It's not an egr. It's the valve for the A.I.R smog pump. Also, the valve that was leaking coolant is your heater control valve. I greatly appreciate the video. I'm about to go out to the garage and do the same thing on my 89 formula firebird.
My 1990 1le-IROC-Z doesn't have "T" tops ,air or power windows or power door locks or a radio. It does have 6.3 mi. total on the O.D. and 5.7 auto though. The corvette breaks are very cool.
Not a bad starting point AT ALL. I just got a 87’ z28 but mines a manual T-top and its one of the red on red ones (fully red interior and exterior) from factory. Best thing going about mine is the interior was kept in the best shape ever for sitting outside for a few years. And the thing runs! But ofc i want EVERYTHING brought up and restored though i want it to feel as modern as possible but that classic cockpit/gauge cluster. Looks like an ancient space ship. And when i fully restore it i want to do a 383 swap ofc😎
That's no IROC. No fog lights or body stripes. Sell that damn thing and get a real one... PS...before you get all mad check your vin number.. then you too will know that's no damn IROC-Z.
One of the first things I did, the person who painted this car painted over many iroc original trim/paint jobs. Also checked my RPO codes to confirm whether or not it was real. As for the fog lights, I have the correct grill/lights in my garage, the owner gave them to me when I purchased the car.
See if you can find a Selfies 16 inch high Rockwells here are the regular Z Camaro wheels 15 inch but the hierarchy with 16s and they were beautiful wheels see if you can find instead of them
The girl in the iRock it’s not the right girl for Irox. Hi rocks, girls came with fold lights in the front. How different type plastic piece around in the fall lights chill down the bottom on your car the plastic that’s not right for the Iraq.
I swear I'm not trying to troll. Your battery terminals aren't stock, but common replacements. The stock setup is side post. I always go bigger on the battery, as the stock size is pretty small. That may have already occurred on yours. That stud on your alternator isn't ground. It's positive. Good luck on your ride. I was fortunate to have a 1987 GTA since HS. Dropping tools into the nose of car, the cradle, and the ground, is par for the course! lol Especially if it's lowered. You need retrieval tools. A magnet for sure, grabber claw, is also very helpful. Even pick up a bendy one when you can.
Looks like a parts car at best. That or just scrap it. It’s not special anymore, whether it’s a real iroc or not. It’s not like iroc’s are rare anyways. It’s full of rust it looks like also. Reality has to set in at some point.🤷🏻♂️ Invest in something with potential that will pay you back with your time and $. This isn’t it.
Congrats on the car. Third generation F-body’s are the easiest car to work on. It needs bracing, subframe and strut tower, and the wonder bar. It really changes the car. Also it’s like laying a good foundation for a house, stiffen the chassis up and even with a stock motor you can have a ton of fun. Watch Tavarish he has a video on a 1LE, from 3 years ago. It is a great car.
Previous owner decided to keep the iroc-original rims and tires that came with this car, the front end louvers were bought from summit to replace the original grille( which I still have in my garage), also the previous owners idea. I plan on repainting and replacing the original grille with some fog lights too!
That connector next to the tail gate lock has been modified, it's not supposed to look like that. The window rubber is held in the rail that's on the pillar, it should hold without any glue (didn't glue them on my 84 and they don't leak at all). Use a flat plastic think and push the little edge under the rail.
Maybe you could Dremel the rust off around the T-tops, etch the metal with Naval jelly, then etch prime it and paint it. From there, just open it up and dry it when it rains to prevent moisture from pooling on the metal.
Awful car! The 80s were the worst! Music? Cheesy! Movies? Cheesy! Cars? Rush jobs! I don’t understand how people in that time period were so inept. Makes me glad I’m a 90s kid!!!!!
I like your car !! I have a 86 IROC Z THAT I PUT A 327 with 400 turbo in it i also have a 90 ITOC Z 5 speed 305 ci i plan on swapping both cars to Ls ‘s hopefully soon
Don’t put anything into that motor just put your money into a LS I managed to buy a 2007 chev Silverado one ton truck with a LQ 4 6.0 liter LS engine for 1200 dollars the truck ran great I pulled the engine and parted out the truck for 1150 dollars then I rebuilt the engine and I bought a 2005 AR 5 5 speed transmission out of a chev Colorado with a Fabbot conversion. I just drove my car for the first time a couple of months ago Check out my 92 if you have time You have a perfect 3 rd gen to start with! Good job man !!
Thanks man, I just plan on getting this engine roadworthy because i have a buyer that will pay more, the less problems it has. Glad u liked it valve cover vid is next!
i have an 86 camaro. was a carb car. converted it to TPI with a procharger. little 305 made 380/420 to the wheels. ripped it out and stuffed a cam LQ9 6.0 in it. best thing i did.
Unfortunately my 86 Z28 with a TPI motor only runs every now and then when it wants to. Most of the time it doesn't run and then magically one day I'll go out there and it'll fire right up I can't figure out what's going on with it
@@sonicsquirreloutdoors5106 you're very welcome and I wish you a lot of luck with your iroc. It's a gorgeous car and it looks like it's in very good condition overall
no fog lights, not iroc wheels, the paint is blue under the headlights supposed to be black, iroc decals in wrong place for an 88 but still a beautiful car, good luck and have fun restoring it
@@bassplayermarty6032 checked the vin and the rpo codes, it’s definitely an iroc z camaro but with an incorrect paint job, decals and probably junkyard wheels but I plan to fix all that.
@@sonicsquirreloutdoors5106 but the front nose is incorrect… That is not an iRock front facia… Is it a TPI motor ? and what about the steering wheel and the seat covers and of course the rims…? Which you did mention.
