Sanyal has morphed into a Macaulayan!! Try focusing on the Quality of living or Ease of living!! 3 trillion or 30 trillion economy is not going to help! Our cities and towns have collapsed! Judicial and police reforms have been bandied about. NOTHING ever comes out of all their policies, except more crazy kind of living in India! Sanyal and his ilk should drive or walk in our cities, so should Modi or Rahul or the IAS Babus IPS and the MiLords!! No footpaths, no roads, we are the worst in terms of infrastructure!

A very well delivered speech. Makes all the relevant point. One thing that Sanjeevji should have detailed more is India’s path to energy independence. Given our fragile dependence on Middle Eastern Oil, India needs to think about alternatives which can be developed at scale. Green hydrogen unfortunately is not the answer.
Sir, your statement about respecting contracts and related legal reforms is highly appreciated. However, just yesterday, Kerala Assembly has reportedly passed a new legislation banning taking over of houses which are used as homes in the case of loan defaults. Is it a good step? Will banks be willing to loan for home loans in Kerala? But, obviously , it is a politically very rewarding for the ruling party in Kerala, the left front.
When we talk about absolute poverty eradication schemes or direct support to the very poor, we often find more number of people are benefiting from these schemes than the actual eligible numbers. 1) So, whether the Govt has failed in getting correct data of the eligible number of beneficiaries ? 2) When we say we have included more beneficiaries under various schemes like free ration scheme etc , is it an achievement or a failure as it indicates there still exist a lot more poverty in the system even after so many years of various public welfare policies ?
24:54 This point is quite noteworthy. We could not expect what has been observed in "Miracle of East Asia", where east Asian countries had dramatically grown thanks to strong export. Make sense Dr.Rajan has been proposing service-led growth.
A very important issue that is not given due attention is fighting public corruption. At a minimum, there should be a national law that mandates anyone caught accepting bribe to be dismissed from his job and spends a minimum five years in prison.
As I understand it, the CBI Governor dr. Rajan had a major role in cleaning up the Indian banks. It would be illuminating if dr. Sanyal could shed some light on his role in this.
With these stories Why Indian currency depreciated by 35 % in last 10 years Trade deficit 100 billion plus and all advanced economies are Manufacturing hub and exporting Per capita income behind Bangladesh
It's one thing to have a vision, the other is to have the courage to see things through. The bureaucratic system in India is so entrenched in corruption and inefficiency that it would need a major overhaul to see changes. Who got the courage to do that?
With respect to reforming the judicial system how come Mr sanyal does not mention increasing the number of judicial officials to international standards, so as to speed up the disposal of the pending accumulated cases
