Another great video. You were hooking up good Paul. Was out a few times this week all schoolies, but still fun. Love watching your videos brother. Have a great week Regards Mark
Yeah Mark,,,when the baits here, they're here,,,,I still gotta look up the species of those small white birds,,,half the size of gulls,,but they, BY FAR, seem to be the best, most accurate, telltale birds, every time,,,im guessing they're gonna be a tern? But they dive into the water like fishhawks, and follow the bait perfectly, making it easy, to spot,,,,Thanks for watching, Mark,,,,p.s.just did research ,,probably terns, im seeing, they feed on small baits, gulls, and shearwaters, feed on larger baits,,,and gannets, are the fishhawk, crash divers,,,finally, looked it up,,lol,,,,😎
With circle hooks, NEVER LOOSE,,,,before you cast, tighten your drag, ALL THE WAY DOWN, then loosen it, JUST ENOUGH, so that you can, BARELY PULL, the line out, a good amount, that should be just about right,,,,you want a tight drag, with circles, so when the fish swims off, with the bait, THE HOOK CATCHES, AND SETS ITSELF,,,,,you never want a loose drag, WITH CIRCLE HOOKS, as the hook will never set,,,,,tight drag,,,put it in the spike, and it will set itself, then you pick it up, and fight the fish,,,,ill show how to set the drag, in the next episode,,,great question,,,thanks for watching!!😎
I'm in catching saltwater fish stripers from the canal all the way up to Maine. The meaning of the age I am now I see all kinds of stuff and it's not the good it's going to the bad.
Well, I catch them every week,,,and im all for, protecting the fishery, but im interested, in truthful appraisal, of the stocks, and fair laws, to benefit recreational, and commercial fisheries, not one sided, in favor, of the commercial guys, cause that's what it seems,,,😎
I, personally, if I had a commercial license, just to fish for myself, would have no use, or even want, 15 fish, a day, but to give us, 1 fish a day, with a 3 inch slot window, is hilariously, impossible,,,we'll just ride it out, I guess,,,,thanks for watching,,😎
If you like semi customs,,,Tops make EVERYTHING,,,QUALITY, GENERATIOAL, KNIVES,,,one of my favorites,,,(no, I'm not sponsred,,just love American made, authentic quality,,,😎
Awesome video as usual. Enjoyed hearing about the history. You mentioned Stripers in breaking waves. I remember all pictures in Nelson’s Bait & Tackle and the fish in the breakers. Looks like it was a peaceful morning on the Canal. It’s been a while since I’ve had my surfboard out, maybe this week. Rat Cave looks awesome. Have a good one Mark
I totaly agree with the regulations you talked about, and the 20 mackerel fish when commercial goes for tons of them... It's all about we go buy the fish from the store
Lol,,,,busted,,, I'll rat myself out,,,,,,,FINALLY,,,someone caught the irony, in this parody,,,,im PROUD to be a masshole,,,,good eye bro,,,thanks for watching,,,😎
Great vid. Is it not even worth tossing a line with the seals around?? Last year, i was surf fishing on Nauset and about 20 feet in front of me a seal popped up with a schoolie hanging out of his mouth, just staring at me, mocking me.
Lol,,welcome to the NEW, outer cape,,,,,,the tide will turn, and youll have the last laugh, when a great white, blindsides, the overwieght package o blubber, ,and takes a cooler sized chunk, out of its port side,,,its ,left swimming in death circles,,,until the white comes in for seconds,,,,,welcome back, to our OLD outer cape,,,,,(wow, got a little carried away there, but if you knew the fisherie, like we did,,,and when you anticipate, your whole trip, around the. Fishing,,and theyre there,,,),,still have fun tho,,,THOSE BEACHES!!!,,,,now killer whales are showing up,,,,,it wont be long,,,thanks for watching!!😎
Many different places,,,I have a small tripod,,,I use mostly, that's an excellent idea,,and I have an octopus mount that could do that,,,great idea,,thanks!!😎
Most are suggesting makers marks,,,only a few,,AT GROUND LEVEL,,,show the marks,,,NO WHERE ELSE, IN THE MASSIVE STRUCTURE, OUT OF HUNDREDS, AND HUNDREDS OF THE STONES, IN THE STRUCTURE,,ARE THE MARKS SHOWN, which leads us to believe, they were carved at ground level,,,,other structires in the area such as Cantin Junction, and Stoughton train stations, are cut from the same Quincy quarry granite, and SHOW NO MARKS AT ALL, pretty much disproving the k cutters mark,,,,the marks DO MATCH UP, TO SOME HOBO SIGNS, if you google hobo signs,,youll see,,,hoboing was extremely popular with civil war vets after the war, traviling the country, by jumping trains, and would leave signs, to other hobos, about the particular town,,,,this makes more sense, but is not conclusive,,,its a cool MYSTERY,,,ill post a vid of the huge stone out front of the viaduct,,,with bizarre carvings, shortly,,,THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!😎
