Tina is a former teacher now working in EdTech sales. She lives on the coast of Maine with her fiance and two dogs, but would much rather be in the desert! She loves to travel and film snippets of her life to share with everyone!
Hi. Thank you so much for this video. It moves me to get on to my decisions. I have some questions, actually, but to explain some backgrounds kinda of lengthy since I am not in the same country as yours.
Thanks for sharing your journey. It is helping me decide if Ed Tech may be an area I should do. I would still like at least half the summer off to be with my daughter. I believe I learned that you do work summers. You do have a great life balance, which is amazing. Please keep us updated.
Teaching is scrutinizing which is why I want out, which is what you touched upon. I demoted myself to substitute. This is my 30th year. Also, cannot keep up with the teacher evaluation work on the weekends as a single parent.
Congrats! 🎉 Teaching is no longer just that. If you also have things you value in your home life, there are better options. I took a notary course, but it is tough to break into. I may look into Ed Tech again. I am considering Virtual Assistant.
I enjoyed your vlog! When you start something new, there is always a period of adjustment. It sounds like you are facing those challenges head-on, but remember to give yourself grace. Also, is there a way you could collaborate with another team or peer (even on a temporary basis) to brainstorm ideas and get advice?
Thank you for sharing your story. You hit it on the head when you said teaching was all consuming. I resigned at the end of 23-24 school year. I’m still feeling a lot of guilt and wondering if I made the right decision. Teaching was toxic for me. I was not mentally healthy while teaching and my relationships suffered. I know I will feel at peace with my choice in due time.
Hello, your classroom space is beautiful. I love plants too! Got them dotted around😊. Your affirmation area is great. Thank you for taking the time to share your world. Blessings Susie 🇬🇧🙏
This country will never value or pay teachers enough compared to other careers. Next year I plan on doing this teaching field for the last time and I am out. 🙏🏾
Thanks for sharing parts of your day. It was interesting to me to see a bit of a workday, so different than what I was familiar with as a former teacher.
Your dogs are absolutely precious! Their simultaneous wagging tails was sooo cute! You are awesome to have switched out of teaching to a career that makes you happier! So happy for you!
They bring me so much joy. If things get even remotely stressful, I just lay on the floor with them for a few minutes and all is well in the world again! Haha Thank you so much! 🥺🫶🏼
I absolutely can! I think I’m going to do a monthly wrap up moving forward, but I also will be talking more about books in my daily vlogs, too! Reading has always been such a huge part of my life and I’m excited to share that with everyone
@@itskristinamoro So far, I’ve reserved Unfortunately Yours, The Unhoneymooners, Archer’s Voice, and The Simple Wild. Currently, I’m reading It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover. Very good so far.
Ive been following you for a while on RU-vid and love the content! How did you find this type of position?! Also a former teacher but currently working in finance, very interested in getting back into education in some form!☺️
Good grief, this brought such a smile to my face. I'm so happy you're here on this journey with me! This is probably something I could do an entireeeee video on! But I spent a lot of time on LinkedIn's job listings, Indeed, and I would Google "ed tech jobs" on the regular. LinkedIn isn't as sketchy, but with Indeed or other websites, I would always cross-check the company's website to be sure it's a legit job opening. With that being said, apply, apply, apply! I applied for my current company multiple times for nearly 2 years before landing an interview. Anytime the same (or similar) position reopened with them or a few other companies, I would apply again. I had no shame. It really just came down to timing. But I especially watched the career pages of edtech or curriculum companies I was familiar with and liked from my teaching days! Best of luck in your search! They're out there and it takes time, but don't give up 🫶🏼
I mean, what I do day to day IS related stuff 😂 But I’m in ed tech sales, so I work with school districts and admin who are looking to purchase PD or licenses.
Hey Tina! So glad to see you doing better and enjoying this new chapter of your life! As a pre-k teacher, I’ve always loved watching your vlogs, and even tho you’re no longer teaching, I’d still watch a lifestyle or day in the life vlog from you. You’re such a great person and so inspiring, keep being you! 💕
Number 3 resonates with me, I have 3 kids all in different after school activities and crazy schedules... my son always asks me why I don't talk in the car on the way home.... because after teaching 4th graders all day I am fricken brain exhausted....
Yes!!!! My mom taught at the school I went to until I was in 3rd grade and every single day, we rode home in total silence. Once we got home, she was all about talking and catching up! I never understood why until I became a teacher 😂 You're so strong for doing it all 🫶🏼
Congrats on your life change. I grew up in Mesa/Apache Junction Arizona and then lived in the White Mountains of Arizona for 15 years. Absolutely beautiful state. The heat of the valley can REALLY get to you! Plus its extremely crowded. However the White Mountains area is where id move back to 100 times over! Just breath taking.
We really enjoyed everywhere out there so far! We’ve been scouting out areas during our various trips and we didn’t see Apache Junction yet, but we did like the west valley/outskirts near Buckeye and Surprise!
I pray that there is an entire shift in our education system. Teachers are my heroes. Our teachers and kids deserve a better system where there is respect and balance all around.
I hope there is, too. Teachers deserve so much more (and better) of everything-- respect, resources, work-life balance. Or we could even just start with getting their basic human needs met by being able to use the bathroom. Things like this would never fly in other professions and it’s infuriating.
We bought an electric smoker that was defective when we received it. When we requested a new one, hubby had to cut the cord that same way. I guess it's a thing with postage being so high. Glad they are sending you a new one. Were you engaged before you stopped teaching? Congratulations!
