Running into the knight commander as my mage character, nowadays, reminds me of the mage character who you can meet in the bar at Skyhold in DA3 who insists that her very-obvious mage staff is a “bow.” 😆
It's not just Andrew Tate though. I can't say for sure what Amadi's views are, but is there a reason someone would subscribe to multiple misogynist and anti-LGBTQ accounts unless they enjoyed the content? Also, I wouldn't say it's "condemning" him to not romance his character. lol.
July dev Discord Q&A audio, one of the devs accidentally mentioned Harding thinking of Varric in past tense. Then another dev tried to pass it off like if they were talking about another character dying but it was too late, fans in the call realized lol. LMFAO mary kirby comment on her DA son Lucanis 7:48 😂😂😂 i planned to romance him, but makes me wanna do so even more now 👏👏👏 LOVE your inquisitor handcannons 😮 Also Thom's hair tied up looks so much better, makes him even hotter 😍
6:09 Except Ellis took a character he didn't own and used him to forward Ellis' own wackadoodle agenda. Just because Imadi follows X accounts that the American Left hates, doesn't mean he is unhinged. Respectfully, who cares? Judging a character in a not-yet-released game based on who his VA follows is nitpicking. (I also say this as one who adores grey wardens and warriors in general, and whose PCs romance all the warriors in this series.)
To me, the fact that the character is proprietary was the least concerning part of what Ellis did: it's the dangerous beliefs that fueled his agenda that were scary. Which is why I do care about whom Amadi follows since it's a reflection of his values. I agree with you that the situations are different since Amadi has not actively made misogynist or transphobic statements like Ellis did, but he's passively making them by supporting accounts that do. So I don't think I'm judging the character - I still think Davrin looks beautiful, is most likely written very well, plus all that Warden love you and I share - but more just trying to display my own values (which yes, are generally leftist) by not supporting the VA through romancing the character that he voices and posting that playthrough on my channel. Which, like I said, is no hardship since I have since been completely won over by Lucanis' character anyways. Hopefully his VA is talented and cool!
I have to disagree with you on that. I can grant some respect toward someone who has a differing opinion from my own if they are able to have a peaceful discourse about it, but I can never respect them for an opinion that is actively dangerous toward women, queer, trans, or any marginalized folks. I agree that diversity of thought is important, but there is a limit to that for me, and while I'm sure some might call me closed-minded for that, I think there's a difference between being open-minded versus promoting values that attack me and my community.
I understand if you want to do you, but I will not be spending any time with a charictor that is voiced by a person like that. I do not want that poison in my ear.
Bioware and google manipulate the up and down votes on videos. For instance, on the previous trailer, they threw away 50K down votes, which has been documented in the comments. I also think their videos artificially begin at 30K up votes, but I haven't yet been able to document proof on that.
Finally! Someone notes how beautiful Solas’ eyebrows look. I thought I was alone. His cheek bones look great too. And his shiny head. I’m so looking forward to a bunch of Solas in this game. The rest of the game looks good too. I’m not the biggest fan of some of the monster designs but I’ve had problems with some of the monster designs in every single game so that means nothing. I feel confident that the story will be good. Weekes has written some of the best characters in any BioWare franchise so I’m looking forward to seeing what a story with him in the lead position looks like. Plus Mary Kirby (who should not have been let go) has given us a couple of characters that are probably going to be great. There are a bunch of reasons to be optimistic about the characters and the story.
You are definitely not alone! He looks better than ever. 😍 And I agree about the writing! A good character-driven story (and with that, romance) is always more important to me than how a game looks or combat anyways, though of course I care about those things too; character dynamics and relationships are just my favorite part of the RP experience. So I'm also encouraged by what we've seen so far. Companions Week is going to be a doozy!
@@YoungMrBlue So true! I once used a mod that got rid of the ability’s cooldown, and it was absolutely ridiculous. My character was basically never corporeal. lol.
Maybe I am naive but I took the whole "Flemeth takes her daughters bodies for themselves" as an unforunate misunderstanding of what was actually more like a spirit being passed down through generations. IE; its less Morrigan is no longer there and more that it is Morrigan but also with the ancient knowledge of mythal and all those who came before her. To be fair though I havent paid much attention to Dragon Age lore since I was a teenager.
Maybe! During the same conversation I showed here from Origins, Morrigan also says, "If the... host... is already powerful and trained in magic, it takes far less time for Flemeth to... settle in," and then "I will not sit about like an empty sack waiting to be filled" before telling HoF that they need to kill Flemeth, so that always seemed like straight up possession to me. But to support your theory, Flemeth tells Morrigan at the end of Inquisition that she can't possess an unwilling host, and when Solas absorbs Flemeth's power, he isn't "possessed" by her, so you could definitely be right that it's more of a power transference/inheritance thing. I'm also sure I've forgotten half of the lore I've learned at this point, so I could be missing something too.
