They are not behaving like Africanized. Bees, maybe aggressive bees, but not Africaned .If That was an Africanized hive. He would have been covered in bees. You would not have able to hear him. Talk in the video cause they would have covered whatever's recording as well. So I don't think those are Africanized but they are aggressive so he should not keep them because of the genetic line.
I had been afraid of bees all of my life, having been stung many times in my childhood. After watching videos like yours for the past several years I have grown a huge respect for bees and now find myself no longer afraid of them. But I do have a question. I have asked it before on many other beekeeper's channels that I follow, but have never received a reply. So I will ask it again. When you take the frames out and then replace them and the hive cover, how many bees get crushed? And as a beekeeper, is the loss of individual bees acceptable to the business? I know it is unavoidable due to the sheer number of bees, but it is something I have always wondered about. Thanks!
@@michaeltriglehmann55 they don’t get too smushed. You go slow and gentle with the frames, but sometimes the bees are under the edges of where the frame rests inside the box. As far as the lid goes, you can kinda twist it on in order to get the bees off as best you can before putting the full weight of the lid down. So it’s not too bad, not enough to notice a hive decline!
I'm east of you in Lampasas, 4 hives started July. We have 22 acres of Juniper Cedar. Hoping to have an AG exemption in 3-4 years, 10 frame langstroth with frame feeders in them to be 8"s. So far so good with some feeding. I live in Lake Jackson and hope to catch swarms to stock up there. I'm not sure about treatment free but maybe treat in moderation. Losing bee's bothers me, 1 out of 1 dies, us included. Thank You for the information!
Hahaha this is more like my experience here in africa when harvesting honey always so confused when i see people on RU-vid harveeting without a suit. I wish i had those kind of bees XD
I tried to keep a super hot hive that i got as a swarm. They have turned out to be partially africanized. They tried to invade my other hives when i went to extract honey from them so now i have to cull 😢
A couple days ago I noticed a bunch of bees on my back porch and today I found a huge quantity of them above my porch along the wall and I'm just going to leave them alone because they haven't been aggressive towards me
If it takes a European and an African bee to make the AFRICANIZED bee. Both bee species indepently are not typically excessively defensive but togethered they become super aggressive. Why then if it takes two to tango does the bee become branded with the "AFRICANIZED" label. Why not EUROPEANIZED? I know you didn't create the name. I'm just letting keepers know that the branding of AFRICANIZED is racist and challenge bee keepers to challenge the status quo and come up with a more appropriate title for the hybridized european and African bee. That is all 😊
@@DeanGoedel we have them in the bigger farm areas, I am in a neighborhood of 3-5 acre lots and so they usually aren’t here by me. But they’re a problem for anyone who has them!
I get so jealous when I help my friends that have sweet tempered Italian honey bees and I have these mutant demon bugs from hell. They can handle their bees barehanded if I look at mine wrong they will completely swarm me😂 my daddy always said if you're going to be dumb you better be tough I've gotten really tough😂
OMG I love this so much ! I also have mean bees! All of my hives are descended from one one Hive that was given to me because they were going to be euthanized because they were so aggressive. I now have three hives of these a-holes😂
@@jacobnelson9144 because the small hive is focused on getting new ones going, so they have a lot of energy to start cells, so they make a lot of them. Now if you left them to keep feeding, they’d quickly run out of energy and ability to finish the cells. So you take advantage of their energy on making royal jelly, since it’s loaded with young brood, and the finisher hive has the ability to finish off the amount of cells the starter makes.
Why? Why keep a hive that aggrssive? Beekeeping is supposed to be fun. You were in a state of utter terror and shere panic. So glad my bees are not like that, they'd soon be gone if any of them were.
@@HedgewitchHoney hahaha it is fun. ‘Utter terror and sheer panic” is a hilarious stretch. This is a RU-vid channel fella, it’s not all serious. This is real beekeeping. Bee wrangling. It’s a rodeo out here. I can’t help but picture someone used to little cute designer Italian bees being completely terrified like what you claim I was. This is fun. Treatment free, mostly hands off, free amazing fun.
Have you tried vinegar? You can also clean your smoker lip with the vinegar so it gets Smokey from the oils, put it in a spray bottle and spray it on your gloves and around your ankles….
That's like a few of my hives there great to work don't go in fast don't hit frame on box shake bees infront of hive not ontop and sugar water in hair spray bottle works alittle as well as the smoke to much smoke is just as useless as no smoke
Congratulations both 'mom and dad' with the baby, I'm really happy for you guys. i had four of them, long time ago and it was amazing. The house is growing as well, please keep showing the progress.\ By all means thumbs are up for you guys. 👍👍👍
Thanks for this. Makes perfect sense. I will never be a bee keeper but I can appreciate them for what they do for the balance of nature and of course the honey! You have a simple straightforward gift of video making. I was a professional video editor for years and you are a pleasure to watch. I subscribed and wish you the best. Tod in Las Vegas. We have bees here but it’s a bit of a gamble. Sorry. 😊
Any idea what plant the nectar is from which produces the dark honey? I don't mind darker honey or the blends with it. Even though honey you get from keepers isn't filtered, it is often tastier and stays good for a longer period of time. Little chunks don't bother me. Gravity takes care of this issue. After a few days, any crap is at the bottom of the jar. If there is any.
@@dennishish5930 because they’re too good, and I love a little fire. Nice bees are boring to me. I want a hive that’s roaring and looking like nothing you’ve ever seen
