Thanks for the review. Been a Santana fan since the eighties. I have a soft spot for those eighties albums like Beyond Appearances and Freedom even though I’ve read a number of reviews that put then lowdown the order in his back catalogue. I still like them as they remind me of my teenage years.
Thanks for this ranking rundown. Islands - can almost smell the patchouli coming off it. Nice to see you rate it so up there. I grew up with them in the 70's, my cut-off point - post Red onwards. 80's stuff, ah, no - particularly Belew's Byrne sing-a-likey stylings. (To these ears mechanistic, academic, brittle was the impression those left. Lost their gift of creating an atmosphere. ) Maybe that's where Math rock was invented. (?) But loved '71-'74 period - convincingly gentle & poetic one minute, in a heel-turn downright menacing. 'The Court' & 'Poseidon' I think I over-played as a teenager, but 'Lizard' to 'Red'.. were they ever a weirdy-arty morphing beast!
Thanks for watching. There is a ton to unpack on their albums. Listening experience can depend on the mood you are in with some of the 70’s stuff. Peace
Any time sturgill puts one out its album of the year for me. This time around I think I need to give it to great American bar scene but this is definitely my favorite Simpson album yet
Great review, One for the road is for sure worth the price . I am really looking forward to the live version of this , the strings are so big and center(on the edge of too much ) in the album cut I suspect they will have alot of fun jamming this on the road.
well said, Let The Music Do The Talking, as Joe Perry has also said in the past. I love Deep Purple and will be buying this on CD shortly. The chief complaint I've had with Aerosmith over their last couple of decades is Steve Tyler sings over the top of EVERYTHING. (I'm sure I'm exaggerating, but that's how I imagine it). I like these classic hard rock metal bands to let the music do the talking, then sprinkle the lyrics on like a dash of parsley here, a shake of pepper there . . . I'm enjoying this review, I've only heard the singles thus far released and they sound great, but as you've said, they are standard lyrics dominated tunes as you'd except for a single, nothing like Manstrel Root, Child In Time, or Lazy, or rather a great tune with 50-50 music, and some lyrics. Listen to Aerosmith ROCKS, its full of that format, and not a single instrumental. I'd love some great music from Deep Purple, and most other bands, with a few lyrics hear and there, really get to hear the band play, and occasional lyrics. Also, one additional album criticism based on the collectable media (CD) . . looks like a copy of "Now What?" artwork, which is literally NOTHING . . . why can't a band come up something for cover art ? ?
100%. Terrible artwork. Thanks for your remarks. Great points. Spot on about Aerosmith as well. Hurts me to be critical of a legend like Ian Gillian but he over cooks the stew a bit. Overall solid album. I appreciate your support. Thanks again for watching.
I think you are right. Needs to take care of himself. Hopefully he doesn’t need the money too much and can stay home comfortably. Thanks for tuning in and supporting my channel
I hear you. I never got a chance to see them. Always just missed them. Hope he continues to record and stays as healthy as possible Thanks for watching Tom I do shows every day that you may like so hot like and subscribe if you want. Peace
I would have love to hear the album 5150 with a similar production to the album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge! I would say 5150 is my favorite album but I find that all Hagar-era albums are uneven. Really like perhaps 60 % of the albums. The rest is so-so. Would love to see a tour of this coming to Europe!
Such terrible news. I saw them many times. The Zombies are one of my favorite bands with Rod's songwriting and incredible skills on the organ as well as Colin's breathy vocals. They still sounded wonderful just two years ago when I saw them. The Zombies added a jazzy quality to the British Invasion sound and "Odyssey And Oracle" is one of the greatest psychedelic albums of all time. Rod is/was so underrated. I always felt that he was one of the best rock keyboardists in history, almost as good as Brian Auger.
Wow!....not much more a person could say then that "Never had such a good time...in my life before"🎉 I was not previ too the note to the band...I love that stuff!!!...makes you feel good dont it!🎉thanx 4 ur appreciation...well done🎉
Sammy knows why Alex won't speak to or play with him. It's because Sammy was WAY over the top in his bad rapping of Alex and Ed in his book. A lifetime bridge burner for sure. Yes, it's because of the book. AND, he's retired from music anyway. But again, he won't respond to Sammy because of what he said in the book. This host did a great job in his analysis. I have inside info and he nailed it.
Unfortunately, we are going to have to get used to less really good shows as even the younger rock bands are aging and touring less and older bands are retiring from the road. It seems that the industry doesn't sign and promote new rock bands much anymore.
Nice! Was hoping you would do this list, nice call on 4th of July. Whoa there partner….Springsteen not in top ten, brah me-thinks time for a recount. Dylan sings about the main character in his songs, Bruce is the main character in his. 1. Dylan 2. Springsteen 3. Paul Simon
Neil Young is a God. You folks can spin shit all you want, but it does not matter. Nothing you say matters to anyone but you. You should not even be able to say his name. You fools are doing the very thing your whining about. It's hilarious. Open up your tired eyes..