Who are you to know what the views of the majority of Dragon Age fans are? Seriously? I guess you are one of those people who have no tolerance for anyone having different opinions than yours. And you obviously have no understanding of those differing views or the people that have them. This is an asinine comment on your part.
Whoa. You okay, dude? This is a pretty aggressive reaction to... I'm actually not even sure. Do you mean when I asked, "Do most people like this one?" I'm guessing you didn't watch or listen past this point because I stated that I'm *happy* it seems like a lot of people enjoyed this trailer because I've liked them all. I also literally said, "I really can't speak for anyone else I guess, but I'll just mark this down as a win." Or do you just hate joy and positivity? You must have a lot of hate in your heart, and that makes me really sad for you.
I feel the same way about Davrin (and Cullen). I'm sure he'll be a good character and was initially really excited to see his story, but it may just feel a little weird to romance someone whose voice evokes thoughts of Andrew Tate. Personally I'm now intrigued by Emmrich, it's cool to see an older romanceable character as an option.
I appreciate the solidarity on that! It's hard to know where to draw the line when there are so many people with different values involved in a project, but misogyny and LGBTQ+-phobia are deal-breakers for me for sure. My best friend/person who is way more tapped into the DA discourse than me is really into Emmrich, and I know that this is so weird, but when he gravitates towards a romance, I typically stay away from it, at least for a first playthrough (it's why I haven't romanced Gale yet in BG3). It's like a weird kind of monogamy, I guess? lol. But Emmrich does look interesting!
@@PosiCobra Regarding the Cullen/Davrin situation, I think I have a perspective that may help. I know you said you have difficultu separating art from artist, but if you allow whatever toxic influence the artist has to infect and ruin your experience of some art they were only a part of, then they've won. They've given you the brain worm. Instead, I believe the best revenge is to say 'hey, you know this art you made? I no longer associate it with you.' Take the character away from them. Make them a separate entity truly in your mind. That way, you never have to think about the actor again.
@@6thhistory I had never thought about that, so thank you for the alternative perspective. I do think that would be pretty difficult for me personally though. When I know who voices a character, I naturally see that person in my mind whenever I see/hear that character. Also, because I post my playthroughs for other people to watch, I'm promoting a set of values through the characters I represent (those I create and those in game), so like I said, I think representation is important, meaning I want to make sure what I show others represents my values as well.
@@PosiCobra It's possible a Titan may have woken up thanks to Solas's ritual though w elikel ywon' tknow until th egame comes out and w esee the story play out .We do know the Descent DLC events were caused by what was goin gon in the main game with the breach and rifts that were forming

Yeah, if Lucanis hadn't taken over my world, I might be right there with you. lol. Good point! I'm not sure how detailed the new tarot system is going to be to rebuild our prior game history, but I'm assuming drinking from the Well will be one of the choices we can carry over for our Inquisitor. It will definitely further complicate the dynamics between them/Mythal/Morrigan/Solas. Is your Inky also a Lavellan?
@@PosiCobra (I'm actually not going for Davrin first- Lucanis and Harding have my first playthroughs lol) She's a Solavellan- meaning she's trying to get her divine boyfriend back XD. *'Complicate it'* is an understatement, Mythal and Solas are going to stand against the last of the gods to exact her vengeance- if Inky is her champion, she would have no choice but to stand with her. Not that I mind, I'd rather be morrigan's servant than Solas's. (Because being your lover's servant has some weird consent issues I don't want to deal with.)

And you're totally right about the problematic control/consent issue; even if Lavellan does want to redeem Solas, she won't be his servant. At least mine wouldn't be cool with that.

@@anna-friedavandyk Oh my gosh, she's a Templar?! That is insane. That must have been a really interesting playthrough. 😂 And of course I'm willing! I love talking about my characters; that's the main reason I started this channel. lol. My Lavellan is also a Warrior (Champion) who sided with the Mages. She was protective over her clan and respected Dalish traditions, so she had no fear of magic and was fascinated by Solas and his wisdom about the ancient elves and the Fade (her vallaslin is for Dirthamen, so knowledge and secrets are kind of her thing). And I'm doing her official playthrough now (no pressure, but if you want to check out her story, you can find it here: ru-vid.com/group/PLQB3n-sZED6PL4E6tV3MpnLNQULnfzXSl ), so I haven't gotten to the breakup yet with her, but based on my former runs, I think she'll take it BADLY. I'm still not sure if she's going to play it stoic or call him a cold-hearted son of a bitch, but from the waterfall to Trespasser, she is definitely going to be angry. But when she learns about who he is and his plans, she will want to support/redeem him for sure.
