Just ordered a 2 track for the rear and a waypoint for the front of my 2017 Africa Twin. I have been running Shinko 705’s front and rear, which are great on road, but not as great off pavement. I have converted my rear to tubeless (3M tape method) but run a tube up front. I live in Vermont where there are more unpaved roads than paved, so having a better offroad tire will be welcome.
Good advice on trying different things w/ set-up w/ new tires. I purchased some Dunlop Trailmax mission tires - thought they were complete garbage! Speed wobbles any time I went over 90, didn't handle well on or off road. Eventually realized most of the problems were due to not having suspension set up correctly, running too high tire pressure. The Missions still aren't my favorite tire, but I can see where they would have their place on a long trip (home to Arctic circle and back) etc. Side benefit, I learned how to properly adjust my suspension!
Good to hear, it's a hidden "feature" many don't bother trying to fix, or don't know suspension isn't just how comfortable on your backside is over bumps 😆
Good deal. I have a fresh set of 2 Track on my T7 and I am also headed to Utah on the 18th. We only got to Green River on the BDR last year but i was on my 1290SA-R. This year I will be solo on the T7. I sure hope these tires will be up to the task, I’m sure they will though. I did a test ride in the Texas hill country and they worked great. Unable to test the sand capability though.
Fairly similar, one may do a touch better/worse in certain conditions but not enough to matter. If one was to ride technical offroad, Motoz may offer more, but realistically who buys a big bike to ride hard single track type stuff alot Some claim big miles from Motoz, I never got over 5-6k, except GPS where I got around 8k from a rear
Appreciate you man ! 👍 I bought these tires because of your reviews . Still have to mount them on my TA but I'm expecting similar performance and mileage
I must not have luck with these, I bought a set back when they were pretty new to the market(yellow ones) and broke them the same way, just some stupid slow layover..
I made a rule for myself, if it's taken apart or I hear " I seen it online" I won't mess with it..almost always more trouble then it's worth. I've seen some just stupid things people tried to fix.
I probably won't be using it, I'm so used to how I travel and pack, it feels weird /in the way...once the testing video is out(few weeks) I'll probably donate it to a friend.
I enjoy the laid back feeling of back roads and you see so much interesting stuff. I am never traveling just to get somewhere; I want to enjoy the journey.
It was rough...that trip was from LA to Williams AZ (435mi) to Shamrock TX(732mi) And Home (560 mi)..if I recall, I didn't sit right for a few days 😂...great trip though, I may talk about it soon.
@dimsyadventures Well, I came along your channel on my search for info in the two track tires (which i ended up buying). Decided to stay for entertainment. Keep doing you, and enjoy the ride!
Thanks for the information. You did a great job of bringing up import differences to consider when deciding/creating a route. Appreciate you insight on the subject and thanks for making the video.
So stoked for the future videos of you going west! I have these tires on my Norden and when it comes to sand I say these tires are absolutely superb. I handle the Florida Sugar Sand phenomenally with these tires.
I heard of these guys awhile ago, then they came up in my RU-vid feed. That's a very nice comparison. I'm interested in how their products hold up to your use.
trying to talk myself into ordering a set but i am picky about front tire feel also and since the TKC80 fronts went away i havent really found "the one" but al i think liking the Motoz Dual Venture thus far ..... whats your favorite front ?? my old fav combo was TKC80 front and Mitas E07 rear
The Motoz Dual Venture Is My To Fave 21 Front For Mostly Offroad, I've ran so many knobs through the years I don't pay much attention to feel unless grip is terrible, they wander make noise, wiggle, etc..big blocks are different however, also a fan of Motoz GPS fronts, for the long distance tire. I always say buy and try...tires aren't a lot of money, wear them out and try the next set, don't base anything on tires until 500-1000 miles...things can change in those times
Nice work! I have had different results riding in freezing temps with rain and later snow. Above 50 degrees on wet pavement they handled good. Below 50 the rear end would slide out if I got into the throttle hard. In the cold enough to snow temps (thermometer said 34) the front slid out twice, but regained traction before total loss of control. I dialed back the aggressiveness and continued to ride safely without crashing. I'd say they are as good if not better than most tires with this aggressive of tread pattern. Off road they are fantastic!
Not really sure, maybe different road surface in my area, I had issues in my latest update video of some rear traction, the trail max mission did the same.
Unfortunately the cold is over this year, check out my latest "Missouri Trail" video, I did some wet rock/mud, the tires had around 2500 ish miles at that video.
