This is not another indie cinematography channel. We are all about high level industry standard production practices. You will learn lighting and lensing techniques from a Director of Photography perspective.
The TLDR is, just have your camera and accessories turned off and unplug wall power while you build or make changes to your camera rig. Seems simple, but an easy mistake to make when in a rush.
Every long-term red camera review i have watched so far, had at least once had their body replaced 😮 is QC that bad on that brand? As i live on a remote island n support is non existent.
I don’t know… I’ve got an 8k Helium myself and I don’t have the slow processor you have. But mine is the upgraded 8K at 90fps version. Also, I always thought the V Raptor looked a lot like a DSLR on steroids as opposed to a FILM film camera. I worked on a Hulu production and they brought the v raptors in towards the end of the production and they scrapped all the v raptor footage.
This is so helpful! I am shooting some darker scenes and in a dark room, to get dips to black, I am exposing skin tones around 30-40IRE. We are shooting in Braw too. Information is there, but we have very reflective walls…so I don’t want to push too much light. We are at 800iso too so not pushing the noise.
Actually, many view that the term “cinematographer” is fitting to a DP who has achieved the making of at least one long form/feature project and is generally therefore regarded as a lil more accomplished. You can’t really call yourself a cinematographer by the pure sense of the term if you’re a DP with only short form/commercial/corporate experience. In a nutshell, you need to have “created a piece of cinema”.
@@airfilm_it I 3D printed the OLPF part, added a VV Montros Standard OLPF glass, and a x0.71 magnify glass from an adapter/speedbooster, using a Canon Mount adapter to leave enough space for the glass, and boom! it works perfectly
Sounds like you invested deep into the DSMC2 system, mainly buying RED proprietary accessories, which made you heavily dependent on the ‘potential’ of RED staying with the DSMC2 tech for a long time. But companies like RED evolve very fast, that’s nothing new. If you wanted true longevity, maybe you should’ve considered Arri. A lot of your opinions & complaints are solvable now with combining different manufacturers’ products and the new DSMC3 features actually streamline the production process in my opinion.
All we bought with the dsmc2 ecosystem was the media and handles. (Top handle and side) one can figure that those could easily transfer to new tech (especially a handle... it's a piece of metal) but alas... that's not the case
I'm probably asking for to much or you maybe under contract but would you be wiling to make a video regarding the disband of team edge i and a few others have expressed that we feel there is more to the story. The team edge had the potential to continue even if the original three retired in my and other humble opinion there is a multitude of ideas and collaborations that can be done even if yall made the same games but with new cast members new blood new jokes new ambience new diversity the edge universe could have had other group oriented join in you have NODE, THE BOYS, SIDE MEN yall had a few people come over and that was awesome like markiplire would mat and the other two be ok with allowing new cast members take the wheel i feel like Mat wanted things to be absolutely perfect an put a lot of breaks and barriers but i feel like you just need to jump into the void and explore new things
@TheObsessiveDP you mean like payment wise? Wait, also, who's getting the payment when you join the channels membership 🤔and I do see that yall used a lot of resources and staff maybe yall could have asked the audience for help buying stuff like nerf darts, paint, toys etc that way the cost could be reduced maybe even hold like events where people and fans could come out and try the challenges like a theme park almost entrance fees and merch. Do you see in the foreseeable future of them make some what of a comeback even if it's like a video once or twice a year
More dynamic range in the helium but at this level we are all just splitting hairs Both are good enough and if your budget only allows a Komodo the end product whether shot on Komodo or helium will not matter as much as the content and the cinematography
I’m sorry, but I just need to say, I completely disagree. Lightsabers aren’t real, so why do lightsabers need to be realistic? This is a space fantasy universe. Our world’s rules and physics do not apply. I’m sorry, but using those glowing toys as lightsaber props and making lightsabers look more “real” just highlights how fake they are. It literally highlights that the lightsaber is just a glowing toy prop and not what they are trying to make it out to be; a lightsaber. By making the lightsabers glow the way they did, the light spreads out over a certain distance which takes away a lot of the laser aspect out of the lightsaber. The lightsabers in the prequels kept it contained. To me, it looks like you can see the color of the lightsaber surrounding the blade core which is white. The colored part of the lightsaber is pretty much the glow you want, but again, it’s contained to create the shape of the lightsaber. The way Disney did it, It makes it look like people playing with toys and glowing baseball bats. When they use the non-glowing sticks and do it in post, it makes the lightsaber look much more unreal (which is a good thing), elegant, and other worldly. Having lightsabers be realistic kinda makes them lame and just boring because why do we have to limit them to the rules of our world? I really don’t like that Disney made lightsabers have sparks when they clash and how they made the lightsabers’ glow so oversaturated and how limited they have made lightsabers and terms of what they can cut and do and I just hate just how cheap they made the lightsabers look. I love the look and rules of the lightsabers from the prequels. It’s so simple, clean, and elegant. God, I miss it.
Thank you for creating some wonderful content that our company can benefit from using. We have watched a number of your videos and in the process of starting a video podcast in the near future. We appreciate any content you create that speaks to using proper lighting and photography for our company, ITour Studios. We are looking to collaborate on ideas if you have time to reach out. Thanks, and keep up the great video content creation.
camera companies should just release cameras with a big red / orange hue tilt and price it aggressively. Then youtubers pick it up and say "i LovE wHaT thEy DiD tO tHe ColOr SciEnCe!!!!" and recommend their audience the cameras = profit $$
Does anyone, can anyone recommend a rucksack for the V-Raptor? Body, 2 Lenses med size, Monitor, Top and side handle and cage (broken down ), two batteries and charger. For plane carry on.
To be honest, I felt similarly about the expansion port when I first got a Komodo way back when. I started to realize over time that the EXT port is actually just an evolution of the modular DSMC2 back plates. The accessories out right now are still a bit limited, but Mutiny is crushing it. They have a tiny little I/O box to transform the EXT port into the Sync / Ctrl functions you’re looking for. Just ordered a Raptor brain after 6 years with Helium. It’s just a bummer it too so long for accessories and software to come around to make it a usable DSMC2 replacement. As much as people are talking trash about the MiniMag click, I’ll also miss it. Just excited for cheaper media!
