Thanks for sharing your efforts! What was the tool you were using to pump the fluid in? I doubt the previous owner of my '99 got it done and I'm almost to 90k. I thought it felt fine, right up until I bought another '99, with 52k on the clock. Still have your NB2?
Akra db killers are infamously hard to take out, if you have energy to post a comment chances are youre not using enough energy ri rip it out! 😂😂 in all seriousness, theyre just ridiculously tight in there
Hard to tell but it looks like the shifter was installed backwards. (180 degrees rotated). While the shifter can be installed two ways, the shifter has an angle and should be angled towards the rear so it really should be installed that way. I believe the dot should face the front. At 11:30 it looks like the dot is facing the rear. Here is a miata.net thread about it: forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=214037
Chris Balch we do the best we can homie. Fortunately I have a garage and all the needed tools and a job that helps me buy them now. Don’t be that guy...
@@avidauto4659 I'm sure you have a wrench or an adjustable wrench some where and you're too stupid or lazy to use the right tools for the job. Channel locks were the wrong tool.
Nice video, did you ever flash the ECU ? I’ve read if you leave the baffle in you could possibly avoid having to. Your thoughts? I’m ordering this exhaust as well! Thanks
I’ve read the same thing! I did leave the baffle in and I did not flash the ECU, road great! If you can afford to have it flashed it would probably be good, but I don’t think it’s a requirement for this exhaust. Thanks watching!
Thanks for the vid! Just installed a new clutch and in that process found that both the shift boots were completely gone. have a kit on order. Your vid is my guide.
Hello fellow star wars fan! It's recommended to change it every 60k miles, I change mine every 45k just because of age and miles, I have 129k miles on the clock now.
TaZer Automotive obd2 plug in "TaZer" Luxe Auto Concepts dark smoke taillight and side marker tint kit. Oem hellcat lower air box with AFE Power intake headlight tube. EBay valve stem caps. That's it!
hey dude, great video! Did you notice a bigger difference in shift performance from doing the trans fluid or the turret fluid? Because I recently did the Motorcraft unicorn butter fluid in my NB2 5 speed and it still shifts like shit. I also think that the "90 ml" estimate must apply to the NA 5 speeds because mine took double that, and still wouldn't fill. But when I topped it off, it did seem to make a noticeable improvement for a couple days… but then back to crap. Never filled it all the way to the lower bushing though, so I'll try that today.
Thanks! So I did the shifter rebuild before the trans fluid, I pretty much had no fluid in there. I didn't measure but it did seem to be more than the 90ml that it supposedly requires. I filled mine up to the top of the shifter bushing. As for performance it definitely cleaned up the sloppiness and excessive movement from before. The fluid probably helped with that. I used 80-90 gear oil (same for the tranny) its been great since! Same with the trans fluid change, helped clean up some of the rough and hard shifting. Not a crazy dramatic difference but very noticeable! When it shifts is it still sticky? or sloppy? Sorry I couldn't of more help! If you make a video I can try to help see what's going on :) It's possible you could have an another issue causing this is symptom.
Avid Auto turns out I had a 6 speed this entire time and didn't know lol. I felt like such an idiot that it took me 3 months to figure that out. The 6 speed is much more notchy and less smooth than the 5 speeds, so that explains why I couldn't get it to shift as smoothly as my other Miatas have in the past. The turret also doesn't hold any fluid with the 6 speeds and relies on splash from the gearbox to lubricate itself. Even though they're much better as holding big power... thats not really my goal with this car and I'll be selling or trading it for a 5 speed soon.
Israeli3030 haha oh dang! no worries friend, shit happens. That makes difference though yep haha. I didn't know they 6 speeds were not quite as smooth though that's interesting.