I wouldn't call bringing back the Blood Dragon armour pandering, it's a sign to fans that there's a Bioware through line. That armour is even in Mass Effect. It might be trash but it's a symbol. In fact it's kind of frustrating to hear it be called pandering to appeal to people who are fans of the original game. That game is the reason this one exists, and while I'm absolutely not in the camp of the Origins only people (Inquisition is my favourite, Origins NEEDS a remaster), I am also understanding of them. The major issue was that almost nobody had any fears about the game not being a true successor or faithful continuation of the series' themes until that one absolutely diabolical trailer came out. I have a friend who hasn't played the series and she said she thought it was for a mobile game. What you see as 'pandering' is them stepping back and letting the fans expectations be met just a little, and if they've had to add the Blood Dragon armour to give it a little nostalgia boost in order to patch the gaping hole that the terrible trailer left in the community hype, then so be it. That trailer literally put FEAR into me that the Dragon Age series would go the way of How I Met Your Mother, where you have to ignore the final installment for it to be any good, but then you have no closure.
Personally, I've never cared much for the armor and didn't use it in either Origins or DA2 (and I haven't played ME), so I clearly don't have the same nostalgia for it, which is all I meant by "pandering"; like I didn't see it as that much of a grand gesture, just a kind of surface-level display (literally cosmetic) of solidarity. That's about as critical as I can be though because I also don't feel like a grand gesture needed to be made anyways since I never had the fear that a lot of other people had that this wouldn't be a "faithful continuation," so really, I'm just not the target audience for that kind of stuff. I'm glad you like the armor and that some of your fears were assuaged by the new trailer!

I love that Cole has this sort of childlike black and white view of the world, but coupled with the powers of a spooky demon/spirit. Also, his absolute nonexistent filter. Just a strait pipe from the mind to the mouth, no valves, no screens, no emergency shut off.
Same here. A spirit of compassion with no social awareness makes for some very interesting banter. Just exposing people's secrets and being adorable. 🤗
Wonder if Nyxx ever thought if Ascending Astarion so that they protect him from burning like he did at the shores. I know Nyxx was about to cry seeing him like that,,
Maybe a small part considered it, but I think their conviction that "absolute power corrupts absolutely" would win out. Ascended Astarion might have abilities that could protect him/them, but to do that, he would have had to become like Cazador, a person that neither they nor he could ever respect, and at this point in their story, they've learned that self-worth and integrity are more important than physical safety, power, or any of the other benefits of ascension (which is also why Nyxx chose to "die" rather than become Bhaal's Chosen). There's a line they say during Astarion's personal quest that I will never forget because it so perfectly encapsulates their philosophy about life: when he says, "I won't have to rely on the parasite to walk in the sun. I'll be free. Isn't that what you want?", Nyxx replies, "I want you to live a life you're proud of." So while it is awful to see him in pain and terrified, they know he's going to be okay because he's running toward a life he can be proud of. (And from a less serious/more selfish perspective, I'm sure a part of Nyxx is also a little relieved to have some confirmation that they get to go live in the Underdark again here. 😬BG3 did away with Sunlight Sensitivity, but in 5e D&D, Drow have disadvantage on perception checks and attack rolls while in the sun, so I imagine they've been experiencing a version of what he's going through - on a lesser scale of course - for a while now and are probably jazzed to finally get out of the Faerûn sun with him.)
Yeah headcanon that star and tav have a plan in place in case he starts to burn. Helps my heart 2 but come on larian please let us look worried or run after him please 🙏 😢😢
It can be tough for a Reaver since most of their abilities work best when they're injured, so if you're like me and don't want to have to closely monitor everyone in tactical mode, I recommend also giving him some Vanguard abilities (pretty much the whole left side of the tree, or Challenge) that add guard and armor bonuses. And this isn't actually a build for Bull, but if you want to focus on your Inky, personally, I play most of my Inquisitors pretty defensively (since they're the leader of the party, they would want to protect everyone, right?), so they always have a defensive strategy for the team as well; with Aislin, I'm using Horn of Valor with the Fortifying Blast upgrade from the Battlemaster tree to give everyone guard (and Healing Mist grenades for if things get really dicey), and with Meravas, I just spam Barrier on Blackwall - I mean, on all of my melee folks. ☺ I'll switch to a character to use a Healing or Regeneration Potion if I have to, of course, but again, I don't like tactical, so I prefer to manage everyone from my character's POV. And you're playing a Knight Enchanter, right? Because the Knight-Protector passive or even Resurgence are great for a more protective/healing strategy with an Inquisitor. Then the party can go crazy doing whatever they want while you manage the chaos. 😎
lol. It's one way that all of my characters are alike (or where I fail as a role-player maybe): they all want to brutally murder people who abuse animals. 🤗 Even my hunter here knows the deal.
