Urban Ventures is committed to working with children, youth and adults in our community to break the cycle of generational poverty. Generational Poverty is defined as "having been in poverty for at least two generations".
It is important to understand the difference between Generational Poverty and Situational Poverty. A person/family can experience Situational Poverty when their income and support is decreased due to a specific change -- job loss, divorce, death, etc. While there can be a domino effect caused by this one significant change, families experiencing Situational Poverty tend to remain hopeful, knowing that this is a temporary setback.
Urban Ventures has different programs to address the underlying causes of generational poverty such as; parental absence and lack of positive role models, poor academic performance, and unemployment. Our programs are designed to teach our participants the skills they need to overcome these issues and give them hope for a better future.
Welcome back! So glad that you have posted the videos made for the 30 year anniversary! How exciting it was to attend the celebration last week. As a founding board member I support the efforts to spread the word on social media. Our neighborhood is well supported through the programming at Urban Ventures.
Dear Amy you are angelic I like Vince a great guy im so happy to have your music in my life Im passing through the worst stage of my life lost my wife last year in her sleep Blest with an angel granddaughter she will be 2 in October 8th.she is Zaha who lost her mum to cancer this year Feb But me her granddad is by her side
I went to see her concert last night. There was something missing. I felt the show very robotic. She said a few words between the songs but still very superficial. I felt she was just doing business with no joy.
I really hate this type of dysfunctional God that Amy needs, where he only functions as the love that she needs oh to have, instead of having the God that is. God is wrath, healing, grace, mercy, judgment, and does that all in there what a multifaceted way of healing, and it is all at his will pretention not our own. Everything Amy believes is that of feeling of prepondering and what making herself God basically. No sin, basically. No repenting and no redemption. No salvation. No saving. No rules of his to follow; except the ones that people make up for themselves there and everyone gets to come to God in anyhow or way that they want, no rules for engagement and no rules for his kingdom. Which is totally bogus of Amy. She deserves to be in hell. You can tell that she doesn't read her Bible at all also. She has no real life in her.
I think Amy has "love" down well. Now, she needs to see how God joins it with "His righteousness". I struggled with this when I was young in Christ. When I first read the words "love IN TRUTH.". 2 John and 3 John and Paul said this is how he will love. Sometimes "truth" can sound like "self-righteousness" but it is not. We stand with Christ and FOR others when we love them in truth. Jesus said, "If you continue in My words, you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." But, if we leave the truth out, then we leave people (and ourselves) in bondage to lies that the devil sows. Love is not complete until truth enters into it. God wants us to be like firemen. They go into the fire to rescue people out;; not to merely sympathize with them and then walk away, letting them burn. Truth sets us free, not love. So we are to speak the truth without judgment in our hearts. Remember, sometimes tensions rise when we see a person about to go over a cliff. We yell because we are trying to save them, not because we are judging them. We want to warn them they are getting too close to disaster. A whisper is sometimes not alarming enough to cause someone to stop in their tracks; nor is it enough sometimes when people turn God off and tune into the voice of the stranger (John 10). So, know your intentions, but do not hold back God's truth.
She’s so authentic and real. I’ve been a fan for decades - even when the Christian radio industry made her persona non grata after her divorce. She was on the brutal receiving end of a lot of “Christian” judgment. God has used this woman in some truly awesome ways.
Privilege remember your songs... I am happy here, beautifull worship for Jesus, very ppacein your presence God bless you. all Kiss in your heart Thank's
Absolutely. I just thought I'd check in and see how she's doing after 3 decades since last I listened to her stuff which i grew up with. This performance just blew me away. That light inside her is just burning all the brighter.
The best kind of interview is the TRUTH. Amy Grant is an Adulteress who defies God with her "I don't care what God says, supporting homosexuals makes me more popular" rhetoric.
