I have fond memories of the rockapes , was in the ATC circa 1979 one of our annual camps we were stationed at RAF North Luffenham.

My dad was a rockape and proud of it

Oh Caoch o Leary has brought a tear to my eye, as I haven't heard it in so many years my father god rest him used to recite this poem .And I only came across it by accident , My dad left school when he was just 12 due to sickness and did not have any further education, but he loved to read and he must have learnt this off by heart as oh so many times I remember him reciting so many lines of this poem. love this poem and I shall now pass it on to my own children.

My Dad would of loved this. He was Christy Dunne from Ballinagh. Brought a tears to my listening. My Dads good friend passed away on the 22nd of January. His name was Gerry Nulty. My Auntie Tina Kenny put this on Facebook. So glad to hear & see it.

RAF Bridgnorth is now a country park. There are few signs of the RAF base there, but the old married quarters are still there. My dad was RAF Regiment - around 1955 - 1972., Sgt P J Lopeman. He went to Bridgnorth, Catterick, Cosford, Singapore Akrotiri Leeming Laarbruch and I think a couple more. He was LAA and small arms instructor. Maybe you knew him?

Thank you so much I really enjoyed it. Lots of memories to share I liked the ice cream in Katy Bannios's she was a funny old duck. Would you think of doing a talk on the old characters that roamed the town. The music is also haunting. Hope to share it around and keep as part of my childhood.
