Hi there, I need your help making a decision through this question...What does the northern lights look like with the naked eye when you went there on December when you saw a peak intensity (KPI of 10)??? How green are the lights? Would you compare the hue or saturation of the lights through your eyes (not w the camera) the same as what the March northern lights looks like on the camera? I'm asking because I experienced northern lights here in Washington, USA in spring 2024 but through my naked eye the lights only look gray haze w only a slight tint or shade of green but the video looks about the same as your March northern lights @11:12 Thank you in advance!
There's also a VERY important information about salaries in Switzerland that I never hear in any of thess videos. There is no minimum salary in Switzerland! That means that employers will try to get you to accept really low salaries depending on your personal situation (specially if you are a foreigner...). Not everything is great in Switzerland even if the propaganda tells you otherwise
Hi, so helpful as arriving Torp 21.00 and nervous where to stay close to the airport. I can take a taxi from Torp or do you know is there a bus at night from the airport? I can’t find online, everything is about going to Oslo which I don’t want to do.

I am from the Philippines and now reside in Australia for over 30 years, which really don't have the winter that you have in that country. I wonder if I survive the cold. hahaha
Hi, I will be going to Tromso this coming Dec. For Northern Lights tours, you recommend Tromsø Friluftsenter tour company? Is it the best among the rest? Any other tour company other than this? How's about Amazing Arctic and Norwegian Travel Tour company? Any thought or other recommendation?
..My son is 21..in 2 or 3 years, has the idea to move to Norway to finish Masters degree and work on electronics/computer/IT.. we are portuguese, but honestly, think Switzerland would be a better choice.. More oriented to nice european car culture, traveling easier from one country to another by car, roads, weather.. this video is 3 years old..lot has changed.. one of my concerns is the illegal imigration.. In Portugal for example, in Lisbon, it is not safe anymore, and looks a mix between India, Bangladesh and Africa gueto.. Norway looks a nice postal card, but, it has a dark and harsh winter life in my opinion..I don't know..i think he will be happier in Switzerland..
If i am going mid nov to late nov, which is better for me? I heard snow might not happen in tromso and it will be quite dark to look around whereas snow starts in oct for lapland.
Impressive video! Can I know if you are using iphone normal or pro version? Do you set specific settings? And do you advise that I should stay at Tromso for 5 nights or 2 nights in Tromso and 3 nights in Lofoten in Oct?
I have an iPhone 13 Pro! I did not set any specific settings and I have never been in Lofoten so can’t advise on that ☺️ depends what you want to do and see!
Swiss German is a dialect, you can get by with High German quite easily. Also don`t judge the whole country by what things cost in Zurich or Geneva. Most people i know here don`t smoke. A lot of fruit and vegetables are imported from places like Spain. The local produce here is a lot more tasty. Swiss people are reserved, it doesn`t mean they are not friendly, you just have to get to know them, it takes a while but they make good friends when you get to know them better. I love my country and i wouldn`t want to live anywhere else. I have lived in Australia but i moved back here in 2008.
In the Tromsø area a 3 on the KP index usually will give nice northern lights for the camera at least if you go to a dark place and there is little to no moon. 4 or 5 is usually really good even for the naked eye. while its true that an outbreak of NL can last for only a few minutes it can also last for hours and hours with waves after waves going over the sky. And another ting that no one mentions is that you shouldn't not travel to experience the NL when its a full moon or close to because the light from the moon "washes" out the NL. It doesn't mean its impossible to see but it have to bee stronger to be visible. You you're self actually experienced it in your video "BEST TIME TO SEE THE NORTHERN LIGHTS AND VISIT TROMSØ (NORWAY)" but you did not understand why it the NL was dimmer and more washed out.
I like that you mention the moon, but what you said was factually incorrect... We have the same moon faces that the rest of the world even when the sun is under the horizon. But what no one mentions is that you shouldn't not travel to see the northern lights when its a full moon or close to because the light from the moon "washes" out the aurora borealis. It doesn't mean its impossible to see but it have to bee stronger to be visible. So check the moon faces before you book a trip.
That statement did bug me a bit too, had to check I'm not missing something in my astronomy knowledge and coming back here you already wrote the comment for me.

Well done! It is good to say out loud how racists the Swiss are! Especially to foreigners who are MORE QUALIFIED than themselves… not to mention they made the foreigners pay more for the same objet or service, for example the car insurance is 30% more expensive if you are foreigner, if you ask money to the bank…guess what ? You have a bigger interest rate…and so on and so worth…at least now they let the Italians enter in the restaurants…which some 80 years ago was prohibited with prohibition signs at the doors!! Can you imagine?
Thank you for the very informative video. It's definitely on my bucket list. I've been to Iceland three times and loved it. But I would love to see the fjords my dream would be to drive from Bergen to Tromso. But I think the gas prices in the vehicle rental would be pretty expensive. I would love to be able to rent a van and just sleep in the van. Anyways it's on my dreaming list.
I'm doing Christmas in Tromsø this year. I expect to see the lights, but I also hope that whale watching will turn out OK even though there is very little light.
Many of my friends advised me to book tours on multiple days. Is it really necessary to book it or booking longer duration tour for a day is sufficient?? Kindly recommend
Well, the more you book, the more chances you have but also the more expensive it is… and it is not something you can predict so you can never say what is best to do.
