The Davis High School Marching Band has always had a long tradition of excellence throughout their band program. In the past the band has been a 2000, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Bands of America regional finalist (in which it has finished in the top 5), and participated in the Rose Parade of 2003, and has been invited to return to the Rose Parade in 2013.[4] The DHS band program continues to provide state recognition The Band will represent the State of Utah in the 124th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California on January 1, 2013.
This is exactly what we do in our high school marching band. I’m now a 9th grader but I’m confused on the feet. I can do the feet. Idk why. But I just get confused all the way in the marching
honestly not as hard as you would think, you’ll remember it since you’ll do it over and over again i was able to always remember the show, here’s a tip, remember who’s around you or what’s around you it helps
Some of this stuff is very different from how I learned. For example, in our box drills when we pivot after going backwards, we don’t stay on our toes. Our attention form also keeps our toes and heels together
Today I watched a WWI film in which they sang a song called the Battle Song of Liberty (published and popularized in 1917). The chorus of that song is the same as the DHS fight song. But the music was first written in 1892 by F.E. Bigelow as "Our Director." Turns out the trio section is one of the most popular for school fight songs, including DHS and some college back east called Harvard.
Still my first favorite marching band show. I remember this from my very first, freshmen season of marching band. Now over 4 years later, I still find this stuck in my head. This was an inspiring show to me. This was one of the reasons I continued to march through highschool, and later into Drum Corps.
Guys... we gotta do better... That's including me, but I know we have it in us to be the best this year, we just gotta do better. That's all their is to it. (PS Go Davis!)
I love both you guys and AF! I'm from a 4A Idaho band, and whenever I get to see either of you perform at competitions, it brightens my day! Thanks for being so awesome! :)
From of our ward, Andrew and Quinton Smuin have been having a blast in California...After getting up at 3 am and marching approx 7 miles in the Rose Parade they are celebrating at Universal Studios. Wow the stamina of these young kids!
they were marching so darn fast we could barely keep up with them. My Andrew Michael Salisbury is playing a 45 lb. Bass Drum. and we are all gearing up to watch them in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA. New Years Day 2013
Amazing show guys. It was a pleasure competing with you at red rocks and at BOA. Can't wait to see your show next year! -trombone from foothill high school
Davis 2012 show- 1st movement winter from four seasons. 2nd: Carol of the bells. 3rd: trans-siberian orchestra carol of the bells. written by Key Poulan (same person who wrote this show)
I'm in this band. XD Oh, this makes me so happy. It also makes me happy to read all the comments below in support of the band. Thank you so much! We had so much fun performing!
