That’s like 2.5 years ago… but IIRC I was lightly (and incorrectly) on the brakes a bit through the turn in because I felt uncomfortable with how fast I was going. In hindsight I could’ve just opened the wheel and gone straight off.
Full day open track, no sessions! But if I run out of tires or brake pads I’ll go check it out. I’ll also be at the 3 day member event in July…maybe check it out then!
Congrats on the coupe! Yeah I am running stock calipers and rotors. PFC 08 pads in that video, I’m swapping to DTC 70s now. Bimmerworld SS lines. The stock system is very effective just with pads and lines
In this video it had a strong tendency towards understeer, but after switching ti a square wheel setup the car turns in and rotates under braking a lot better
Like our country lanes here in the UK that road would be a lot easier to drive at night when you can see the lights of approaching vehicles. Nice video/Mini Nathan.
I can heel-toe… you should probably learn to read video descriptions. the second gear synchros on this car were damaged by a previous renter. Doesn’t matter if you match the revs perfectly since it had broken synchros. Find attached a link to another video on the race track with a pedal camera, where you can see perfect heel-toe downshifts ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k_xHTqm4jQE.html
Almost… almost….😂. Thanks for posting! I like watching spins as long as there’s no damage of course and I also post ones I have witnessed or participated in. Keep safe out there!
Great fun. I am the Exige driver. Your lines are very smooth and I am only able to stay ahead due to the acceleration of the Exige (which flatters any driver!). I guess that was us who were scolded for passing at 3-4! Thanks for the dual.
The clutch was all the way down during downshifts... if you look at the description, I mentioned the car had bad 2nd gear synchros, that’s the cause of the noise
South bend is definitely a tricky turn to get right. For me, I like to get my braking done early after cresting out of turn 9 and getting back to the right side of the track, then am gently back to throttle to transfer weight to the back tires as I turn in for turn 10. Open the wheel to track out and accelerate downhill. The important part is to get the braking done, and then back to some throttle to settle the back end. If you are off throttle or trail braking there, the back end will be light and more apt to oversteer.
I find the faster I go, the more likely I stay off throttle or get on the brakes longer. I think it is a matter of commitment for me at this point. I am surprised I didn't find myself in your video lol... spins had a way of finding you this event
@@Nathan-gr9nq No worries, that was a perfect point by, I had plenty of time and space. I still didn’t reel in the 2022 M3 tho…lol. He’s on RU-vid too, has some good clips posted!
@@Nathan-gr9nq Yeah, great guy, he’s got some crazy motorcycle videos, the speeds they hit on 2 wheels is insane. I have a couple clips posted running with him…good fun! I believe he was signing up for the VIR Club so hopefully get to run with him again this year…
😂 good one because it ended safe and no damage. I like watching spins and oops when no damage of course. I also post up ones that I have witnessed or participated in - I think they can be educational and entertaining. Thx for posting keep safe out there!
As soon as I saw you have a Lotus I figured you'd have a lot of good lift off oversteer clips! And there was damage, just to my confidence for another session, then I was back to normal. Thanks for sharing as well, I always like analyzing to figure out what caused a spin and how it could've been prevented.
You're a much better driver than they are. They are living for the straights like some of the muscle car folks and missing the point of the rest of the track. At least they played good music for you.
Thanks! The music was very good indeed. His pace probably had something to do with the horrific tires. He told me they were 15 track days old... I personally couldn’t believe they passed tech 😂. That morning he was sliding quite a bit
I felt like I saved it at first... but then I overcorrected. I’m lucky I shaved off as much speed as I did before I went into the grass. Not much you can do to slow down then
@@Nathan-gr9nq When you are countering that fast it is hard to know when you've sorted the car out. And that's a good point... If you hadn't shaved that speed before you went off on that side it could have been worse.
