Nice enough documentary, but sadly they only focus on Kodavas and not Kodagu. False attachment, false pride, superiority complex and the whole concept of being unique and exclusive is becoming a dominant theme in most narratives. We should end this attitude and become more inclusive of the other communities in Coorg. People's love for nostalgia and past glory is also very noticeable. We have to change with the times and realise people are always migrating in search of greener pastures. Kodavas will continue to leave Kodagu while outsiders will keep coming. You cant stop it. Learn to be detached.

Kodava a language and culture which is still reflecting clearly how dravidans lived all around dravida naadu.we dravidans should preserve this culture and language at any cost.
This is nice capture of the traditional aspects and contributions, but to describe the people along specific racial lines and looks is a little unbecoming. I hope you can adjust the narrative to be more inclusive instead of separatist or superior so people can admire your culture instead of rolling their eyes at yet another one of those…
The women dressing style is (was) common across malendu or hilly regions of Karnataka. You can still see that in some tribes in Karwar district and also in other communities of Malenadu
குடகு மலை காற்றில் வரும் பாட்டு கேக்குதா என் பைங்கிளி it's a tamil song praising the kodagu forest bcoz kodagu language is a pure blend of tamil, kannada, malayalam&tulu its very similar to baduga language even i also belong to the oldest tribal community of the human race ayar Hill tribe till nw our settlements r near to forest similar like kodavas வாழ்க எம் குடகு இன மக்கள் ❤️❤️❤️❤️
The horrible land slides and torrential rains had caused massive damage to Coorg a couple years ago. This phenomenon stands in stark irony against what Retd. Lecturer said 5 years ago. Mrs Kaveri Ponnappa seems to be more comfortable and happy not to be in the fold of Hindu identity. This shows certain reticence on their connection with Hinduism. Lt.Gen Nannayya should have spoken in Kodava language and held the tradition aloft as he expects it from others. Kodava achievements are great and unique. Let this race live on and enrich the culture of this country in their own way.
20:51 HE SAID" KALOGU TAKKA KOLA" is made me very happy....BECAUSE I AM TULUVA.... UDU TULUTU GALASUNA GAADE PATERA....VERY NICE DOCCUMENTRY....JAI KAVERAMME ....JAI IGGUTAPPA....
When they speak, sound a lot like malayalam dialect of kannur. We even celebrate 'puthari' in kannur. Also give respect to ancestors in theyyam festival, dowry is not a common practice.
It is heartening to know that the Kodava population is getting decreased at a faster rate. Kodava is a tribe of sacrifice. The traditions are highly appreciablare The documentaryThe language seems to be a mix of mainly Kannada and Tamil Their contribution to Indian defence is highly memorable. I strongly feel bad about the decreasing population of Kodavas The documentary is really an eye opener thank you
North malabari cast thiyya (some also calld as koduva thiyya) Has some similarity with this people thiyyas also considered as warriors cast kalari payat one of the oldest martial art in d world belongs to this cast ,their dance form is calld as poorakkali is way similar than the men's dance shown in this video ,womans dance looks like 'thiruvaathira ' .
Kodava people should demand a separate state or 5th or 6th schedule Autonomous Councils which govern Hilly regions of Assam and BTR in lower Assam. So that kadavas can preserve their culture, language and community. Don't let much outsiders to settle permanently in Coorg. Micro ethnic community required some kind of safeguard.
Kodava people are like Dimasa people of Assam, exotic people. Who follow clan system and wedding between the same clan isn't allowed. We have no dowry culture too. We have fixed 42 Male clans and 40 female clans. Wedding between the common clans isn't allowed culturally. Kodava people are facing the same problem as us. Kodagu deserve semi autonomous status within Karnataka.
I have registered the 1000th like. Beautiful video. It's an amazing cultural harmony of Karnataka, Malayalam and Tamil. People, please stop the stupid casteism and save this beautiful Culture. It's Priceless..
Very interesting and informative video.loved knowing about Kodavas. The unique culture should be preserved no matter what.we only realize how invaluable it is when we lose it. rootlessness is the biggest tragedy of humans today.
Good work by nishitha.god bless u But our girls r not interested to marry boys staying in kodagu.reality.many kodavas sold thier property and settled in bangalore.excuse me if it hurts anybody.many kodavas never visit kodagu. Muckkatira achayya,
