At the time i was recording the gameplay, there was no medium settings. It was only high or low. I dont know if they have added a medium graphic settings in or not.
It took me a good while to figure out. Basically everytime u start the game(or wake from sleep), u’ll need to do this. U press left side steam button, controller layout, click more layout or custom layout(i forgot the name, create your own layout. Go back into the game. No button or joystick should work. Then u go back to the controller layout page, select the original recommended layout. The joystick and the trigger should then be working. Dont press steam button or the performance button after the joystick is working. Or u will have to repeat the process to fix it.
I’ve been searching for a video that clarifies the differences between the Steam Deck and the upcoming ROG Ally X for months. As an Apex Legends player who primarily plays on a console and travels frequently between countries, I’m torn between the two options. I want to play smoothly and competitively, better than on an average PC. Could you help me decide which would be the better choice? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
forgot to ask you this but ...what res do you play at and what are your settings? are u happy with the overall performance on the Deck or is something like the ROG Ally better fit for shooters?
i dont own the ally so i cant speak on that. Everything is set to low, fov 104, vsync off, disable frame limit, native res. Obviously im quite a sweat. Steam deck hardware limits how well i can play. TO ME. Its honestly not the best experience. Its really only good for getting ur daily and weekly missions done in mixtape. If u care about your stats in pubs, dont play on the deck. I was lucky the lobby was relatively easy as i filmed the video.
The button layout is another issue. The steam decl layout is terrible for shooters. I think the play station remote portable thing has the best button layout. Its basically a regular ps5 controller with a screen in the middle. If that thing can run games natively and give you 144fps minimum, It would be the best shooter handheld.
@@jack-bn3zh yeah i kinda looked a bit awkward on your video but i couldn't identify it properly, i no-life with a dualsense edge so like you i'm at home with the PS layout and thought that the symmetrical sticks on the Deck were a good alternative of that but I guess not hmm thanks a lot for the info! i'll start looking for alternatives
@@frieren848 im glad people try it, no shame to the noobs and low skilled players. But its nice to see that people are "able" to frag out on the steam deck. Would be nice if they added a option to increase the HUD size just like the switch version has when its in handheld.
@@typhlo9797 true, but this is EA/nuRespawn unfortunately, they already keep breaking things every season (I think the Deck still has long freezes at the beginning while looting?) so I wouldn't get my hopes up, even the 120fps mode on consoles is mediocre.
It’s really really laggy this season. The skin dont even load up half the time during character select screen. Freezes happen here and there. The overall experience wasnt as nice as the last time i played. But they did the change the status from “verified” to just “playable” tho.
I got the Hall effect Sn30 Pro (gameboy color scheme) and this piece of shIt has drift on the left stick. Some games get stuck moving right, but it only shows the drift in the browser test about 1/10 times.
i cant use it. the paddle position, all 4 of them imo are poorly placed or designed. if im holding the steam deck like shown in the video, my ring or pinky finger DO NOT have the strength to press down on L4,5,R4,5. i just cant. maybe its just me or maybe its the button being too hard to press down. i dont really know. i dont have a history of playing with back paddle. i always claw on my right and sometimes on my left. perhaps i just dont know how to play with paddles?
No particular reason. Just personal preference honestly. My eyes are used to seeing the 75hz gameplay since thats what ive been gaming on on my desktop monitor for many years. And the recoil control is somewhat different in different HZ. So i try to stick with what im used to. U guys should uncap it for the best low latency experience.
Anything from 60hz to 90hz is playable imo. The display is so small that playing on 90hz wont make you play any better than playing on 60hz. Also playing on 60hz will reduce ur fan speed and noise by a hell lot compared to completely uncapping ur frame rate.
@@Raichasnessall low, 104 fov, 800p, about 80-110 fps from my experience. If there are multiple big ult like gibby ult, bang ult, bang smoke etc all going on right in ur face right next to you, i feel like the fps might dip down to 50-70. I haven’t encountered that yet but this will most likely be the case. Overall a solid 80+ fps guaranteed in most scenarios.
I ordered it, hopefully that doesn’t happen to me but it’s good to know there’s fix for it. I think old controllers had that feature to recalibrate themselves unlike modern ones like xbox or dualsense.
They are the “fake/knock off” of kontrol freek galaxy white from aliexpress. U get 1 low 1 high for 4 dollars. I bought two sets and used only the low one on both sticks. I was using the ps5/ps4 version of the grips and they fitted perfectly.
My Xbox controller has major stick drift goin on, and I was thinking about the possibility of using my 8bitdo sn30 for Apex, wasn't sure if anyone else was crazy enough to try this, but glad to see there is lol! Is it almost impossible or what?
its a very good controller. i still have no stick drift at all after using for 4 months straight compared to the default ps5 controller(returned) which i got a tiny bit of stick drift(playing 4 3 linear no deadzone) out of the box on the first day. in this video, i was still learning how to play controller in general, i know i played really bad in this video but the controller is not bad at all. its just me sucking hard. so it is 100% possible to play apex on this controller. pros: 1. trigger has no travel at all. u can spam click it very easily for single fire weapon. 2. very easy to play claw. cons: 1. the dpad is very stiff. its hard to claw on the left side. 2. the grip is kinda weird. and it takes quite some time to get used to. im gonna upload another gameplay of me using it. i ve gotten a lot better with playing w controller in general. still bad but much better now.
