Hi! I'm Patrick and I take photos and I live in Victoria, British Columbia. Follow me as I continue to learn this art called photography and share what I'm learning with y'all.
You did get some good shots...and it only takes one to make the day...and if it ends up with nothing then enjoy the fact you're out walking... not a street photographer but do enjoy seeing shots where you setup on a good light and dark area and wait for people to walk into the area... Roman Fox does a good job of that - his channel if you don't already know about it. www.youtube.com/@snapsbyfox
I'm still working on figuring out this RU-vid thing a couple years later. I struggle with the part time aspect of it, just don't have the time I would love to dedicate to it right now, but I'm marching on and having fun. I'm a bit south of you down in Oregon.
That's exactly why I started my channel this year too! I also love that you sponsored yourself!! :) And I love how you've got such a great videography style already too - I really want to get more into that too - but at the moment I'm just doing it from my desk.
@@patrickgerardphotography Just finished a couple of hours ago...listen... you got camera presence and the energy...now focus on content and length... bell rang....looking forward to future videos.
Welcome to the Fujifilm team. Brace yourself because it won’t be your last and now you will want to buy more lenses. The x-e4 was my first Fujifilm. I’m a Sony shooter and now have more Fujifilm cameras than Sony. I added the hand grip and thumb rest to the x-e4. It feels so much better in hand
@@patrickgerardphotography I have a few of the XF lenses but my favorite x-mount lenses are the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 and the 27mm f/1.2. They are bigger than the 23mm and 35mm f/2 but the sharpness and bokeh you get is fantastic. Plus the price for them is incredible for what you get. I shoot portraits but the 27mm has been great for street.
Hi Patrick, great video with nice background music. One small critique if you don't mind. It seems you are a taller guy and the angle of your photos reflect this. What I mean you may try out to shoot more from hips level as the angle (mostly top down of your current photos) is too obvious. Well it's art and everybody think differently but why not to try new things? Other than this I think your photos are very good, nice colors and compositions (except the angle). Greetings from Shanghai, Seb
AYEEE look who's also out here making videos! Enjoyed this man! Laughed to myself a couple times about the gopro mounting situation 😂 A tip if you decide to do more of these in the future is to mount it to your chest! That's what I do and it makes it feel waaaayyy less awkward especially when it's cold or cooler outside and you can wear a jacket overtop to conceal most of it! Hoping to see more videos from you!
Great video! I think the mix on the music is a tad too loud to hear you clearly but other than that the info provided is excellent. Just getting into film myself so these types of videos are always appreciated.
@@patrickgerardphotography Sound can definitely be tough to tell but once you find the sweet-spot you can use those settings for the future. I would recommend having a separate audio track for your mic audio and one for the music, that way you can adjust them as needed. I'd see how it sounds with the music like .5 dB lower. It's definitely still a great video but just something that bugs me personally.
Awesome! Glad you subbed! Yes I graded with Davinci resolve. I just do a basic edit and then a LUT I use for colour. I just got the X-E4 so stay tuned for a lot of videos with that!
Just started up myself. Having some of the same thoughst as you as I wan't to show that you do not need to go to Iceland or Mongolia to take good pictures, allthough I am cheating a bit as I live in Norway wich seem to be very fancy among camera peeps at the moment., lol
I have done some POV walks and found the best result when I have the POV camera mounted on my chest with a harness. This way I get the best stable POV shot and can turn my head around looking for pictures, without making the viewers dizzy :) I need to remember to turn against the subject and not just swing the camera to the side to snap the picture. I like the pictures when the street lights and windows are the main light source. It gives a nice vibe to the pictures.
Would love to see a comparison video, my local camera store only carries the Ilford, which I like, but I'd love to see a direct comparison if possible!
