Welcome to the Official RU-vid Channel of the University of the Pacific's Choral Ensembles.
Choral music at the University of the Pacific has a long and distinguished tradition with the first collegiate a cappella choir in the West established here in 1916. Under the direction of Dr. Yejee Choi, the Pacific Choral Ensembles are a rich and vital component of Conservatory and University life. They are a platform for the fundamentals of ensemble collaboration, musicianship and musicality, providing an opportunity to learn a myriad of styles and genres while singing together. Representative repertoire includes Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9" (performed with the Stockton Symphony), Brahms's "Liebeslieder Walzer", Fauré's "Requiem", and a variety of classical, spiritual and gospel, jazz and a cappella repertoire from different cultures.
Great Tone! Great control of dynamics and pitch. I graduated from UOP in 1968 and went on to get a doctorate in choral music from Arizona State University and then taught at Michigan State University and Murray State University before retiring in Montana. I was in this choir. This is a very fine choir and a great conductor! Wonderful singing on a very difficult piece! Steve Michelson
Thank you, Steve. My apologies for the delayed response;I read your comment just now. We are honored to continue building the legacy of choral tradition here at Pacific. Certainly, the line has not broken! Please stay in touch. Gratefully.