If this is conclusive, then the historic society, is not aware, and suggests otherwise,,,that, and its an interesting thing,,,is the reason why I posted this,,,and on the contrary, most of the stones are blank,,,theres only a few, with the marks,,,furthermore,,,theres a large Boulder, about waist high,,,on the waterfall side,,,with even more bizarre carvings,,,that are unexplained,,,ill post a vid of that, next time I'm in the are,,,some sites suggest the makers mark theory, as I think it was built around the 1830s by free masons,,,but traveling the country, after the Civil war,,,,,by hopping trains,,,hoboing,,,,was EXTREMELY popular, by civil war vets, looking for work, as migrant workers, and would travel with thier farming tools,,,hence the name HOBOS,,,,and it was EXTREMELY popular to travel that mode of transportation for free,,by hopping trains, as that was cutting edge mode at the time,,,the hobos would carve in trees and rocks,,,symbols denoting,,,mean people here,,,or free handouts,,,theres tons of these symbols,,,check online,,,,look up, HOBO SYMBOLS,,,and youll see MANY, match the symbols on the viaduct,,,,,,most coincide with the symbols, on the stones,,,,INTERESTING AS HECK,,,,and the historical society is not sure of the origins,,,,where are they ??,,on other structures, like canton junction train station,,,stoughton station,,,and many surrounding awesome structures, in the area, all using quincy quarry stone,,???,MYSTERY,,,,,theres a lot there,,,,,,😎
Check with the Canton historical society,,,and online,,,,they don't have a clue,,,and that would be so obvious,,,I am somewhat of an authentic hobo expert,,,and many of the symbols, do coincide with symbols hobs left, for other hobos, back in the 20s and 30s, and earlier,,,denoting whether food was available, or it was an unfriendly town,,,etc,,,you should check out the canton historical societies view, before coming off as Mr or Mrs know it all,,,I wouldn't post it if it wasn't accurate,,,😎
@@trailbossx2 they are Masons signature. Each mason working on the wall was given a symbol so that the boss would know how much to pay to which person obviously
There’s not too many of us bottom fishing canal rats these days. Lures work well but there’s nothing better than watching the rod bend and hearing the drag take off. To me it’s a completely different experience. It’s almost two different sports.
I am the squidders biggest fan,,,i probably have 30 or 40,,i buy every one i see, at flea markets,,,,and its the best saltwater reel,, with those takedown knobs,,,so easy to maintain,,,its the best,,,I use the penn squall now,,,cause, its got the spin forever bearings,,,and casts further then the squiddah,,,and its got the magnetic, anti backlash,,,its almost cheating,,,,ya still need the educated thumb, tho,,,I can get 3/4 across the canal, with that reel,,,its pure pleasure, to fish, and if ya got the educated thumb, from the squiddah, which I'm sure you do,,,youll love the squall,,,its pure POWER, too,,,nothin stronger, than a conventional,,,and I think they're about 160ish,,,so real affordable Penn quality,,,and personally, I think that the conventional reels,,,look sharp, as heck, too,,,,real fun to fish!!,,,,,by the way, the world record distance cast,,,was done on a tricked out, conventional,,,,,,,😎
@@striperhunter-ic2wt you can pimp out your own squidders, now,,,I did a few, theyre awesome,,,you buy these aluminum bar stock, milled pieces, to replace the stock crossbars,,,comes in great colors, too,,then you get the oversized handle, with huge grip, it increases the revs, of the spool,,,makes the reel look awesome,,,if only they'd come out with a bearing replacement to smooth out, the spool revs for longer casts,,,if they came out with that,,id go back to the sqidder,,,I might do a segment, showing a few tricked out ones, cause I know a lot of us old school guys, feel this way, about that reel,,,a mint condition one goes about 100 bucks, on ebay, now, if ya can find em,,,theyre such a simple well built reel, and drag,,anyone, can work on em too,,,that's why I like the van stahls,,,theyre the squidder, of the spinning reel world,,,,they just keep working, and working,,,waaay pricey tho,,,took a while b4 I was able,,,but worth every penny,,,😎
Good Morning Paul. Fantastic video and great message. Same goes for everything, fishing, hunting, gardening. It’s all about time spent. Pouring rain here today but gonna soak some bait myself this afternoon. Nice fish and great video as always. Regards Mark PS. Any chance I can get your email address?
It's amazing, Mark, how many people, mostly young, or foreign, think this,,,I was hesitant to post that, at the risk of coming off, mean spirited, but they are so blunt, in coming up, and asking such obvious things,,basically, they should just go to the fish market, and BUY IT,,,and go home, and claim victory,,,LOL,,,theyre not interested In FISHING, JUST GLORY,,,,anyway,,,how would we do this, for the email, as so many people see this,,I don't think we'd want that,,,😎
The spot, I featured today,,,Gallos,,,is easy to get to,,,and the Cribbins,,,on the mainland side,,,is pretty easy access, just b4 the herring run,,look for a pulloff,,,and some steep stairs,,,,honestly,,,90%, and more,,,of the canal,,,is QUIET,,,,7 miles,,,and both sides,,,mostly,,,just go to the bourne rec area,,,with ample parking,,,,walk abut 10 yards, to the access rd,,,underneath the bourne bridge,,,and the world is your oyster,,,go right or left,,,and find 7 MILES OF PEACE, AND FISH,,,,the map, helps to find the holes,,,as does my spot checks, at the end of each weekly episode, this year,,,,,also,,,youll find, part 1, of this series, extremely helpful, if youre not familiar, with the canal,,,youll like it,,,have fun,,,catch fish,,,and thanks for watchin!!😎
The things you see,,,while driving cab, around Boston,,,,,wouldn't trade it for the world!!!!This guy, is actually, a really good guy,,,,somthins buggin him, at the moment, i guess,,, ,😎
