I have a 1986 wr 400 since new just finishing restoration . These bikes pull hard from bottom to top. It says just under 40 horsepower hard to believe seems like a lot more . Ive pulled along side of 490 s and 500 cr/ kxs and out ran them on the top end
Is everyone who starts a husqvarna handicap? Im right handed and right footed but i don't do the can't get it done cause im lazy and dumb. Its called a left foot and trying dipshits!!!!
Research a decade ago showed heavier aftermarket springs in Europe. They prescribed 4 inches of rear sag. By the no preload adjustment was left. I'd found as much preload as possible with heavier form oil. There should be a way to calculate average rider weight and spring rate for preload. I'd imagine frames breaking on Japanese bikes if Supercross with 250 pound riders. Result: 5 bulging disks with spinal cord contact..
Had a used CR-430 i will always regret losing. Should have added a rear disk and heavier flywheel. Ive wondered too if single rear shocks and linkages are better. Heavier riders dont get the springs they need past 175. ( How the heck can a 250 pound rider set preload and sag? Jockies.)
Immaculate 75 Mikkola Replica shares the honor of peak Husqvarna. You never see these bikes - and I just don't understand why more is not seemingly made / understood of them. Barely got a glance, full frame at it - like the 500 and 510. The others those you do see
I had (have) an 86.5 xc 500 and the engine blew. I'm much older now and thinking about mounting an xc350f ktm engine in it. That frame has the geometry I've grown to love and don't care for the newer flat top bikes. Either that or I might consider selling it for the right money. Oh I have a 90 MX 500 ktm also that is for sale. 3500.00 for that bike with low hours. (65 hp). In Pa.

I dearly love those old bike's style. A gas tank looking like a gas tank makes the bike look like a bike in my eyes. The new ones look like a vehicle out of star wars maybe because my eyes are 63 y.o. and my brain at the same age can not forget the the photos of Heikki Mikkola on the wall my room, showing him on an older Husky than yours in blackish drak-red color, climbing or straddling into the air...Yours is a great sample, and the tank in volcano shape is excellent.
That's a brutal sounding beast of a bike. When the riders at the starting gate heard that monster coming up they said. Oh, shit! I ain't winning this moto.
