@@whites32 Whatever makes you feel better about a bad pick, but the comparables to Laughton in scouting reports and statistical performance in OHL in 2 years prior to draft are very similar.
I think like you were talking on the other show how the Flyers a couple years ago were preparing to be big but they went small I think that's what they're doing here is they're going small in the NHL is now big and then the NHL is going to change back to speed with the small guys so I think they're thinking a step ahead and maybe
This dude always has a problem with whoever they pick. Danny said he is going into the draft wanting a center and that’s what they did. So far Danny and his front office have been making the right decisions, I’ll take their advice. Just like last year how ppl had an issue with picking Bonk and seems like he’s been a solid pick so far with his development.
I wish I could be more positive here but that went as bad as it could for flyers. They miss on the guy they wanted (Dickenson) then exacerbate the situation by taking a player at #13 most project as bottom/middle six player. That is last thing Flyers fans want to be hearing after Hextall essentially mastered the art of constructing team with bottom/middle six players. We still need to give Danny and scouts some room here as it looks like they crushed it in last years draft. Sleep it off Danny and have a better day tomorrow.
I dont get passing on Buium but I like taking Luchanko over Helenius. I did not want Helenius (limited upside) or Yakemchuk (no hockey sense) so I am a little disappointed but it could have been worse.
Yeah but interesting for sure, I was hoping for Catton but luchanko is a pass first player (I’ve heard I haven’t seen much film) which is what we need if we are going to center our team around Michkov being the finisher
Player development for the Flyers has been bad. I always point out that other than Giroux, I can't think of a player the Flyers drafted in the top rounds who exceeded expectations. At best, the players turn out as projected, and usually less than projected.
In the 17th draft , Flyers Scouts BEGGED Ron Hextall to Select Cale Maker with the Second pick , but Hextall wanted the slow guy from Hextalls home town Brandon. Hey Rachel you could have challenged your partner Rus on this. Hextall wasn't much better than Fletcher, if any.
Love em for being flyers fans, complete idiots for their opinions, trade Travis konecny because he'll get paid too much! That's right, trade your best player ( BY FAR) At 27 yrs old...prime of his career likely next 4-5 yrs ..trade him now right Russ? Then try and draft a player to be as good like ..forever, because they grow on trees?
There will be plenty of 30 yr Olds ( $10 million per year)when the Flyers are ready to compete in 3-5 years. Need high picks now to develop for that time frame. TRADE HIM!
If there’s a chance to move up for Catton or Helenius, I’d be all for it. But I have confidence that this group will make the right pick at 12 if that’s where they stay.
