One time when i was working there, my roommate and i walked that same spot on the rim and the same thing happened. We were drinking tiny wines and it was night, she goes, in this happy voice, "is that an elk?" And i was like "OOO DONT LOOK AT IT, just keep walking" and I heard galloping coming towards us and I took off. She did too but she was like " i looked over and you were gone!!" Lmao run, why didnt you run?? It was fun though. We were further from the elk than this lady. We lived in the building between the two buildings seen here, kinda down the hill.
I'm amazed by the stupidity of some humans. Pound vs Pound An Wild Animal will destroy a Human every time. If it weren't for "weapons" humans would have been extinct thousands of years ago. Deer and Elks hooves are hard as Rocks, add to that the huge muscles in their legs and their stance in standing on their rear legs - they would CLUB YOU TO DEATH IN SECONDS!!
Awesome good job by the man to help his fellow human beings, way to go! Apex predatorial animals ( Which Wapati/ Elk are) don't belong in human inhabited areas. As it is self evident that these Elk do pose a danger to public safety. The geniuses in government need to have public Safety Patrols that wisk them away. The value of Human beings safety and lives takes precedent over animals.
Yeah he thinks he is in control has that figured out , if that is a male it is immature, I would pay money to see him try that action on a full mature Bull in Rut. His rear end will be in that tree before he could blink. They are afraid of nothing, they will take on a car head without hesitation. They are beautiful but give lots of room especially during Rut.
That guy is beyond stupid and lucky he didn't get charged and stomped into a mud hole. . I suggest you never reference this video if you encounter an elk.
@@1719456 Not luck. The elk was just eating some grass and wasn't even acting particularly aggressive. Now, if this was a bull in rut, I wouldn't get within a hundred yards of him with anything less than a .45-70
STUPID dumbass tourist if that elk had ever truly attacked they would all kiss their ass goodbye and then would be moaning as to why do they let this happen,STUPID
I would do the same, I hate deer and elk. They will hurt a woman with her back turned, but run from a charging man. Just saying. Deer and elk can kill you though, gotta be ready for it to call your bluff.
1st of all you need to look up the definition of charge. 2nd of all that guy needs a citation for harassing the wildlife. 1 IDIOT comment said "hero of the day" I say asshole of the day.
Until People can respect Animals, and not build a college, etc, in State Parks, or have a Walmart on every corner, this will always happen. We don’t Own, or live on this Planet alone.
This is why mexicans are not in northern forests. They get sodomized by wildlife and the cold chill turns there corpses yellow. Dont mistake retardation with fortitude.
Elk are fine as long as you don't bother them. We camped near Jasper, unknown to us, on an elk trail to the water. Twice a day for a week, six or so of them picked their way delicately across our site, took a long drink and strolled gently back to wherever. We never had any damage. We did wait until they had gone for the night before we started the fire. It was magic. That resort is not a good environment for an easily spooked animal.
I live in Jasper, a few months ago my buddy and I were walking along a trail near the river and a baby elk appeared to our left. Soon after we realized her mother was watching. She snorted once and started slow towards us. We both knew what followed so we booked it to the nearest tree, problem is we had the Athabasca river one step behind us. We were stuck running left and right around the tree for a good 20 minutes before 2 hikers showed up with a large stick. The elk turned to look at them sent them running the way they came, with the elk close on their tail. I've never ran faster in my life...
