If I WAS not a Boy Scout, I'd have been in LITTLE LEAGUE! This organization ruined a good chunk of my childhood because it was what my mother wanted. Everything one of my genius older brothers was ever unsuccessful at doing I was NEVER allowed to do or try, but I could sit in the stands and watch other people play. I should have forged a signature and played anyway. One Scoutmaster catered to his own kids no end while another kept doing inappropriate things while other kids sat back and said nothing for fear of not becoming Eagle Scouts. This guy even used his adult daughter to flirt with underage boys to recruit them. When I wouldn't let this guy touch me, he kicked me out and made my records disappear. Then when I testified against him when he was FINALLY brought up on charges, the real motto was shown: SWEEP IT UNDER THE RUG AND THE KID WITH IT! I succeeded in one area, however. His name and photo were on display at an exhibit at a museum. I successfully got it removed. Then I told the scout whose exhibit it was for his Eagle project what I did. He wasn't even "BRAVE" enough to do that!
I'm plenty calm. I've been vindicated. If the Jehovah's Witnesses can recruit perverts, call them "former molesters," and let them do this to kids in their congregation and get away with it, what does that say about this organization? Besides, this organization is losing enrollment if they have to allow girls to enter and change their name. I'm waiting for the day when a girl shows up in a maternity uniform.
If there were more Scouts of our youth today ! So much less social problems would be Less evident as far as criminal or troublesome kids. Being more constructive is were it is.
