parts of it, and the fact that you can beat whole armies even in the hardest difficulty. I'm actually very glad that you watched through the whole series even though it was low quality as it is. :D I'm thinking of returning to gameplays, is there anything you are interested in? Because I have like 100 games in my mind what I'd enjoy playing, and I cant really decide.
03:55 I think it's simpler to issue the RTS command for the Dauphin and the Bastard to follow a general you can directly control. 05:40 And the pathfinding's not much cop either. 29:30 I get more concerned about where.
17:58 That's a signal that a squad of enemy soldiers spawned nearby his position and heading his way. It only activates if the general the player's commanding is too far way to pass him anything. 36:24 "Poor old Will. Why does everyone fire at him?"
I'm actually hungarian, but since nobody outside my country speaks my language I constantly use both german and english, and sometimes I speak nonsense. My german is pretty bad tho, I have to relearn basically everything. :D :D
08:00 All signs point to it being a red herring. 27:50 Why didn't you buy more food when you had the chance? 47:54 What's that gabbling sound that keeps occurring when you're not speaking?
Probably because I forgot to buy some back then. I think its the microphone, I always had (still do tbh) cheap headsets, and I think it sometimes does this thing, that is why later I started removing noise from the voiceover.
14:49 There was a drawn out buzzing effect here. Was that a problem on your recording or is it my reception? 33:25 As I see it this is why you have to you more than one general in the later missions. 37:40 It's not a good idea to record a commentary playthrough if you're ill; everything feels like it takes more effort.
I can't hear it, but I think you meant the little constant buzzing of my microphone. I didn't realize back then how annoying that could be. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, you are right, I used to do that a lot, since when I'm ill I have a lot of free time :D
The reason why I never sold anything is because I always played these games (this didn't really change :D) in hoarder mode, and I rarely ever sold stuff. This was especially true here, since I could basically destroy whole armies with a single sword, therefore I didnt really care about items, the only thing that mattered is that Joan always gets the best gear. It's possible that I made some cuts altough back in the day I didn't really watch through the whole vid before rendering, so I'm pretty sure it has tons of bloopers.
@@CountDuncanWizard I was referring to the way you were reorganising Joan's inventory in order to get the redundant weapons into a position where they can be sold without dropping food.
02:28 Not that way! 07:30 Trebuchets are a mixed blessing in this game. The benefit is their very long range, but not only are they completely immobile there seems to be no way to order them to cease. 42:00 You have no troops to keep them occupied and none of the other generals are in attendance to help split their attention.
One thing I still love about these videos is that I constantly changed my voice whenever I was reading what the characters were saying, and I still think that it's so funny. :D :D
12:35 That is a supply wagon you're supposed to intercept on the effective doorstep of Meung, but you need to have somebody riding for it the minute the mission starts. 19:47 More or less; in the latter case you can barely complete the mission without failing that objective. 27:08 The treetops; the way the branches and leaves intertwine are comparable to the canvas used for a tent.
18:30 You mean without RTS? 34:50 Tedious, perhaps? 40:10 I am concerned that you can't complete the objectives in this and the next mission without the other three in attendance at this point.
@@CountDuncanWizard One thing that happens when I aim to finish that objective is that, once the general I'm using has achieved it, I hurry back to Jargeau to resupply. This often has the effect of a group of mooks following all the way, resulting in a sudden fight on the threshold of the gateway.
05:00 You can try, but from what I recall this is the point where RTS mode has to be used at some point in the subsequent missions. 06:14 "I shall say this only once." - Kirsten Cooke 11:22 Ah, in this context you pronounce it the same as 'led' because it's about the metal.
09:25 It's annoying that the command for 'down attack' is the same as the command for 'guard', and also that 'reassign unit' and 'general action' are the same. 19:00 With how many enhancer gems you're getting, I'm surprised you didn't give any of the lesser types to your allied generals.
I think with the enhancer gems I fell into the trap what I always do with RPGs. I focus on the main character, and completely disregard the others, since I rarely control them, but this way I keep forgetting upgrading them with items etc. Ahh, I should restart this channel I loved it so much even though the quality is not the best.
@@CountDuncanWizard I believe I did that initially, but I hardly ever set the others to 'standby' and I kept moving lower grade enhancers over to them.
22:55 "This path" and "this path". We can't see your cursor on these videos. 30:43 I don't like taking command of La Hire except when he's on horseback and I'm only moving him. The sound effects used for his footsteps leaves me with an image of rabbit using cat litter.
Yeah, back in the day I did not realize that cursor disappears at recording. I think I recorded with Fraps back then, and it always hid the cursor. In retrospect the audio quality is so bad, you can hear the noise from the mic. It was a long time ago, but most of the time I only used Joan, because I was sure that she'll be in every mission, no matter the story, and also with La Hire the attacks were very slow, but i don't remember it exactly.
02:52 I don't understand how the morale works in this game. 19:50 So, you don't aim to neutralise the cannons and you don't close the gate as they approach so you can hack them without them hacking you? 30:22 It's shocking how often your generals can get an F even when they did a fair share of the fighting.
Me neither, I think it has to do something with troops leaving you, but I have no idea tbh. Yes, I don't know if I mention it in this video, but this tactic comes from the demo version of the game. In the demo what I played like 100 times when I was like 8, you could only play the first 2 maps and I wanted to maximize my level so I pulled all the units into the gate, and opened the gate so they don't shoot it, instead charging at me and I can collect the juicy exp. Yeah, indeed, altough my generals stay back most of the time, because I always manage to kill them accidentally. :D
06:38 Yeah. You get so many apples during the course of the game but they only give you so many EP, which is rather limiting compared to the need for HP. 18:53 Henry VI? Hardly enlightened, barely a lit taper. 31:41 Good gravy! You could've done it at that point, since his portrait's lit-up to denote he's in range.
06:26 I usually like to group the different food items by row, so as to keep track of available recovery options. 13:55 It was a notable annoyance that the game only autosaved at the very start of a mission.
I actually created these videos 8 years ago, and I just realized that you are watching them and comment. First of all I thank you, second, I'll go and read the other comments. Sorry if my english isn't really understandable, my accent still hasn't improved much, altough I hope my vocabulary has. :D :D
@@CountDuncanWizard I had been trying to determine your nationality from that accent, but while my initial impression was that you're German the way you read the non-voiced dialogue made me consider if you're actually French. From past experience, I'm probably wrong on both counts.
I have no idea what you mean, but you can use Troops Inventory in your inventory screen. You can take their weapons i think, or only if you gave them to hold it.
She was a standard barer in real history which makes a target on the battlefield and also she got shot by a crossbow and still continued after it was dressed when continued rallying the retreating frech who then took the fort, on top of that the English who fought she was at least heavily wounded if not dead feared her and retreated and at the battle field English feared her banner and refused to attack, all this while a teenage girl surrounded by men
cause in that time it was already pretty gore only with dead bodies. in germany the game was only able to be bought by people over 16 years old and still then people were shocked that such a "gore" game is available for teens.
That End sequence is like a happy ending but for Joan it wasnt soo happy. she was burned :( but I like that game I played it a long ago and it get my attention.
Yes, if I remember correctly if you die during this mission you get the ending where Joan was burned. I liked this one too, despite the historical incorrectness :D :D
