I've been a nanny for about 20 years and what is shocking me the last 5 years is the permissive parenting and the children who are five six years old having meltdowns like one and two year olds. The parents getting very upset if the nanny does not accommodate that. I'm seeing consistently time and time and time again a very apparent lack of boundary setting from the parents. They are accommodating feeding nurturing and therefore encouraging their children to be.. well I hate to say it but I think I have enough experience to be blunt at this point spoiled little brats that no one likes to be around. Could you kindly do a video on firm consistent boundaries and the importance of consistency and follow through. The importance of healthy boundaries, along with consistency, and follow through is enough to help these children get on the right path. Their efforts and successes in manipulating their parents and their teachers and their nannies and so on and so on is heartbreaking disturbing and exceedingly stressful to be around. Yes I'm very aware of all the techniques that are recommended in using active listening skills which I believe is so critical gentle tone etc etc etc but I am seeing a pervasive toxic pattern of behavior that is accompanying these children and they are often highly indulged highly gratified and highly rewarded for anything and everything. I even had two lawyers in a very high-end area who told me to stop playing board games with their 5-year-old fraternal twins because if one twin one the game and the other one did not... The other one as I witnessed myself would have severe meltdowns and therefore this would encourage them to not want to play and would contribute to their very low self-esteem. I can't believe the things that I'm hearing coming out of the mouths of these parents... I can't believe what I'm seeing... How in the world are we ever ever going to set these children up to face the world? I like to hug children. I like to encourage them I like to say you still played a great game and there's lots more games we can play too don't give up and I like to teach them how to congratulate the winner so that when they win too they are congratulated in the very same manner. encouraging loving supporting no matter who wins and loses is critical... But these parents and many parents just like them don't want any part in that.. they want to make sure that their children never ever ever feel disappointment, sadness, anger, defeat, they are afraid of their children they are walking on eggshells..... you can tell by the way they talk to them and deal with them. They are apologetic toward their children and their tone of voice their mannerisms their lack of discipline their lack of boundaries... Especially their lack of boundaries with consistency and follow-through. If I've seen it for one family I've seen it for a couple of dozen. It's so sad and it's making it harder and harder to get a quality Natty job where I'm really enjoying the children and vice versa. Yes I have skills... Yes I use them... But this is getting way Beyond ridiculous. I love your videos. They're pregnant and they're lovely and they're helpful. Keep making them. We need them ❗

My baby is 9 months and gets upset when he doesn’t want to be in car seat or wants me to help him walk or be picked up all the time. My parents say I am spoiling him by doing what he wants. Is it unusual for babies to throw tantrums this early and if so should I apply these same tools. He’s so little he really doesn’t understand.

@@alexastrange8119 I’m so sorry you’re struggling right now, sounds really hard. Usually tantrums start around 12 months old but I would absolutely use the same tools for any age. Get your baby used to certain phrases and with consistency, he’ll learn. Hang in there!

I'm just a babysitter and nanny, not a parent yet, but I think many kids get bored while trying to sleep. That's why my plan is two fold: make sure they are properly worn out by bedtime, if I can manage it, and teach them things to occupy their mind while waiting to sleep. One kid kept getting up, so I told him to hold his teddy above his chest and count backwards from 10 as slowly as he could, and then drop the teddy. It got him to sleep that night. Is it silly? Yes. But it worked.

No you need to keep the things in your house the way you want them and teach the kid what they can and can not touch its Called keeping on eye on your child and not just let them run wild why your not paying attention to them

Yes, because waiting to teach boundaries after the child has had free reign and never been told no isn't going to confuse them and create strife.

Hi. My son stoped napping when he was two, he is now almost three years old. He used to nap 2 hours. When he stopped, at the beginning, that was so difficult for me...each day was really long. After a while I could see a advantage: I got really long evenings because, without napping, he needed more sleep during the night so he was sleeping from 7 p.m. till 8 a.m. It is still like this untill today. So I am enjoing my long productive evenings. Dear Cassie, quiet time is a GREAT IDEA, tomorrow I'll start with this. Thank you sooo much❤your videos are a big help for me! A big hello from Europe.

I gave my son choices and boundaries since he was one. Diaper changes, clothes to wear, food to eat and etc. Now he is learning boundaries and he hates it when I point out that everyone is watching him cry and make a scene in public. He hates feeling embarrassed. It works for me. I have less tantrums outside the house than in the house. His last tantrum was about the bus ride. We missed the bus he wanted to get on because we were late. I explained that because he didn't get his clothes and shoes on in time, we missed the bus so we had to catch another bus that meets up with it. It took him 5 mins to make the choice of taking the other bus or going home. We took the other bus and met the one we missed. He understands that if he doesn't go to bed at a decent time, it will be too late to take the bus to the depot. Choices make all the differences. He is a critical thinker now.
